22. Pharmacy Organizations Are Worried / decreasing membership and engagement?

from Hey Rx Friends, We Got This! · host Hey Rx Friends, We got This!

In this episode, Thu and Saley discuss the challenges and opportunities facing pharmacy organizations, particularly the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). They dive into the recent bylaw changes at APhA, exploring the importance of bylaws, membership categories, and the organization's board of trustee structure. The conversation also covers the challenges pharmacy organizations are facing and the need for greater transparency and representation. Thu and Saley encourage pharmacists to take ownership of their careers and get involved in shaping the profession, whether through APhA or other avenues. Key Takeaways: 1. APhA's bylaws and constitution are crucial in defining the organization's structure, decision-making, and accountability to its members. 2. APhA has recently made significant changes to its membership categories and board composition, aiming to increase diversity and representation. 3. Pharmacists express frustration with APhA's perceived lack of advocacy and transparency, highlighting the need for better communication and demonstrating the organization's impact. 4. Pharmacy organizations, both national and local, struggle with member engagement and understanding the value proposition for joining and staying involved. 5. Pharmacists are encouraged to take ownership of their careers and professional development rather than passively waiting for organizations to drive change in the profession. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Chapters 00:00 Intro 06:10 Podcast updates 11:45 We are going to NPhA/SNhPA!! 16:08 APhA background info 19:23 Bylaw updates 30:10 Board of Trustees changes 41:16 Reddit's thoughts on APhA 57:16 Poor promotion and communication 1:00:52 Reddit's thoughts on local orgs 1:06:21 Final thoughts ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Follow us on social media ▷Hey Rx Friends, We Got This! https://linktr.ee/Heyrxfriends Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/heyrxfriendswgt TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@heyrxfriendswgt YouTube: Hey Friends We Got This ▷Thu https://linktr.ee/empoweredpharmd Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/empowered.pharmd/ LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/tn-empowered-pharmd Substack: https://drthurx.substack.com/ ▷Saley: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/reziprep360 LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/straore1 TikTok: https://www.linkedin.com/in/straore1 X: ReziPrep360 YouTube: @ReziPrep360 Business inquiries: [email protected] Disclaimer: All opinions are our own.

This Impact Studios production is a collaboration with the Governor family, UTS Faculty of Law and Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research. The Last Outlaws teamKatherine Biber - UTS Law Professor and Chief InvestigatorAunty Loretta Parsley - Great-granddaughter of Jimmy Governor and the Governor Family Historian Leroy Parsons - Governor descendant, Narrator and Co-WriterKaitlyn Sawrey - Host, Writer and Senior ProducerFrank Lopez - Writer, Managing Next Generation Energy Systems Cambridge University Background Stakeholders working with energy systems have to make complex decisions formulated from risk-based assessments about the future. The move towards more renewables in our energy systems complicates matters even further, requiring the development of an integrated power grid and continuous and steady transformation of the UK power system. Network flows must be managed reliably under uncertain demands, uncertain supply, emerging network technologies and possible failures and, further, prices in related markets can be highly volatile. Mathematicians working with engineers and economists, can make significant contributions to address such issues, by helping to develop fit-for-purpose models for next generation energy systems. These interdisciplinary approaches are looking to address a range of associated problems, including modelling, prediction, simulation, control, market and mechanism design and optimisation.
