22: Being Vegan at Burning Man
from Vegan Radio · host Derek Pashupa Goodwin
Recently Derek went to the Burning Man Festival in the Black Rock Desert in Nevada. If you don't know what the Burning Man Festival is about, well we don't have space to describe it properly here, but you can check out Molly Steenson's review on the BM website. In show 22 Derek relates his experiences at the event. We feature a live interview on the playa with the folks from VegCamp, the only vegan-themed camp that Derek found. We also feature a phone interview with Vegan Radio favorite Tonya Kay, who was also at the event (although Derek never crossed paths with her). We don't have a musical guest this time, but Derek mixed together a Bill Hicks comedy routine with a drum and bass type mix from DJ Kirill who is a friend of Derek's from San Francisco. Neither of these sources are vegan but together with some random cow noises they capture an element of Derek's experience. The Naked News features stories about the SHAC Activists Sentencing, the death of the crocodile hunter, a vegetarian dog that does yoga, cows with regional accents, and the Ronald McHummer campaign.
