Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. I'm listening to the All Talk Car Podcast, hosted by Peter Rana, joining me today in a special live drive is I'm an Sava from formerly from Parramatta Prestige. We're driving something really special. We are having something very special.
I had it for 24 hours and now I let the owner drive it so I can focus on talking without going. Uh, uh, we're in a BMW M3, not just any M3, but the first one, the Origin, the E30. It's in Australia, it never got salty, it's a left-hand drive. It's a rip-out of a car.
I haven't stopped smiling for 24 hours. Mate, what an awesome car. Thank you for letting me have it do it. Nah, no worries, I'll plan on thinking for, um, sharing the driving experience.
Yeah, this is a special car. It's a well, definitely a well-fact car, the E30. This car... Because you're being an original live-hand drive, there's a lot of people who are running drives.
I know, it's an 87-year-old car. And there's stuff, one, it doesn't make a noise. Like, there's no squeaks or rattles. It's got stuff in here that you can't find on your cars.
It's got heated seats. It's got a trip computer from 87. It's got a console, I put it on Instagram, where you hit the check light, and there's about seven boxes that light up that tell you that everything's okay, like, wash up, lower, engine oil and low beam, and the lights for the number plate. 1987, like that.
It's absolutely amazing. And basically, this is a race car. It got built... If you remember the 80s, Group B, they raced in Australia, Jim Richards?
It's only long-hearsed. Jim Richards as well? Yeah. So the M3s were taken on the Commodores in the Group B rules.
So they raced, that was an international category for touring cars. Germany had Group B and started England. And they had to build 5,000 of these cars. And I think you said they sold the best...
But they kept the E30 model going from 87 through to 91. And they never came to Australia, except for the race cars. They never officially came here, but... The M3s never came here.
No. But then the E30 came here, both of them. But not as a classic as well. The M3 is just an absolute wow factor.
With the pumped-out guards at the back of the front. It's a completely different car. Yeah, so even though they built 5,000, there's only three shared panels with three series. And it was the Sunroof, the...
On it. And the windscreen, I think, was... No, the windscreen's different. The windscreen's different.
The windscreen's different as well. I think I'm on it. The bootle is different. The doors are different.
It's different because they've got no door molds. It's purely for... They're making their own... Yeah, definitely.
They just went all out in this car. It's amazing how many people appreciate these cars as well. It's like a... It looks like a...
It looks at us and appreciates the car. Must have been an iconic backing, I think, that he said when they first came out. It was... It was...
It was... I'll tell you what happened to me. I'm just trying to find what was unique about the parts. It was...
The Sunroof panel. Sunroof? Panel? Bond it?
It was the same. So the rear window was flattened? The windscreen's different as well. The tailgate had...
It's got the spoiler built into the boot, into the tail of the tail down-written American website. It was just... So the shared panels were bonnet, roof and sunroof. One...
Oh, the roof. The roof panel. So every other item on the car is different. It's the wooden doors.
The front splitter, the spoiler. Everything. Everything is different in here. It was only for the European models.
The American models didn't get it. But that's the dog-leaked key box. Oh, yeah. So this is a five-speed manual.
And traditionally, it's called an H-pad. You go up, down, across, up, down. So you're creating an H with your hand. And traditionally, here, box of stuff from the top left, number one.
And it goes to three, four. With this one, number one's bottom left. And they're called at the dog-leaked. So when you're racing, you take off only in first gear, you only use first gear when you take off.
And you go first to second. And then when you're racing, you're only using second at the top third, fourth, fifth. So you're only using that H. And it's to stop you from accidentally going into first if you drop it in a second and blow the engine.
So that's the reason why... Can you tell us where we are at the moment? We're at Kirit, Billy. And where we going?
We're under the half bridge. I've already had some dash games to show you. Instead of thrashing it through twists and turns, we're going to see Nick Wig. And the pock, I just tried to turn the air on a bit.
The noise, the air hits the mic. That's why we have to struggle for ten minutes. So, and not to mention it's left hand drive. I pulled my shoulder out last night.
Because of me, he's parked it under the layer with his secure parking. And you're trying to go through the goggles drive through there. That's not going to struggle as well. If you're going to drive a left hand car driving Australia or a right hand drive in America, just be aware that you can't reach the boom gate.
You can't order food. Not that you're trying to order food in this car. But if I can pull my shoulder out, I can't. So what I did is I jumped out of the seat.
I went across, I tried not to let my leg wreck the key stick. To bend it, touch the gate. By the time I sat in. By the time I sat in.
It was okay, closed. So I pushed all the car under the pedals and fucking was buddy. So, going out, just ran around, tapped it, ran back in and left. But left hand drive, it's very appealing.
And you said head turn in the 80s, it's a head turner today. I thought they were giving me space to change lanes. But they were actually looking at the car. And they were just admiring the car.
It's like, it is a head turner. It's a beautiful white, limited dish, and white. Out-point light. Out-point light.
And it's all dry. It's a smoke. Out-point vice. Because they're going to stick around and enter.
They're going to stick around and enter. They're going to enter. They're going to enter. That's right.
Out-point vice. It's actually kind of unique. Next up to the BMW. You see them?
And I never feel these cars. Oh, for sure. And it's been a wonderful years. They do it in evolution each year.
So they kept the success going. This is the original one. It's an 87. Make the interior.
And make the ultimate driving machine. It's good for the car. The seats are so comfy. The race seats are so cool.
You don't. The car is not hurting. The handles. The handles are beautiful.
Just as we had just seen a beautiful driver's car. The ultimate driving machine. That was there. That was there.
And it's true. And the dash is angled to the driver. I can't see the buttons. That's beautiful.
It's definitely a wow factor. Definitely one of the best cars on the next two years. Mate. He's in Australia on the roads.
Like I said 24 hours, I've got a lot of race cars and I've got a lot of track with this thing. It was just a wow factor. Very nice, I just can't fault it at all. No, no, and the kids are easy to change.
Just very easy to cut. You're so keep thinking, dog league. Yeah, yeah. Ah, yeah, amazing.
What about the old? They've really, they've had very nice. Did you have a look at the engine bay? Yeah, we've all got the engine bay.
I see the individual throttle bodies. Yeah, and the way I'm gonna upload the photo, the way the hood opens too. It's like, it slides forward and then opens backwards. So is there a reason, I mean, you work in the game.
Is it a mechanical, is it an easy to work on a bonnet that opens? That way it was actually designed, oh, maybe it doesn't open on the auto bar. Is it because it opens? Maybe it's safety.
Yeah, safety. We'll never open upwards. That's right. Remember the Mercedes Bonnet in the 80s, the nice to flick after one of the race.
You have to bonnet lock. Yeah, so that way. Maybe it wasn't the same issue. I'll make it.
But it was only the three series that these... That's right, and one five of the sevens. Maybe it wasn't the three series. That's right.
It was just the three series. Oh, it's kind of. It's very nice. It's just thinking, you know, the dashboards, you should have the max.
You've got a crack on the dash. You've got cassette holders. Remember they went through a phase out of the cassette holders and had the three wee holders? If you've got a cassette in there, it'll melt.
What about why the Germans loved doing that? That's right. But it was an unlimited car. Which of the survey, mate?
This guy could have high five, he gets a nice car. He goes, I regret selling my three one eight. I'm picking mate. It's not a three one eight.
And they just hold it. They need two big wee scars. Oh, they're going up and up. They're just going up and up.
It's just a three-two-three-two-three. Absolutely. You don't see them on the road. Anyone else I like that's doing well, it's big.
It's not a fucking bubble on it. That's right. You can just hold it and drive. The only thing is each time I start the car, the key ignition's on the right where the wipers are.
So I'd always bump it. So when I start the car, the wipers are on. But everything else is just amazing. And it's a four-seater, a two-fourseater, a two-bucket-seater, a swag mate.
And that smell, that BMW, that leather, it's real leather. It's not enough for you to get them out of here. It's not like my Tesla, it's not like my Tesla 5D. It's just, I can't stop.
But, mate, give me a two-two-three-two. There you go. Thank you for allowing me. I'm happy that you actually allowed me to drive the car.
You'll be for a while. I was in that car. And it just happened for the intro. It was like, can you get me a four-way?
He just happened. Does this happen? Like, if all the planets are lined and they're set up. Well, I can say the Rossies, you can just out.
I can say it to out. But we can have a play with it again. That's why those guys say it. Hey, thank you again.
And bye for now.
