226. Man of La Mancha in New Spain

In the early 17th century, an aged veteran of Spain's wars against the Ottoman Empire published a book. It was the story of a poor nobleman who deludes himself that he is a knight errant and sets off on hilarious adventures. Don Quixote is an early 17th century fictional character made famous by the Spanish author, Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616). The story’s influence on North American literature is immeasurable.
