Red gloves lifted in victory unleash a roar from a crowd waiting in anticipation for their champion to take home the belt! This moment is the picture-perfect snapshot for the front page of any magazine, newspaper, or social media post. It’s the moment that every fighter lives for. The difference between this picture and any that you’d see of the Church leaders of Acts is that their fight is not done so they can hold the belt. Whether it’s the hospitality of Aquila and Priscilla, the brilliance of Apollos, or the tenacity of Paul, none of these claims to be the undisputed champ. For although they lived their lives to fight the good fight and bring victory to the Church, they know in their heart of hearts that there’s only one champion. It always has been and always will be Jesus Christ.
