22. Part 2 Eating in alignment with your cycle & beyond: Ovulation and Luteal Phase
from One For The Honey Podcast · host Emily Rault
Hi there honey! Part 2 of the 'Eating in alignment with you cycle & beyond' is here! If you are anything like me, it came as a rude shock when I found out I couldn't get pregnant at any time during my menstrual cycle. I felt like all my life, I was taught how to not get pregnant, periods were painful, negative and embarassing. I spent years on the pill and had literally no idea about ovulation or when this actually occured! Today I break down both the ovulation and luteal phase. How we might expect to feel in these weeks of our cycle and the changes in hormones. To my surprise, I came across some delightful information about estrogen and progesterone. How they can impact on appetite and even our breathing! What?! There is a wild inerplay of our sex hormones and other hormones in the body. Stress, anxiety, illness, nutrient deficiences and more can all impact on the regularity or irregularities of our own menstrual cycle. This is why we cannot always rely on apps or generalisaitions of when we are "supposed" to ovulate or bleed. A high percentage of women do not ovulate on day 14 in every or any monthly cycle. For these reasons, I am sooooo passionate about open up this can of worms. The better we know our uniqe menstrual cycle, the more we can be compassaionte orf our bodies and live our lives in alignment.
