210: Kenner's Jim Swearingen and Pixar Fest
from Skywalking Through Neverland: Keeping the Star Wars Magic Alive · host Skywalking Through Neverland
Jim Swearingen, concept designer at Kenner, is making his podcast debut! Jim worked on Star Wars toys at Kenner as the lead concept designer from 1976-1979. His career in toys took him on a journey through not only Star Wars, but Strawberry Shortcake and Play-Doh. He might even reveal the secret ingredient that makes Play-Doh work! Richard's mother owes Jim a great debt of gratitude, since his Star Wars toys kept him quiet for hours on end when Richard was a kid. Pixar Fest debuted at Disneyland Resort on Friday, April 13th, celebrating Pixar with themed food, merchandise and entertainment. We checked out the offerings and give a full report on the re-theming. Want to see rather than hear about it? Our favorite part was the Pixarmonic Orchestra, and you can watch their entire 20-minute set on our YouTube channel. Also on this episode, we look back at Star Wars Celebration Orlando 2017 - one year ago. We celebrate the memories all of our Skywalkers have been sharing.
