20261011 Seeing Is Being
from Sunday Reflection with Rev. Aaron Payson @ The Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester, MA
This weekend is National Coming Out Day. A natural, unforced fit for courage — not just LGBTQ+ visibility, but the broader human courage of dropping a mask in a room that might not be safe. Contemporary edge: doing this in 2026, with LGBTQ+ rights actively contested in statehouses and courts — this isn’t nostalgia; it’s live risk for people in the pews. And it is part of the thread that connects honoring Domestic Violence Awareness Month, with our 50/50 Collection in support of the YWCA Domestic Violence Services Program, as well as Indigenous Peoples’ Day, which asks us to consider the stories we tell about ourselves and the way such narratives shape our relationship to both the past and the future. The Unitarian Universalist Church of Worcester (UUCW) is located in Worcester, the heart of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Our services are live-streamed on ... at 10 am every Sunday and stored on our website www.uucworcester.org for future viewing. The music you hear is from "Song Without Words," written and performed by our Music Director, Matt Johnsen.
