We had Ericka and Zach, owners of Haywire Farm in Thunder Bay join us in the studio to talk about farm life! In 2007 Ericka and Zach purchased a small farmstead together - ten years later, in 2017 they upgraded to an even larger farm! They currently raise laying chickens, meat chickens, bigs and cows. We talk about no days off as a farmer, about Thunder Bay's supportive community and farmer's markets, what it's like with our short growing season and how they manage their animals in our cold winters. Raising kids on the farm, and the colour ORANGE! We also talk about meat subscriptions, which is a really great way to support our local farmers and feed your family with enough meat for 3+ weeks!
