205: Why You Aren't Feeling Better - A Spiritual Perspective

from I'm Perfectly Divine Podcast · host Michelle Bersell

Many of us avoid negative emotions because they feel uncomfortable or because we've bought into the "good vibes only" mentality. But ask yourself—why would the Divine give you these feelings if they were simply meant to burden you? I promise you, avoiding them isn’t the answer. You’re likely not doing the necessary inner work continuously. Therapy is important, but it’s not enough on its own. You need a process to guide you through the rest of your waking hours when those tough emotions arise. One major issue is that we often don’t know what to do with negative emotions other than endure them or attempt to shift our emotional state. Even if we logically understand an emotion, we often mistakenly believe it’s processed, but that doesn’t mean it has reached the heart. You might intellectually grasp it, but you're not fully embodying it. Negative feelings arise because there’s so much wisdom within them—lessons and guidance for you to receive. Every emotion has a purpose, a medicine to offer. Once you receive that medicine, the emotion dissipates.
