Shazam! Shazam dates all the way back to 1939 when he first appeared in Whiz Comics number two and throughout the 50s he would be more popular than Superman. After some legal issues, DC Comics would obtain the rights tot eh character in 1972 and since that time he's been apart of the DC universe, sporadically.
