Here we go then. The Skate-Rill Year edition, tell us what's radio. Present. Me and Will to give a two cents, maybe even a few more cents.

On the matter of Jamie Boy winning Skate-Rill Year. Throw it straight over to you Will. What are you saying? Are you happy with the decision?

I feel like we definitely all saw it coming and yeah, I'm more than happy with the decision. I don't think anyone else deserved it more this year. Because I know you kind of threw out a left field and you did get it right with the... When Thrasher brought out the five skaters that kind of ringed tension.

You had a Hoburn in there didn't you I think? He was definitely a contender for sure. You know not a personal putting him up there, but he's definitely in the contenders for sure. When I saw the list I was like fuck yeah, you know, fair play.

And even let's just we can kind of break down some of the contenders. I lied to Bill and me, the part he just put out with all those fucking crazy nose grinds and the 50s. It's such a different, this is my skateboard so great. We can love it for every different aspect of what it is.

That video part was right up my alley. I absolutely loved it. But it's on weight it doesn't get there. That's what we're talking right?

On weight it can't compete against you know, I was sending a few of the videos up to you yesterday of what Boys Power during the year. I'm sure there's a couple more in there. You know there's a couple of Florida. Yeah, tour videos and but we're talking you know three to four real parts and then a sprinkling of little tour and side pieces and kind of promo bits for Dickies and shit like that.

But the girth of video footage is put out is undisputed. So many clips and you know when you're looking at some of the four parts, it's not like an extended you know clip in there. They're all they're jam-packed with footage. Yeah, I watched the child remains this morning just to kind of get myself in a game.

Although it's not heavy hitting shit in it, mate. It's not like super super bang. It's left a bigger stuff for the honeymoon for intervals. Yeah, maybe for death wish as well.

Although that wasn't as kind of like full of hammers. It's still a few big ones in there as well. There's a lot of tech in child remains, mate. Lots super super tech.

And some of the footage you can tell that he's obviously just like you kind of said at the time, charge remains being that they're the remains, you know, they're the bits of footage that aren't necessarily going to make the big cut in the full feature link videos. But it's still there's every clip's fucking sweet. And there was one there was one shot. And I think the reason why they probably didn't pick it was because maybe the lighting wasn't as great.

But he's hitting his benches, mate. And he hits like a front board. Does he hit front board to fakey on a bench? Then hits like, let's say switch, thieves or switch smith on the other one.

Yeah. Spins around and then hits like a switch front crook or something on the top of the other one. Yeah. And like, stop skating, skating top of benches.

Like we know right how on your best day, I mean, you might be able to hit more to me. But a board slide, you know, maybe a crook, you know, you turn that board around and do some legit, legit tricks, even a front board to fakey on top of a bench, mate, you stick. That's a bad slam. You got to go down.

So like, but that, but that, but that line, I thought was a top tier line, but it was, it was filmed at night. Yeah. So maybe it just doesn't hit the kind of cinematic look that you've got. Yeah, definitely.

It's going to go in board. But there's so many good clips in it. So many good clips. Ah, yeah.

I just literally spent a couple hours ago going through, there's many clips of them, parts of them this year as I could find them. Yeah. Some great tech and some really nice, some switch nose grinds and some switch front crooks, flip out some stuff in there. And he's always had really good ledge tech as well.

So really enjoyable. I'm just on the child remains now because there's one trick in particular I was trying to find. I've just got up in front of me. He's a three minutes 20.

And he's kind of like this weird kind of like almost like DIY pool sort of spot with a ledge on top of the bank. And he hits big spin back tail, heel flip out. It's just like, who's the dexterity to swing a heel? I know probably spinning the back side, big spin into the tail.

You might be heavier in the front foot and your front foot might be hanging a little bit more over there. So you know, I don't know, I ain't got the qualifications to really say it. But it might help with the move. It doesn't mean you can just do it.

Yeah, exactly. Well, it is the ender, but it's compared to the stuff he was doing in intervals. You know, it's not going to end his, it's not going to end that video part. It's not going to end the whole new video part.

But some super, super tech in in child remains. Like on its own, on child remains on its own is up there. Oh, definitely without a doubt. Yeah, still a three minutes 40 video.

Slapped. You know, not a lot of B roll, just all the clips, fair few lines, you know, it's great part. Such a such a volume of tricks, really enjoyable to watch. She's definitely in the past, I'm going to say the past six years has been since he last one, I believe.

Just refined himself even more and just, you know, his specials, they're still his specials, but they're even more solid now. He can use them in and out of tricks, in and out of combos. Now, you know, we're seeing lovely switch front crooks, not just nice regs front crooks, but it was in a crazy switch front crooks, you know, and stuff like that. Flourish, mate.

And he's still young. He is one for you, mate. And I don't think you'd bet against this one three time, not next year, but let's give him another five, right? You know, he's got, he's still got another good five years of throwing down the size of sheet throwing down in 2024.

You ain't going to slow down in, you know, make him, might have slowed down in five years, but in two, three years, he ain't slowing down. No. You might save himself a little bit, but he isn't going to, yeah, he's not going to lose that ship in the next couple of years. Yeah, definitely not.

And hopefully, just like last time, I'm sure it's going to light a fire right under him, you know, having a skate of the air again, let, you know, even just having it once, sure as enough to light a big fire behind you. You know, people got their favorites, literally, and like I said, going back to Pearl, love his stylus skating probably closer to what I can attain, you know, obviously not on that size, but 50s, maybe going a bit faster throwing big board slides, maybe front sub liberal kit flipping, those sort of things. So you're using more linear kind of weapons, but still great to watch, you know, because it's less going on, but he's, he's killing it. But when I compare, I'm comparing it to all, you know, all the guys on the list, four years just, he is the undersmute champ this year, definitely.

Like even if I'm some of his stuff, some of his styles, you know, does he do obviously the, the, the crooks mate, king, right? No one's touching his crooks. If we're going to break things down, is his five O bet and you know, down a rail, is it bet in the larger bills? Maybe not, but aesthetics, you know, but if you can do that and you can put the switch heel down shit, into shit, out of shit, you set yourself apart.

I'm just going to try and get the list up of the, of the contenders. I don't know if you've got it in front of you, mate, who else we had on, on the, on the list. So we had, yeah, Tiago and fair play, he's got to be up there. So again, you're talking about refined skateboarders.

There's not many more refined skaters still doing Noli Flip crooks, betting anyone legendary trick, you know, making it look that good. Then Tiago, Elijah I didn't even see this Galasso Giza mate. What do we put out? I honestly can't remember.

Sure. Any of his shit and, and Brayden Hoeman, which you pointed out, you know, probably a couple of months ago that he's probably probably going to be in a running. So he's in a glory video, which Paul achieves, we haven't, we haven't broken it down for listeners, but I'm sure, sure it's a good watch. Yeah, I hope, well, I agree.

Yeah, I think it's about three videos this year, but we haven't really heard much rumblings of him competing. So Jamie Foy, top tier pro right with two time. Like I said, I think there's a three time, I do, I really, I would put my money on there being a three time. Jamie Foy has been running this train for this year and it's been getting bigger, it's been going faster, it's not been slowing down.

And fuck, this could keep, keep that going for another year. You know, he could just keep doing it. He's one of those type of people you can just keep on going, keep pumping out for it, keep getting tricks, keep getting new tricks. You know, just like, I can definitely see it happening as well.

You know, especially, I don't, I can't remember his age right now. I haven't thought about it for a while, but he's got to be around his mid 20s, maybe, 20 at your best, right? Yeah, yeah. At best.

But even going back, you know, the Thrasher King and Road series, they did try to think what that was on. But yeah, the vice stuff, whatever. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He was the, he was the fucking king there.

Yeah. You know, any challenge, it was, you know, it was watching like the zero boys back in the day when they'd step up and do their thing. He's, he has that level. Oh, he's that level.

Yeah, just take him somewhere and he's, he's going to step up. But I am excited to see what, because have we see, is this, maybe this is the best year? Maybe this is going to be a hard year to be. But it could be, but you know, who knows, you know, I'm sure they're going to do a little, a little tall little, sooty, tall for him and a little highlight or something like that.

And you know, maybe he's worked extra hard, he might need a little, might need a little slow down break. But maybe not, you know, I don't see him taking a break from skating, maybe a break from filming. But yes, he's not really one of those people who's doing casual tricks all the time. They're going to be filmed and he's practicing, he's pretty practicing really nice leg tricks, which we're going to see him, you know.

So who knows? Yeah, imagine four in five years. Yeah, he could go down as one of the, one of the goats me. Yeah, he's solidifying himself there right now.

Yeah, like, we'll talk about a shot, a shot where being, we love him, you know, absolute love him. He's more of the, especially because you don't get as much of the shot where he's got more of that Tom Penny aura to him, you know, where it's, it's a nice treat when you do get a clip out of him. But the amount of footage we're getting from Boy, you know, we could calculate how much, how much minute he's got out this year, in over the last few years, like they're going to be stacking up against pretty much anyone. Oh, yeah.

Not many of the greats are out this much shit. And do you think maybe he's in a good space with all his sponsors? He seems like a happy, you know, he's got his new balance and you've been like, they're on the right trajectory, you know, they're almost like the shooting to be on at the moment, kind of moving Reynolds, apparently getting a pro shoe soon mate. I don't know if you saw that on Instagram.

Yeah, I did. Yeah, hopefully we're going to get a nice Reynolds coming soon. But he's on Dickey's Spitfire, you know, he's got, he's got a nice solid and thrasher kind of backing him as well. Yeah.

And why wouldn't you? It just seems like he's in a happy spot. He's in a good rather than somebody's skaters, you think are going to be doing well with it. Things a bit even like Nigel, for example, you know, his career's been a bit disjointed with brands, you know, and you know, he's on that super DC team.

Then obviously jumps in like, kind of hangs on to element for a fucking long time, probably longer than he should have done. Now he's got his new new board company disorder. So, you know, I mean, I think it's harder, even though you're in a fresher place, I think it's harder to kind of like keep pumping things, have the right film with their company film that's always ready for you. So, the stars are definitely aligning for him, not taking away the skating he's putting out as well.

But it does seem like he's in a really kind of like, he's just in a good spot. Yeah, 100%. He's got all the people he had went around and, you know, new balance team killing it. Obviously, you know, really pushing him for him, Westgate, Tiago, you know, Reynolds there pushing him, like, solid team, Baker, all the deaf-wish boys, all the Dickey's crew, Shake-Junk boys, you know, he's around so many good people, good influencers, good skaters, all different types of skaters, like him, Westgate and Tiago, what a super team.

Like, that's an 18 right there. You've got Mad Tech, Mad Naley Rails, Pop, like everything that you'd want, you know, and so much to learn from. And go back to that video, mate, intervals. Tocked here for me, topped here for me.

Yeah. Tocked, topped, like that is, I think you said at the time, you know, but you just said it then, but the, what a treat is to get that three. You know, that'd be like us getting a rally, rally penny, sorry, sort of part back in the day, you know, just those three, fuck all the other stuff, just those three with three solid high-end video productions, you know. But it's death we've got a video on, on the go.

Yep. The next year. You'd like to think they've got something clicking. I was even thinking, because of the Dickey's team he's got, and maybe, maybe Spitfire as well, he's got Dylan Jade.

So he's probably skating with him quite a lot. You know, a few times a year or whatever. And we kind of see him as another player that's going to be, it's going to be coming soon, right? You know, he's going to be getting a pro board.

I would say he's going to get this pro board in 2025. Yeah, he needs to, well overgue. Because you see, yeah, they, I'm trying to think of his name now, but I'm just, gave that Japanese lad his pro board. And you see, there's a, a shove over like a bumped above me from that ladder.

It's one of his parts. Jesus Christ. He's got so much pop. What, the start like watching him doing a switch flip.

Let's get his name up so I can actually, yeah, it's been credit. But it's, um, Mate, you watch him just doing shit on flat. And it's like, how would you get the board to do that? How, like, the efficiency in his feet and, and the pop.

Yeah, it's just, yeah, thing of beauty. Yeah, if he's getting it and not necessarily on everyone's radar compared to, compared to Dylan Jade, it's, it's coming. Oh, yeah. Oh, have you seen on the, on the primitive talk, mate, have you seen Wildfire yet?

I haven't seen it yet. I haven't watched it. No. No, one day ago, one day ago, which is probably going to be a decent, decent video.

What's his name? Oh, yeah. Kiyonsuke Yamashita. That's the guy.

Pretty sure he's on the S as well. He is. And he looks so good in them. Oh, yeah.

So good in them. Yeah, he looks so good in the, in the shoes, mate, in his tray. I'm just, just kind of going through it now. He's in no hurry, is he?

No. He's in no hurry. But he's definitely, there's going to be a flip in or a flip out or any, any obstacle he's going to put, put the tech in Jesus. Yeah.

Just sort of do a kick flip up a three-star just in a line, mate. And the efficiency of that kick flip. That's an, that's a throwback. Yeah, maybe we'll have to do a a little deep dive on this at some point.

But it's so good seeing a proper text. I don't, S always have the top tier text skaters, you know, throughout history and obviously now with TJ. Yep. It's so good seeing the big shoe, but with the tech, you know, that, because S was a tech, the tech shoe, right?

Of course. Yeah, definitely. Such a great style. Yeah.

Well, maybe we'll have to treat your listeners on the next episode to it. So it'll break down on the, on the, on the wildfire. It's definitely worth checking out. 22 minutes long, just, 22 minutes, just pretty decent.

So what we're talking to scared of the year, mate, let's just, let's just go over to Burl again. Yep. Just, just playing devil's advocate to the, to the more than ask, I was going to ask a simple quote. I'll ask it, but it's an easy answer.

But did he have a chance, even with the bangers? Did he have a chance? Take a boy out? Does he have a chance?

I don't think so. I don't think so either. Unfortunately, you know, great skater. And this is it.

Like, let's think of some of the most stylish skateboarders in the world. Any of them, so is no. Pretty much, not all, you know, there's a couple, but pretty much no, because there's only a certain few who can perform to the level of a so he and do it perfectly. You know, there's, there's only a few people like that in the world, you know, way D, it spends a hour and the list goes on.

But these guys, you know, they're not doing the full basket of tricks that everyone wants to see. Way D, favorite of ours, probably one of your biggest influencers is a manneeskate, mate. He's got to be up there. So he's going to, he's going to tick a box for you right there.

He's going to tick a box for me, but he's not, he's not jumping down huge shit. And he's not doing flip back lip on handrails. You know, I'm sure he can, I'm sure he has done, but he's not, you know, he's not doing a Shano-neal switch, flip back lip. You know, that's, that's sort of caliber because there is, there is a difference.

And it isn't to say that Way D's a worst skate and Shano-neal, far from it, you know, just, just a consistent, just as good in Switch. But there is that without kind of jump, I think without jumping down shit, you, you don't, you don't get there. You know, if you look at all the people who want it, I'm sure there's exceptions and, you know, writing, let us know. But you talk about that era of, you know, rallies, apple yards, saris, you know, everyone, everyone's jumping down shit.

You've almost got to be, to, to be that skater of the year, you got to be pushing skateboarding to the limits. You know, Rowley, you can, we all knew it for so many people, they're doing the biggest, the baddest, the fastest, the longest, you know, they're not just in the smoothest, you know, maybe Shano-neal can do them both. But there isn't that many of them. It's like David Gonzalez, mate.

Yeah, exactly. That year, that year, that 50 push in it absolutely push it. Yeah, pushing it. And do you think maybe it's unfair, maybe it isn't of them?

But that's why manuals get, is don't get the recognition, unless you're day one, you're more than, they don't get the real quick, because people don't see manual games being pushed. I mean, I do, you know, when we, Shano-neal's ender in, Shango, she goes to, and I think I said at the time, I saw a clip of another podcast talking about his ender, said it wasn't an ender. It's like, you know, it wasn't a caliber of an ender. It's like, you don't, so they're just, they don't respect manuals.

You know, that's what they've just declared there. Whereas I see that is probably the hardest street you could do. I'd much rather if I can try and kick the clip down to the 20s there, because there's a possibility of doing it, mate. You know, you're going to get smashed up, but there's, it's a simpler process, much simpler process.

You know, even me and you, you know, we can, you know, we can jump down some stairs, mate. We can both jump, but I can't touch your manual game, no, in near. And the reason why I can't touch your manual, I can't, I can't get into that world. You know, that's too, that's such a more complicated world.

I enjoy it, you know, I enjoy a flip manning, mate. Don't get me wrong, but to change it into, you know, when you, when you change manuals into not just being linear, you're flipping, you know, doing rotations in them as well, combos, there is, there is a respect that probably isn't necessarily given out as much as it should be for some of these. And you know, maybe it was at five-trick combo for the, the change thing. I don't know what I would, you know, it was, it was up there and it just doesn't feel like it, it doesn't carry the same weight.

And maybe it shouldn't, but I think it's on that caliber, it should. Yeah. And things like that is, you know, we had Tiago in the run-ups. We would have loved to have seen someone like Tiago, Cascade with the air, wouldn't complain.

But you're going to be like, well, there's another person could have had it. And other people, oh yeah, you know, they're not going to see the switch back nose blunt flip out. They're not going to see the switch back nose blunt on one of the biggest ledges someone has humanly skated to do the hardest trick you can possibly do on it. But it's not, it's not as expected.

It's not as understood. People want to be wowed. You know, probably actually, 30% of people that helped towards the initial boats and stuff are probably in their first or second year of skating. Probably, they're probably all new, they're fresh, they've got their opinion, which is probably wrong.

But that, you know, it's the well factor. Yeah, I feel we come from a, you know, we've got a few years of skateboard underneath our belt mate, you know, a few years now, you know, we're getting there. And if you include Jono in there as well, you know, there's a, we've got a decent wealth of skateboard underneath us. So I think we do take, even though we've got our favorites, you've still got respect to what is, you know, you've got respect for what he is.

Like I said, like I said, large a barrel closer, obviously a bit more gnar than me, but closer to how I would operate on it, if I ever got to a pro level, it'd be closer to that. Yeah. You know, maybe hopefully with a little sprinkling, a Tiago, I could get some little led tricks in there, but that's, and then probably you closer to Tiago, you know, and obviously you can jump and probably, you know, sprinkles of other people in there, sprinkle a four, sprinkle a little bit, a little bit, it's in there as well. But you still can't, just because that's our style, and that's what we like, doesn't mean that's, that's who wins, right?

That doesn't mean that's better. You know, so you've got to, you do have to kind of take a step back and really kind of like assess it. It's like, yeah, just because that's your favorite skater doesn't mean, like for example, when Chris Cole won it, that's probably how he became our favorite skaters. Yeah.

How we, how we turned, turned it on and he was undisputed. He didn't just get it because he was, you know, obviously he was popular in the selling boards and everything, but bam, never want to do it. No. So if, this isn't a popularity contest, isn't who you're, you know, who you want to dress like, you want to skate like this is who is doing the most consistent tricks on a, like you said, that, that top tier level.

Yeah. And none of these people are like, none of them have a, like a niche, if that makes sense. Like obviously skateboarding itself is a bit of a niche, but there's so many sub categories that everyone is personally drawn to for whatever reason it is, it could be anything, you know, you could like someone who's opposite to what you do and skate like, you know, and everyone's is going to vary so much. Someone might just like the music of that person drop the part and that's it.

They like that person forever. You know, that's cool. Yeah. And that's how it goes sometimes.

You can just get inspirations out of nowhere and that could mold your whole skate life. And then you're in that rabbit hole. And hopefully it does. Because the great thing about skating is there are so many different styles, characters, you know, even a turbo boy's mate, we've got a different kind of like, you know, when we're doing the all stars, we're not obviously the sun that you can't leave out, but there's some we're fighting for, you know, some, you know, I'm going to be pulling out, you know, like a in the zero, who was I trying to get into the team.

Handrels, John Allie. Yeah. Like, I'm, you know, that was my, he was one of my big people, growing up because he had a shotgun kick clip and he was putting it into shit. So that was pretty much obviously, you know, doing flip front lips and stuff like that.

So I wasn't getting there, but he was, he was doing the flipping to stuff. It worked for me, where it's like, John, oh, he's, he's wanting, you know, he's wanting someone charging. He's wanting someone. And we can, I can still appreciate, you know, Nick Vazario for doing what he does, you know, I can just charges.

He's in a spot. You can only get one, one chance of hitting, you know, making things big wheels. And then there's someone like you who obviously are respecting these guys as well, but you can see, you know, you can see the manuals, you can see things a little bit, you can see if it's more tech as well, you know, turning the board around a bit more switch. So you've got, you've got all these, you know, like, like the way Desamos, you know, like a PJ lad, you know, like those sort of, like those sort of people.

And even the style of the cushioning and the, the way you skate as well, you know, we've all got so many like, interesting, even copied, you know, if you could get like a, you know, you wear the balls on your mate and you do the scans and everything. And seeing who's the closest person you've kind of mimicked over the years, like what are the, what are the traits that you kind of, you kind of tried to, try to grab and see which one, you know, like Cole for me, definitely is one of those people like the body type, the body shape sort of thing is probably a close kind of, you know, less, less steeze, if you will, less kind of like cushion tricks, but more about kind of like trying to, trying to execute and, you know, hand movements, maybe bigger hand movements, whereas you're probably smaller because you're going for the, the steeze control, you know, the finish of it. So it's, it's just really interesting. I think it's a really, so many, so many different types of skater out there.

Yes. Endless possibilities really, when you think about it. We'll just jump into predictions for 2025, mate. Let's just stick on, let's get our necks on the line, mate.

Let's just, let's try and do it. I feel like we're in for a young and like under 20. If I agree with it or not, you know, it's just the way things are pushed and the things people are doing nowadays are over higher caliber sometimes in some, in some areas, not all. Intric.

Yeah. You get more points in Tony, you get more points in Tony Hawk flippin out of a backsmith, Dan Handrail, doesn't mean it's better. Yeah. They're not going to have as long as a catalog, or as big as a catalog.

It's like a year 2000 skate of the year, you know what I mean? But someone like Philip A, Philip A, Martin or something like that, he's fresh likes him, everyone likes him, good trick selection, and he can wow people and, you know, he's in the right place as well. You know, he's got a smart as well. They can look at how social media plays out.

They know a lot better than we do. You know, they could be root. If you've got a team, but people behind you as well who could set you up and you can film all the time, I'd be surprised if he's not in like the first draft. That's a good, that's a very good prediction of that's good.

I like that pick. I like that pick. There's a few like him. You can throw down though.

You can throw down though. You know, he messes with Hollywood high. Yeah. So if you're on, if you're on that level and you've got the season, he's got you can definitely be in a running.

Definitely. That's not a bad shout at all. That's not a bad shout. Yeah.

Very good. Good. Well, I'm still kind of hanging my hat on Dylan J. I think he's got some, he's got some parts in him, but to really win it, are we kind of, year by year is always different, right?

This year, you're fucked. Yeah. You got to put your parts out. You know, to really beat boy, you needed three parts at least and somebody's always been doing three parts out, but you needed legit and you need a powerhouse behind you as well.

We like the, the, the glass, I think his name was that, you know, obviously just didn't hit our radar at all. He's not in our world and probably because he's not in the big enough, you know, he's doing a dime. He's doing, so he's not necessarily getting a primitive new balance, you know, death wish, like, you know, he's not hitting dickies. He's not hitting those big names that are getting on Thrasher, top of the list on their longer because they're probably, you know, they're paying more for the sponsorship or whatever, or they're all closer to Thrasher.

So they're not getting the exact exposure. That's it. I don't feel like it's made a big breakthrough yet. You know, everyone kind of needs to really know who you are and be following.

They want to want to see more, you know. So yeah, but could put him in the run for the next year? Who knows? Because I'm still waiting for Chris Weimar to fucking turn up and to really set shit apart.

Really waiting because he's got all the, not to say he hasn't put some shit out, mate, but you know, he needs January, February comes around, he needs to be putting a zero part out. He needs it done. He needs another one ready to go Christmas time. You know, that's it.

Before he did it, you know, for the sake of video was, sorry, the Deaf Wish video was early in the year. I remember what month it was, but let's say it was March or something. So we'd give yourself a decent, decent part to start a year. He's sprinkled us.

He's been relevant the whole time. And then he's destroyed us at the end of the year. I mean, Nigel, you never know, mate, Nigel could have another run. I find it.

I think it would be difficult for him to get back to that year that you lost. I'm trying to think he lost you now. Yeah, and that year, tough one, right? Yeah.

I personally, you know, I think Nigel probably did deserve to win that year. He was the skater of the year that year. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. That was that back. Yeah, exactly. That back to you down that big hover, like curved hover, you know, danger, Phil.

Yeah, he put the work in and obviously just with the 50s, the five oaks run around rails, mate. Yeah. He did, like you said before, he stretched skateboarding. He did really kind of take that rail game to another level.

Yeah. Because he won, he's just won the Superground, isn't he? I think in the street league. Okay.

Yeah. So he's, he's in the contest scene. He's moving. Hopefully we'll get another one out of him.

But for Nigel, is it hard for him to put out three video parts because he's got, I'm not saying he doesn't have tech, mate. You know, not saying he doesn't have tech, but you're not seeing Nigel hitting the big spin backtail here on a, you know, one of those stranger guy, Mariano spots. Yeah. Yeah.

Exactly. You're not seeing, you're not seeing that from Nigel. So if you're harder for Nigel to put out a child remains part. I think, yeah.

Three bangers, you know, and that's three tithethans parts. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

And is that possible? You know what? I think it is, is if Nigel has the drive because to get there where he was last time, he's got to give it is all like 100%, you know, every day as hard as he can, which being as accomplished to the skater and everything that all of his achievements and awards is probably quite a lot harder that, you know, to really go for it again and again. And with injuries.

Yep. You know, he's, he's going to be, you know, we saw some of those slams. I think it was in that, in that same video part where he's going to 50, 50 at the start and he fucking goes down and a sack of shit in like, in next to the bush or whatever. I think it's a king, you can derail whatever and he goes down like a sack of shit.

Oh, yeah. So you hit one of them, mate, in January, you know, you might not be back on a board for a couple of years. Yeah, easy. Yeah, exactly.

So it's harder, whereas if he's hitting these cheeky little spots, you know, doing what a guy would do, or even some like, costing, no, costing, pushing it as well, but he could lower the bar and still hit very, very top target. You know, although we're not taking anything away, because like you said, no one else can do this switchbacks. I know it's one hardest, hardest tricking a book and then sticking the foot out of the end of it. It's still lower.

You know, don't get wrong. You can still twist your fucking ankles, mate. You know, on, on flat ground, like I've done recently, but it's not the same as trying to, you know, and for always obviously done well, we know flip 50s, me, down fingers. That's, that's asking for injuries right there.

Yeah. So it'll be harder for Nigel. I just think it'll be harder for him to yeah, to put out a clean street part on the curbs, on the ledges, you know, hit the courthouse ledges, you know, those, yeah, couple of line, couple of real lines, not a couple of one, two trick bangers, like some proper lines. And the thing is, he's got the lines because you know, he's not throwing as much shit on his social media at the moment, you know, on Instagram, but you know, go back a few years, mate, some of his lines that he was putting out on the Instagram, some long ones, some super long ones.

And if they were just filmed with a camera rather than a phone, he could have put that in a video part because he was going fast, super fast, hitting kick, you know, kick the big trail, whatever, and then boosting the rally end, you know, only takes a few of them, then you know, stretches your part out a little bit more. Oh, yeah, yeah, definitely. Yes, crazy. Who else could they be in the run-ins for next year?

The primitive it with jade motta was it that kianna skate was he the third man in that video? Could well have been. Yeah, my sheet, it might well have been. Yeah.

So maybe, you know, if we're talking, because we, you know, when we saw that video, we knew that those boys were kind of, we don't just get on primitive as we know, you got to be so special, and especially to get on as a young man, not someone who's finished skateboarding for the past 20 years, you know, you know, it's an achievement. Yeah, I mean, you've always got Shane knocking about if he's, if he wants to put out some, some bigger stuff, but he's probably probably not. Yeah, I can't see it, but it's possible. It's possible.

It's possible. You know, I mean, I suppose Mark Zootou come out of nowhere, really, you know, I know, as you think about it, no, he's been skating well for a long time, but to hit, to hit that video that you hit, you know, the Verso video, you know, 10 minute part, that carries a lot of weight. Oh, it's ridiculous, yeah. Three songs, whatever, you can, you can bring yourself.

Put yourself up. Yeah. Did they, did they release like a, yeah, right, I've got the Thrasher Contenders listening in front of me. So they, yeah, I mean, I don't really agree with that.

Antonio D'Raro, you know, the old numbers, you know, switch runs, I flip man. Weird. I'm going to put out that, mate. You can hit those runs, I flip, it's all he wants.

But when he puts that one foot out there, at the end of the catch, you know, I'm talking about, I'm not a fan of that. No, I like his job. You always jabs that. Why is he chapping his foot out?

I don't get it. Yeah, no, I don't know. I think he's great. Top's here.

Great. I love watching his work, his work, great lines, you know, big ledges, big sares. But yeah, he was in a run at Braden-Hoben, you know, he's coming mate as well. Don't you forget, you know, he's maybe not next year because he's had a strong year this year.

It might be hard to kind of keep going, but he's definitely, definitely around there. Brandon Westgate, I don't really think, I mean, they're just throwing numbers up here now, but I don't think Westgate was ever in contention really to do it. Yeah, unfortunately. Dan Van Galinden as well.

Really? So much radio alumni, Volkum, anti-hero. He was on the list, mate. Haven't seen much of his shit.

Yeah. Yeah, Glasso. Dylan Jabers in the list, Elijah Burl, Emil Lauren. Must be some French cater I've never heard of.

Gabe Summers had the great part earlier in the year. I'm trying to get a name. Did it like it was a backsmith down a nice yellow rail? Yeah, and he did that curved rail as well.

Oh, did he hit the, oh, was it like a hillflip crook down a huge hover? Yeah. I dropped down like a ten or something to set himself up. Yeah, just rode down it, then did the hillflip crook.

That's heavy part. Yeah. Yeah. Great part.

Great part. But, you know, one part doesn't, it's not going to get you there, is it? But yeah, maybe, you know, fair enough. Jankar Gonzalez.

Yeah, a couple of parts. Joseph Campos. This year, I mean, that's a token female boat right there. I don't, you know, I get why we kind of like to put the girls in with the boys for the skateboard year, because we expect, you know, it's a more inclusive kind of thing, but that's, you know, they're not pushing the same.

It's just, well, this is, it's genetics, mate. Yeah, fuck me. You just, you're not going to have the power. You're not going to, it's just, it's not there.

It might happen. You never know. It might happen. But it's, you're asking a lot.

Shane O'Neill was in the contention they put him in their anti-ago lemmas. So a decent, a decent list. But I can't, uh, yeah, I can't see many of these people being lined up for next year. But Braden Hoeben could definitely put himself up there, Dylan J, could be up there again.

Yeah. Maybe Gabe's up as mate. You know, he just needs, he needs three. He's got, I can see him definitely doing it.

He's got these definitely got the tricks to do it. He's got big boy tricks, interesting tricks. Got a big, bit of attack in there as well, mate. Alex Ramirez was pumped a little bit this year.

He kills it a lot. It'd be nice to see a lot more. I don't know how much he put out, but he was throwing up there by some people. Yeah, no one I can think of that's going to really kind of, I mean, it's John Shanahan, you know, he always gets fucking left out mate and he's always putting shout, always putting some help.

But I suppose he treats us to those cheeky over the videos, you know, like the, was that that Copenhagen video, or Malmo. Yeah. You know, we get to read you to those things more from, and even Kevin, Kevin, Bill, you know, top, top, top, top, tier skater, but it's a shame to, for them to win it, they would need to fuck off all those side projects. Yeah, at least I don't know what I wanted to do it though, mate.

No, that's it. I love those videos. They wouldn't be able to, but I think it's just the same thing, you know, it's not everyone's cup of tea. Well, they don't want the big shoe, the big DC shoe Aggie guy winning skater a year.

They ain't gonna like the Switch push, they ain't gonna understand it. Yeah. You know, they ain't got, they ain't got it. Yeah, Shanahan's definitely the caliber, mate.

Oh, yeah. He's got, he's pretty all rounded as well. You know, he can do a bit of everything. It's training as well, mate.

I feel like his, maybe like two years ago, or three years ago, when they were doing the DC tour and his face was out there quite a bit more. He just snuck out another like two parts or something. Could have been able to get a little bit more up there. We never know.

You never know. Could have a good year, mate. 20, 20, 25. You said Mott is straight away, mate.

So just stick one more and I'll go for Jay. And we'll have a little next time next year. We'll see, we'll see if we're, we'll probably forget who we picked, but we'll see. We'll see.

Anything else to bring to the table, mate? Well, we're, I suppose I could tell you about my injury. I was like skating recently. It's good.

It's good. I'm in Ho Chi Minh, living a Ho Chi Minh at the moment, people, and found myself a lovely plaza, lovely little plaza. Three stairs all the way around it, like around the outskirts of this plaza. And then on the top of the plaza, there's like a three up, three downs and super flat.

I'm just getting my legs, you know, I've been there for a couple of days or whatever, just getting my legs and I'm just pushing around doing manis, you know, getting my getting my manis in there, just scraping all these doing some 180s and stuff, just getting myself, this is, you know, probably, yeah, two days after landing. So I was a little bit kind of wobbly, so, you know, I mean, wasn't kind of, uh, didn't I just drink my legs? And, uh, yeah, 180s were, you know, just getting them, getting them refined, you know, I was getting them, I was happy with them. I didn't want to kind of go too fast too soon.

I didn't want to stop living the border. And then I was like, well, I mean, I'm in switch, fakey. So I'm just going to, I'm just going to put, just bring myself around with a half-cab lit, mate, because I don't miss them. I find it one of the easiest tricks.

Don't miss them. And, uh, before I hadn't even kicked, yeah, mate, hadn't even done a kick flip, because I thought this, I don't know if you've backed me up with this, it's a half-cab lit. You can, they come around easy. Really easy.

They just, you swing them, you swing them. Just as easy as a fucking literally a half-cab. You just poke it down there and it will, it will do your work for you. Did it, came all the way around in front of foot, just did not land perfectly on the board.

Didn't, it was just not on it. And it just rolled off the edge. When I, yeah, and then just rolled nicely. Actually was reading a book in the park, like just, you know, like 100 meters away, whatever.

I'm coming over there, hobbling back over. Oh fuck, yeah, it was a, it was a real good one. So, um, yeah, I've been waiting this, it's been a while, but it's, it's feeling, like I said, you before came on, I went for a run yesterday and it was feeling all right. But that's, it's still different than throwing a kick flip.

It's not, it's not ready for a kick flip yet. It's, and I was, after I was pissed off, really pissed off, because I plazas are great, man. There's a lot of good areas around here to skate. Really nice, fuck me, the curbs, they're all grannin'.

All the curbs are going, I mean, you might not be able to skate all of them because, you know, you might get in trouble. So what I play that game a little bit and see what the reaction is of the locals, if you do it outside of the shop, are they going to come and you know, call the police or fucking, you know, take you down or whatever, but there's so many good spots here. Nice. You know, there's some busy areas which you'd be very dangerous to skate because you've got more pits knocking around left, right and center.

There's a lot of good plazas. There's a few parks that I've got just a nice little center piece. So all the parks got this little center piece, mate, and like I said, it's all made out of granite. Yeah.

All of it's granite. So, um, yeah, hopefully, hopefully in a week, I'll try, I'll try to give it a little test. Yeah, a little test. See, uh, I'm gonna have to hit that half-cap flip straight away.

I'm gonna have to, I've got to go back to it. There's no way I can let that trick be a scary one. You know what I mean? The hill flip version is scary enough.

I can't lose the kicklet. Yeah, the skates, I haven't seen loads of skaters. There's just one, um, one mall that's quite famous. I think it's the Viacom Center or something like that.

And they've got like, you know, a few stairsets, but the path's quite small and there's a lot of people knocking about. So I don't want to be in a position of shinning somewhere, you know. I just, I don't need that. Yeah, not yet.

You know, once I've climatized, I can do it. So that's why I'm just picking all the plazas and little cheeky spots. But yeah, there's a lot of open areas I can hopefully without fucking twisting my ankle again. Kick back in the game.

Yeah, nice. That's awesome. It's fun when you can find cool, cool, cool new spots. Yeah.

Yeah. Like I said, somebody's kerbs, you wouldn't even do waxing. Yeah. I've been mad at kerbs.

I walk past me and it's like, I saw this one the other day. I was getting one of the sim cards. So I'm not using my fucking English. Yeah.

So I've got a cancel my contract. I think it's in January. So I'm still, so I'm not really using that though now. So I've got a, got a new sim from this place.

And out the front of there, they had like the, the path had almost been broken up by the trees a little bit and started kind of creating a little ramp. Nice. A bump. And your little bump mate.

And then on the side of that bump was one of, you know, is a line of those granite kerbs. And it's just, it would be such a, you could play on it. You know, you could do, you know, you could do your back 180 switch 50s back 180 nose rhymes. Because it's not, the kerbs are a little bigger than back.

I'm probably more American size kerbs. And I probably saw it so much. So what, what you kind of see over in Canada. But yeah, like, you could just, you can tell no acne.

Yeah. You can just, you can tell like some of the roads you walk down, the some of the pavement you walk down, you can slip is if the rains come down, like, it starts getting slipping very quickly. Nice. Yeah.

Whereas you don't get in England, there's none of that. There's none of that. You know, so, um, there's some good skates to be added even, even on the, on the pavement, they've got like, um, they've got rails to kind of stop the moped from going down the, the path. Yeah.

Essentially when, when it rush out hits, it gets mad. Yeah. Like five o'clock is fucking mad. And they'll just go down the pavement.

They'll think, fuck it on the way in this track. If I played with them, you know, I'll be exactly the same as I fucking said, I'm in a moped. I can, I can navigate this. But they put rails kind of like, like flat bars and then kind of little, little rails should find the car parts of the Westgate.

You know, the, uh, I think you, you 50 to 51 in one of the Instagram edits, we did those sort of things, but even smaller, even smaller. And, uh, they've just got them knocking about little bits everywhere. You know, there's, there's skate spots everywhere, but you still need to figure out, you know, what the, the Lord of Lam is, you know, you don't want to be. Yeah.

You know, front of hotels, all of them have got great, great spots in front of these hotels, mate. You know, legit spots, all black marble, all just ready to go. But, you know, you know, you're seeing as you hit that first 50 on there, you could be getting a goshy to the ground. You know, you don't know.

Yeah, you don't know. So different. But yeah, like I said, it's, and all those ledges, all those, all those stone is just a slapy nose, even if you're just, just passing through a spot, mate, you know, you would be able to do it. You'd be able to, as long as you might not be able to session with spots.

But I think if you want to just slip a nose slide or a cheeky, cheeky crook on the way out or something, you know, you just, in and out, I don't think you'd need to prep the spot. Yeah, nice. I think you could just do it. So that might, that might be an angle of approach.

I might have to try and do, you know, just on a. Pass or play. Space, yeah. Yeah, yeah.

But you can't really skate down the street like you can in England. It's not too much traffic. It's, it's all kind of a grid reference sort of style. So you can't, yeah, you've got blocks.

Skating blocks is different, right? You know, you've got crossing every few hundred metres. So you can get cleaned out. So it's not as easy just to knock around skating there.

You do have to kind of go to the spot. I'm sure some of the skates do. I haven't seen anyone just shredding down a road. Are there any skate parks or skate shops or anything?

Yeah, yeah. There's the, there's a side on skate shop and it's got indoor parking there as well. And I was planning, my game plan made, go to this class. I just get myself back in the game, you know, hit the front side flip kick flip just working every time.

And then I was going to go to the skate park just so I was, you know, I'd have my own space and I was, you know, I'd have my own space and I'd have to compete with knocking about other people and I wanted to kind of get my shit down and then I was going to go there. But it looks awesome. Yeah, you know, if you check out on Instagram, it's a really great indoor park. Really, really cool.

It's kind of all old school barracks style. Of setup, you know, it's a really, it's got the bump to par. It's got little, you know, it's got hubbers. It's got, it's got the work.

So definitely plan on hitting it. But I need to, when I go there, I don't want to be, you know, flat, I don't want to be hitting my flat land. I want to be going down the hubbers. But I need, I need to, you know, like I said, that kick flip needs to be, where it needs to be so that I can join the park when I'm there.

I don't want to be kind of like, you know, doing kick flips and front-side flips or backs, or flips on hips and my flip isn't where I want it to be, you know, I want it to be strong first and I'll take it to it because I don't want to be, it just be, be more enjoyable to have it. I get you. Rather than go there and then playing around. But I think there might be one more indoor park as well, but I think it's shared with like roller skaters and just people knocking about, you know, so it's probably not necessarily as enjoyable.

We might have a few more kids there. And you know, that's the reason why I used to go eight in the morning to skate parks, because you know, can't compete. I can't be, I can't be taking down a kid. Can't be doing it these days.

That's the reality. You know, I might think we're kids, but it's like, no, you are a bloke now. You know, you're going to carry them all the way. You know, you're going to hurt someone if you, you know, fuck up a backside flipping your out control and that board flies out a million miles an hour and you just fucking take a kid's legs off or whatever.

Or you're not looking in body check. You know, I can't have that in my, yeah, I can have that in my conscience. No, no, it's not. It wouldn't be good.

I had a really bad one at a cut slow once. What's your know? So you know the peer, Manny, just doing the nose man. And I was like skating the park like in a big circle, coming down doing the nose man.

That was kind of my run. I was repeating a little girl on a scoot. When you nose, Manny, and you just looking at your toes pretty much where I am. At the end of the peer center leg was this little girl on the scooter just waiting in the landing spot for me.

Pretty much just a knee to the face. Probably six years old. And as I need to the face, I almost just ran over her. So I kind of like grabbed her, touched her down to the floor and then ran, carried on running.

Luckily not on a, you didn't land the trick. No, I know it was bad because I didn't. Oh, God. Luckily, she was fine.

You know, luckily kids are, kids are fine. 15 minutes later. She was back to it, not crying anymore. Yeah.

In a way, it's a good thing you didn't see earlier because you might have then nose down. Because that's the scariest thing, you know, panic bells. Yeah, I wouldn't even dare try a nose man. Because I'd be over the top of me.

Not me. Hands and shoulders first, over the top. Because it's a long way down. Yes.
