Good. Got it? Got it. You're right.

Yep. Morning. Good afternoon. Good evening.

Listen to the old talk podcast live drive edition special co-host hosted by Peter Ronas. I keep forgetting to say my name. I don't even talk to myself. Special co-host tonight.

He's only stripes the captains with us. I'm back. And we're driving a couple cars. So it's going to be back to back with the captain.

And I'm driving one of his fleet. He's going to drive one of my fleet. And we're going to compare notes. Can't wait.

We're about, let's start at first and we'll turn around what it is. But they've probably read the title of the episode. Yeah, they're already knowing. That's a big surprise.

So we're about to drive a V53 coupe and it starts like this. Nice. There you go. And it's got, oh shit.

Everything came to me. Yep. Not me. I can't.

So it's basically, it's funny how Mercedes when you start it, there was a phase, the seal, let's do it too. It does the, the sun and dance or the lights. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like, you know, but this is typical Mercedes.

We did a live drive with the Range Rover and we'll make it fun of all the controls and buttons. I suppose if someone got into this thing, you not know what a Mercedes is like, that'd be a bit lost. But when you familiar with it, yeah, with the controls, am I going to ride it? Yeah, that way.

And then to ride around. So we're leaving the captain's lair right around. Right, left with you. No, no, no, no.

Okay. How many cars do you have? I can't, it sounds like you're leaving fun at the back gate. Well, don't bet me I would have that spinning turntable and you would have got out pretty flying stuff.

Maybe we should have started the podcast outside. Anyway, there you go. I'm a fucking, this is the Vincent de Paul storage or which way straight? That way.

Right. That's it. Fuck this is how to get out of the NOS fields. Oh, yeah.

That's it. So basically the E53 coupe, the reason we wanted to drive this is because this is a dedicated E class coupe platform. Yep. Because I had the C class coupe, then you've got the AMG GT coupe, you've got an SL coupe.

They've got like four and then the S class had a coupe as well. That was the best coupe. So they had like four or five coups. Yeah.

And then Mercedes said, you know what? They're doing away with the ball. Everyone wants fucking SUVs. Yeah.

So they're done away with the C class coupe. And they're bringing out the CLE. CLE. So and then they've just brought out the new SL which I saw one last night looks a bit and the demographic was right.

There was like a 60 year old driving it. Yep. In Chatswoo. I reckon this one.

Yeah. Yeah. Oh, no, no, no, no, it's gonna, sorry mate. This is part of work.

Nice to dance. Yeah. Oh, what a nice car. It's good, isn't it?

I know where to go to give it to be. This is not a familiar test track. This is the round the back of where Porsche is. So they never brought out an E63 in a coupe.

No, only in the car. So this is the big boy. Yeah. So this is the straight six hybrid turbo.

It's twin turbo. One's hybrid and the other one's normal. So I've got the hybrid kicks in down down low. Yep.

So to avoid the lag. Yeah, there's no lag. So far but I haven't pressed that hard. Yeah.

I've got to ask, I can't thrash the fucking thing. Yeah. Yeah. Of course.

So this is the individual mode. So the dash is all lit up. It's standard E class fare. It's got a twin dash, even though it's in yellow and boost gauge with tire pressure monitoring.

So clear on for Mr. Food Delivery Man. Come on. I can see.

I can see a bit further. I mean, you expect it. So the E53 is a twin turbo. Straight six straight six.

Yeah. It's about 350 kilos. I think I'll look at some numbers. Yeah, I think it's 440 horsepower.

Yeah. Sounds about right. Yeah. Oh, I like it.

You know what? I'm just how quick going it. We're big boys. And it's it's a big improvement on the seat on the circuit and I've got a bit more comfortable with it.

So you had, because from the room we had the SSV8 and from the U.S. C63. And they see 43. C43.

That's right. Yeah, cool. And that was all drive. All drive.

Yeah. And this is all drive. Yeah. But this has got a bit more balls.

Yeah. Yeah. I think the way that the next generation engine they've done, it's a bit talkier. It's been straight six.

Yeah. Yeah. So it feels like it's a lot more pull and for the size of the car, it's actually quite good. Does it feel like a big car?

No. Because the next car I'm going to drive feels like a big car when it's not. Obviously class. Yeah.

It's just you'll see the difference where this. It's quite agile. Once you look at once you get the fit like used to it and you can throw it around really easy. Yeah.

That's what I've noticed already. There's not much weight. Doesn't feel like it. No.

Because my brothers got their E53 sedan. We haven't done a live drive. We wanted to. The problem with that is we can't dissolve it.

The seats and you had the race seats. They can't have the race seats. No, there's the comfort seats. Because I can fit in it.

Yeah. Like I said, we're big boys and look, I've driven this to Melbourne and back and you know what you get out of it and you feel quite fresh. Oh, you feel quite fresh. Like we're just cruising now because we haven't gone to the test track yet.

I'll hit up display. Yeah. My wife has been driving the seat class. She likes my haters.

She hates it. Yeah. My wife hates the head. And now it's just a distraction.

She can't get a balance right. So it must be a girl thing. Yeah. But what I, this is the old sort of design of it.

That's a current E class. It's the old design of the rectangular screens across and there's buttons for everything still. So I took a photo. The head up display is on the right here.

You can just switch it off and on. Yeah. And I sent her a photo of that button and she took the seat class up the coast with one of the friends. And she's like, I know what you're talking about.

Yeah, they did too. I think I said in the last podcast, yeah. It's got a bigger rectangular hole on the dashboard. Yeah.

They got rid of it. They put a book over it. They got the manual, the logbook and put it over the screen. So it doesn't reflect on the video.

So she didn't turn it up. So when I picked up the seat class, it's got the logbook in the little, like, the rectangles. Thumbs the nose to the German engineer. That's pretty good.

That's ingenious. So, okay. Now I'm about to jump onto the performance track. Right.

So this is the tesla boss that you're doing. He might say to me, you know what, this might be a good one. You know what, only just realized it was over the other day when I, uh, yeah, when I was heading to, uh, what's it like to the international? Not all of it.

You still haven't got the bit, no, but canal road done. Okay. So now we're on the edge. It's got out of the way.

I know it's okay. No rush. Yeah. So it's actually got rid of it.

Someone I got in there thinking, I can't find the button for it. You're trying to switch it off. You're talking about a bit later about the new system that the cities have put on. So I use the, um, the voice.

Yep. And we found it. So it was quite good. It's a really well balanced car.

Yeah. You feel it? Yeah. It's a bit in his firm and the roads and all the bands with fucking docking track and Sydney.

Yeah. Which way was how do you go to the international? This lane. Yeah.

Okay. So yeah, that's the thing that cracks me with these sort of sports coups. There's not much low profile tires. You hit those cat's eyes.

Yeah. Really? Yeah. Without trying.

Yeah. Yeah. It's a, it's a real, uh, I think this was a really underestimated, it's a hidden gem. I reckon this one, the E.

This is the E 53. You don't see a lot of them on the road. You don't see any. Yeah.

I think a lot of people underestimated it. It's the engine's, um, very responsive without next napping. I mean, I didn't push it all the way. Yeah.

It's in the new part of the track and not familiar with this and there's a bit of roadworks going on. But it's not right. So a really good roadman is. Yeah.

It's really no idea where we are. So really. Yeah. It really, well, don't see the spending money on infrastructure.

Wait, that's that new bridge. Oh, there we go. It's, yeah. It's, you can drive it like a normal car and you can really give it.

And the noise is amazing. Yeah. It does a bit of that. It's not crack on a pop.

Yeah. Um, I know. So international. Yeah.

Yeah. Yeah. So, but yeah, that's the other one. All right.

So go back to the old section. Nah man. This is six nice handles really well. When I'm literally at eight tents, I'm not even pushing it.

It's turning what you want to steering. It's almost like the old A45. You know what I'm talking about the, um, yeah, that's well, that's cool. Is it up in time?

Yeah. It's late. Yeah. Do you like it?

Oh, look, I don't mind it, but you have to constantly be on it with the brush to keep it. Oh, you clean it. Yeah. Oh, I can't have used to clean it a moment wide after.

Yeah. No, you fluffed it up. Can I ask them to change on the warranty? I mean, I 45 and they wouldn't change it.

I get the package with the brushes come over the car. Well, no, this didn't come because I've been on what's like with the ammo in Wesley. Oh, don't go there. It's what Brody gets.

Larry Casilla, I go and come and see me. Yeah. And I don't know Brody was your man. So we're gonna have to rearrange that in the view.

Okay. Yeah. So now we're ready. This is like, stereo, funny.

Yeah. One, I don't know. You got backwards three, two, one. That was, I didn't even have to hold the steering wheel.

That car was planted. There's no loss of traction. It's 4.4 seconds. There's no, there's no like, with the traditional AMG models, those V8s, they lose control.

They're just all too much power. It's all down traction. Mate, this is steady as it's just sat down. And literally, I wasn't even fighting the wheel.

I didn't have to. I was just chilling out. It's amazing. I love this car.

These were about 180,000 brand new. They're not on the website anymore. I did some homework. Yeah.

And that's the price point of the new CLE. Yeah, it would be. Yeah, for the CLE, 53 when it comes out, they're looking at it. It's got about 180 grand.

So they're going to keep the 53 this year. So they're probably wrapped up the hybrid though. Yeah, probably. They're probably improved on that.

Probably. It's a four second car. They've improved. So that's four or four point one second.

Yeah, I know you won't expect anything less. But it's a group. They're not. The sedans are what everyone goes for.

It'd be interesting to see. The C63 just came out with their four cylinder power plate. It'd be interesting to see. But Mate, I love this car.

Yeah, it's really good. What a beautiful car. Like I'm meeting with the sedan and it felt a lot heavier where this is very agile. It's a different car.

Completely. It's amazing. Well, I think that's a thumbs up. Thumbs up.

Thumbs up. Right, absolutely. You can do a thumbs up. Yeah.

Well, there you go. So that's the E53. I hope you enjoy it. A bit of aural pleasure, always we'd like to say when you get, you know, there was a chain of electric cars and you didn't get to either snap crackle or pop with the aural pleasure of accelerating these little beasts.

But Mate, it's a great thing. It's a surprise package, definitely. But when I first drove it, I was like, no way. You know, I thought it wasn't going to be that much different to the C43.

Yeah. No. But it's a completely different animal. This is like, this is a competent bruiser.

Yeah. It's a property. It's not a G. I wouldn't call it a G2.

It's not a G2. But it's not balls out. Yeah. But it ticks the boxes on both ends.

Yeah. Yeah. It tries. It's not trying to be good at one thing and shit at the other.

No. No. It's not an all-rounder either. But you can treat it like an all-rounder.

So Mate, I'm going to go for these now. This is like, because I want to go shopping in the next four months. I'm still having a marring. You can pick up a really good one now.

I reckon for a hundred, hundred, hundred thousand. Easy. Easy. I really want to.

They like Haze. These are not many users of Bailey. So, well there you have it. There we go.

Mate, that's a review of us. So I'll talk with the Captain Moises and co-hosts. And we'll keep bugging him and badgering him. So send us your emails or talk at outlook.com.au.

Uh, well, I've been here. Back to the rock.
