The City of Cape Town has asked for an urgent investigation to determine why the National Department of Human Settlements has halted a multi million rand grant payment to the City. The national grant of about 13 point seven million rand pays the salaries of staff responsible for housing delivery projects. Mayoral Committee member for Human Settlements, Benedicta van Minnen says the payment was due on the 17th of this month, but the City had been informed three days prior, that the transfer has been halted 'until further notice'. She says all metros are affected.
