#22 Ayşe Tümerkan’ın Frankeştayn’ı, tabii ki literatüre yeni bir katkı

Ayşe Tümerkan, Frankeştayn kitabevini kurduğunda, Tophane’deki bu küçük dükkanın birkaç sene sonra İstanbul’un belki de en bilinen bağımsız kitabevi olacağını bilemezdi. Birçok kitapsever genç, bugünlerde soluğu burada alıyor, çünkü bu mekan kendini yeniden üreterek gerçek bir kamusal alan olmayı başardı. THE SHEER ile beraber genç müzisyenlere ev sahipliği yaptığı konserleriyle, yeni yazarların imza günleri veya azınlık konularla ilgili yaptıkları atölyelerle, bugün birçoklarınca Tophane’nin en güzel gizli bahçesi haline gelmiş durumda. Many young book lovers flock here today because the space has managed to reinvent itself and become a true public space. With concerts featuring young musicians, in collaboration with THE SHEER, book signings by new authors, and workshops on minority issues, it has become, for many, Tophane's most beautiful hidden garden. Young people's lives aren't just about concerts or nightlife; reaching young readers is also part of the culture and arts sector, and we talked to Ayşe about how this works.
