22. Twilight: Tipsy and Talking Sh*t

Pour a drink and settle in for another Clair and Janice happy hour full of girl talk and making fun of pop culture. This month we explore the first two movies of the Twilight franchise and our horror and amusement watching them from the perspective of two breakup coaches who value equal, healthy relationships. Buckle your seatbelts, this conversation takes a few twists and turns! Some highlights: We discuss the messaging that the plot and characters send to young women, how relationships should be based on more than sex (or smell) appeal, and of course Jacob’s abs. With drinks in hand, we take a deep dive into Twilight and New Moon, two films that were all the rage earlier in the century, yet are problematic, to say the least. And we don’t hold ANYTHING back (for better or worse!). And spoiler alert: we don’t think Bella and Cullen are a good example of a healthy relationship.  Did you like the Twilight books or movies?
