In this episode, our Pastor gave a deeper understanding of the lifestyle of the early Church, with a thorough study of the Book of Acts.We began by establishing that the term “church” does not refer to a physical building, but to a people, specifically, the souls of believers.Furthermore, we examined the distinction between progress in a local assembly and progress in the Church of the Lord. Advancement in roles or hierarchy (such as moving from an usher to a pastor) does not necessarily reflect true spiritual growth. As such, we must prioritize our spiritual progress in the church above titles or positions within a local assembly.We also highlighted the importance of fellowship among believers. The culture of a believer is not isolation, but community. We need fellow brethren for spiritual safety, accountability, and stability, so that we are not tossed to and fro by worldly influences and desires.In addition, drawing from Acts 8:14–16, we saw that it is possible to be born again without being filled with the Holy Spirit. It was taught that the evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues, therefore distinguishing the new birth from the infilling experience.Finally, we addressed the ongoing work of transformation in the believer’s life. Being born again does not automatically eliminate the lusts of the soul. Therefore, we must continually pursue the mysteries of the gospel, allowing the Word and the Spirit to refine us until our hearts are fully aligned with the Lord.
