#222 - Como ter Pensamentos Santos?

Mental Hygiene How to Discipline the Mind Stewardship of the Thoughts (Based on Our High Calling, pages 108-116) Gen 6:5 - Then [a]the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent[b] of the thoughts of his heart was only evil [c]continually. Rev 2:23 - I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works. Ps 19:14 - Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my [a]strength and my Redeemer. Mankind was given the ability to choose what they think Pure thoughts and clean meditation are not natural - due to our sinful nature Left to itself the mind will follow its evil desires, which will generate corresponding actions There must be a coordinated God/man action to control the mind The mind must be preoccupied with sacred and eternal things It is the work of the Spirit of God to bring thoughts into obedience to the will of Christ The youth should cultivate good habits of thought, not allowing it to dwell on things that are evil But how not allow the mind to dwell on evil things? Just a firm decision will not work. Giving the mind the right food Purposely thinking about good things; Ps 119:9-12 1 Pt 1:13-16 Suggestions The first and the last thoughts should belong to Christ Prayer Scriptures Spirit of Prophecy Diet affects thoughts Ps 101:3,4,6-10 To confess immediately if evil thoughts were entertained Well-formed plans - otherwise the mind will follow vague ideas and random plans Keep worthy purposes in view Thoughts should be trained to keep those purposes to the point as the compass to the pole Fixedness of purpose to carry out that which you should undertake Subjects upon which we must dwell The love of Jesus, and His character His sacrifices in our behalf, sufferings for the fallen race His work of mediation in our behalf The meaning of the plan of salvation The mission of Jesus, saving His people from their sins His exalted glory
