Een verhaal over gewenste en ongewenste stadsbewoners, verteld aan de hand van één klein dier dat een duikvlucht maakte van ‘nuttig en welkom’ naar ‘vieze vliegende rat’: de stadsduif. Veel mensen doen er alles aan om de duif uit hun buurt te houden: ze plaatsen netten op hun balkon of ijzeren pinnen op randjes waar de vogels graag neerstrijken. Journalist en duivenliefhebber Mina Etemad niet. Als zich een duivenpaartje op haar balkon nestelt, kijkt ze vertederd toe hoe de bedelende duivenbaby’s uitgroeien tot pubers. Samen met journalist Brechtje Keulen onderzoekt ze hoe duiven eigenlijk in de stad terecht zijn gekomen en hoe we het beste kunnen samenleven met deze dieren.
