22.07 Setting the Table of Christ and Culture (Part 11)

from Indigenous Faith · host Craig & LaDonna Smith

In today's episode, Craig and LaDonna Smith continue to help Indigenous believers in Christ have the right and proper context of the Scriptures by viewing it from the prism of a Jewish and Gentile world, and not the normal Native and White context that the normal Native life has been filtered through for so many generations.  This thought process is further expanded on today by several important passages in Paul's letter to the church in Rome.  In chapter 1 he identifies himself as an apostle to the Gentiles and in Romans 11, he identifies the church using the analogy of a cultivated olive tree, made up of branches that represent the Church of Christ among all cultures and people groups.  The Jewish believers are identified as natural branches that have been broken off in unbelief, and the Gentile believers as those branches that were wild by nature yet grafted in right alongside the natural branches.  There's no way a Native believer in Christ could understand these passages apart from understanding Scripture's context of Jew and Gentile.  The Smiths encourage the listener to, with great intentionality, seek to embrace this contextualization of the Scriptures as their new normal .  Doing so will help build the strongest Indigenous Faith that rightfully divides (understands) the Word of Truth!
