June 1987

from Heavy Metal History: The Podcast · host Dustin K.

Welcome to this weeks episode of The Heavy Metal History Podcast. On this weeks episode we go back to June of 1987 (We skipped June somehow) In June we see a crossover band make waves with their 2nd album, and album that took almost 4 years to get out and they even alienated quite a bit of their original fan base with just this release. Whether thats because their listeners weren’t ready for musical growth or the album was just bad is for you to decide. Out of the ashes of Black Flag Henry Rollins forges the Rollins Band and releases a blistering Metallic Hardcore album for our ears once again by will of his insane work ethic changing the face of music with this release. The Swiss band Celtic Frost opens up their 3rd album in one of the strangest ways imaginable by having a cover song as the 1st track on the album. And its not a good cover song either, we don't know the reasoning behind WHY they chose to do this, but if I ever have the chance to talk to Tom G. Warrior, you can bet I will find out why. We also are trying out a new segment called "The Weekly Breakdown" where we discuss new releases and tell you about the new record reviews on the website. Albums we discussed this week were: Suicidal Tendencies - "Join the Army" Rollins Band - "Life Time" Celtic Frost - "Into the Pandemonium" Follow the Podcast! Facebook Instagram YouTube
