We can see something, hear something, and believe something is genuine, only to discover that we've been deceived. Technology is making that problem even more difficult. The question is not simply, “What is true?” but “How do we know what is true, and what can we really trust?”God's Word gives us an answer, but it also gives us something we need even more—a way of thinking that helps us recognize truth and reject deception. Jesus said, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled.” Hunger and thirst are not casual desires. When you're truly hungry or thirsty, you know it. It gets your attention. You want to satisfy that need.So Jesus is describing something much deeper than simply wanting to be a good person. He is talking about a genuine desire for God's way of thinking, God's character, and God's righteousness. Do we hunger and thirst for righteousness that way? Is becoming more like God something we genuinely desire, or is it simply something we know we're supposed to do?Tonight, we'll look at what it means to hunger and thirst after righteousness, why righteousness is so important to God, and how His Word is intended to transform the way we think and live.
