#21 - The Origin of Christianity: Miracles, Mosaics & The Council of Jerusalem | Ralph Ellis

from Vocation · host Matty

In this thought-provoking episode (#21), host Matty and historical researcher Ralph Ellis continue their revisionist examination of early Christianity's origins, focusing on miracles, archaeological evidence, and pivotal events. They explore potential technological or natural explanations for first-century miracles, the rise and cultural significance of Palmyra as a wealthy hub, and the intriguing Huqoq Synagogue Mosaic as a visual clue to biblical narratives. The discussion critiques Josephus as a questionable historical source ("scoundrel"), analyzes the complex timeline of Jesus and related figures through "The Three Faces of Jesus," and dissects the Council of Jerusalem's role in shaping Christian doctrine amid competing influences. Blending archaeology, historical chronology, and alternative interpretations, Ellis challenges mainstream accounts to reveal a more layered and contested foundation of the faith. A rigorous, evidence-driven dive into Christianity's formative mysteries.Chapters:00:00 Exploring Miracles and Technology in the First Century09:23 The Rise of Palmyra: A City of Wealth and Culture 14:19 Huqoq Synagogue Mosaic21:51 The Complex Timeline of Jesus and Historical Figures 25:03 Josephus The Scoundrel31:33 Mainstream's Main Issue36:38 The Three Faces of Jesus41:06 The Council of Jerusalem: Origins of Christianity51:27 The Timeline of EventsFollow me on: X: https://x.com/Vocation0110Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/6EkGvmnGiWrN46iGasNRp2apple podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/vocation/id1865523490Find Ralph on:Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/RalphEllis/videosX channel: https://x.com/ralphyellisFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/ralph.ellis.144/Paperback and Tablet books:Egyptian Testament Series: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0753FWD9DThe King Jesus Trilogy: https://www.amazon.co.uk/The-King-Jesus-Trilogy/dp/B09Q3H8H84Audio books: https://play.google.com/store/audiobooks/series?id=iXAuHAAAABimZM
