223: Chatting with Joshua Gray-Heim about His Novel Repentance of the Southern Burden

from Chats from the Blog Cabin · host MELISSA VERA

J.R. Gray-Heim (Joshua) grew up surrounded by family on their original homestead, nestled on the side of Spencer Mountain in Dallas, NC. As an older Millennial, he played a balancing act between Southern religious obligations and self-acceptance. Even with adversity and odds stacked against him, he knew he was destined for more than living the stereotypical Southern straight man’s role and more than what his small town could offer. He grew up with his eyes always set on the horizon, where the big city life in Charlotte, NC beckoned. Once his grandmother passed away, Joshua finally came out to himself and felt the freedom to begin dating the same sex for the first time. Then he went on the long journey of coming out to friends and family as he became more confident in his truth. Join me as we chat about the inspiring story of coming out of the closet while being raised in the south.  Facebook - SouthernBurden www.jrgrayheim.com Grab Repentance of The Southern Burden https://amzn.to/2VPyYCD
