Morning good afternoon. Good evening. You listening to the all talk car podcast live drive edition hosted by Peter and us Do you want to meet tonight in the driver's seat is mr Alil moustafa I'm back. You're back.
We've all been off for a couple of weeks. He's stay and Zach day We've got heaps of shit to talk about people after me where I've been You guys still doing the show one person Alex Well, I fast or yeah, you guys doing it anymore. Yeah, yeah, we've got a BMW a X2 e drive 22 We know 20 whatever Thursday. There's less specs on a PC at home normal No, but I want you to do something.
I usually start that started unlike the Tesla We're getting everything's alive. You have to hit the start stop you ready So BMW have got hands zimmer, you know the composer that does all the stereos When you turn it on it makes clunks. Yeah, so now okay, so it's got the big double little toggle That's reverse and down his drive That's camera So that's stupid. Well, I'm not being start stopping it, but where's part would you do?
Well, that's reverse But if you're stopping now, so you want to put it in park you start stop Well, that's silly because you're turning the car off. Well, yeah in a way you sort of are everything still lit up But you have to press it again without yeah, you fall in the break But if you were in traffic, it's the red piece and when did you put it in parking traffic emergency emergency what you might have dropped something Turn the fucking car off Okay, they just press the P. No, it's a handbrake. Yeah, but it's like any paper.
Okay, there you go All right, so this is a I used to either I have 20 it's gonna do shit now that you got freak out over anyway To a 30 kilowatt engine batteries whatever they reckon the fuck is this what we don't fuck manual seats Yeah, okay, well, it's gonna get through the packages. Oh, yeah, manual seats. No, I don't know what buttons Okay, so I was leaning into the stats He was discovering everything now because he has he's literally had one minute experience up at this car for a couple days Not to hundred and about five point six seconds. No, that's based on what they taught me not based on what I've been doing It's a tough bit about 180 Ks, which is not that important for us in Australia But it's suppose in Germany It's maybe not enough of the auto bar and they reckon a range of 449 Ks which I've had it for a couple days.
That's very optimistic You're probably looking at about high 300s and I haven't been really thrashing it but I have today Five year warranty and the batteries come with an eight year 160,000 k warranty This has got the M sport. I think that comes standard with the M sport spec, but there's an M sport pro now with BMW which is the bigger wheels Sports seats are six at comfy a Pretty good actually good make good seats. It's got the leather steering wheel Well, then you've got the professional pack which is standard it hit up display adaptive LED lights professional nav The kidney grill does it loads? You know, that's a big cave out anyway Look at the we're gonna guess what the hell is that high beam assist parking assistant, which I did it before I hit the gala I hate it no no went like a corrected itself and hit like nine was 90 degrees like you need the rims dumb Wireless storage is awesome.
It's got your phone sits upright and it charges It's got a little bar that pushes it in I wish the 911 turbo that because my phone was buried in the back of the bus shop When he thinks I read up and the most controversial thing that the professional pack has got is Comfort access the shit that we did earlier that is ridiculous So if you've got the key in your pocket so the comfort access means you walk to the car the car locks So you're just open the handle beautiful now the Tesla unlocks when you open the handle They'll text the key or the phone and then it unlocks But I had it the driveway and I walked from the road was midnight from the road to the to my front door So I walk past the car it woke up and unlocked and as I walked past away from it it locked So if you're standing in the car, it's gonna lock in a lock and wake itself up. So it's a bit I don't know that the Tesla doesn't power but That's it. I mean company says should be walk up to your car and unlock it not walk up to the car and it's unlocked Yeah, and then it's got an optional oh M Sport pros optional for three thousand seven hundred bucks It's got bigger wheels shut our line adaptive suspension re-spoiler and that's got the enhanced repack for an extra four thousand three hundred bucks Electric seats is what you're winging about harm and card and stereo heated seats heated steering wall Would you pay an extra four thousand three hundred for that four buttons on your seat? I could leave without it The electric seats should be standard on this car, but that's right.
It's a 90 two thousand car Yeah, it's like 90 two like it's so if you pick those two boxes it becomes imagine a hundred grand at 92 thousand dollars It should be standard. It should be standard have electric seats standard So that's how the packages come only what I say. No, not all our customers electric seats. I want electric car Manatees built in Germany not sure enough.
It's built well like there's no rattles like I was pretty impressed with the Tesla But the way this is built the steering. It's it's a nice car. The seats are great It's got the standard BMW dash It's a big car in the back is a good headroom. It's got that's bit of a slip to it The original X2's have was more like a squashed roof compared to the X1 was like a wagon where they've all grown a size Yeah, it's who becomes an extreme in size.
It's more a coupe. Yeah, it's shaped now rather than a squashed roof Then they've got rid of those double BMW badges out the back But it's got the dash and BMW you can tinker with it, but you've got those Outside readouts. Yeah, you can't get a traditional round clock. I Come back to the You know, that was in homage to the original M1 that had those so they put it on an X2 which had that fucking yeah anyway And the M1 was built on the led by the Gini so there you go.
What do you think? So how's driving it? It's it's not a bone jarring suspension You know when they try make it But you're not Exorbing well I think the back way It's sort of it's a bit rolling poly but not It's not a test of performance, but it's pretty good. I'm quite impressed with it.
I didn't show you the other battery So that thing it's a boost for 10 seconds All right, I'll pull it and feel it and look it's got a countdown clock And they didn't give you electric seats So the electric seats that they already It gives you a person it's got a timer on the screen it goes for 10 seconds down But you do feel the power like it's a nail that I'm with at the 30s part of the boost back or not But I've had a bit of fun with it, but you know, you probably bought this car pretty quickly But if you're looking for an electric car, it's not bad. It's better on the Chinese ones. I don't like to take much knowledge the The consensus seems to be that as much as they're pumping these electric cars out now All the means for manufacturers. Yeah, is I think the the long term their long-term plans are changing probably already changed Yeah, and I think that most of them have seen the light and said So The hybrid theory and we've said this before many times Toyota has nailed because no matter what the resale is on hybrid Toyotas is phenomenal.
You don't have to wait to get rid of a car Well, they market at one stage They had the comparative hybrid was only for about two thousand dollars more and wrong stupid And then they're like a 90% hybrid take-up rate Yeah, and how to just drop the non-hybrid models to see others force you to hybrid and everyone fucking loves it Well, they love it because you've got the best of both worlds not plugging hybrid just battery system hybrid and When you try and force products onto people by getting rid of what they wanted and just saying this is your only option by legislation just what it doesn't work and There's You know what I think is gonna happen now and like, you know, I've got the Tesla now I think the Europeans are saying let the Chinese do batteries. They're gonna do a lot cheaper than us They don't care. They've got the economy and the government backing to sell them at a loss We're not gonna we're not gonna kill our hundred year old industry by selling That's right cars that we can't compete with at a loss and if you want a battery car We've got some for you, but it's not gonna be our mainstream models Because what's gonna happen is that the battery technology and the Chinese approving this battery technology is gonna get better and better and no doubt You will get one thousand twelve hundred So what happens to the 300 kilometer range ones they end up being the equivalent of driving my HSP around as a daily? It's gonna be remember your first digital phone.
Yes The thing is you can't recycle these buckets It's very expensive You look at a normal You can recycle pretty much all metal yeah still Yeah, well these batteries got chemicals. They've got a really pull them apart and it's not gonna be cheap So the cycle You notice on the blinkers with Bw they've got that sort of fade out fading. Yeah, we think that's It's better than the Audi sort of flashing the right the directional linker The other thing I noticed if you want to push buttons in this car like it's got the redoneist and the maxa They're the quick fire buttons and you got your hazards down the bottom here You just got to go through this. I mean the idea I drive now.
It's got this fucking menu. It's more apps than iPad this menu So if you hit the home I don't know if you hit that look at this now, so if I hit all It's in alphabetical order and you're scrolling that we're gonna drive and find that's like this fire across and about 8 6 10 How the fuck do you find something like that voice activation for it? I don't know I'm only used like it's the car plays LinkedIn. That's my series of So having done the traffic offenders program.
That's When did you do it out last year I did it and one of the lawyers doing one of the subjects recognising you guys what you do with your You know, you said you're gonna do it. I said no I mean it I turned up at that I turned up to do it in person because I thought I don't do this online back Then I was there like if I do this online, I'm never gonna get around to it and I got a call So I thought I'll go do it. It's good in K-2 and you will learn something and hopefully break it So I turned up and it was out down because that I had a Like an hour or so. Yeah, I said a morning and I'm walking through there and Like we have it.
I see a couple people I know they go you're here really I Breakfast I'm here for drink I'm not Can sell like a train like I've got a podcast or some music on you don't hear it like it's like a I mean there's a market there we can download Tunes for your car. We're gonna run out you could change the exhaust that it have the was it the Clio had the Renault had that even They've even had the Nissan GDR noise that different engine noises to that You know you could download your own engine It's not sold as a performance but do it with a boost I took it charging at a 20 kilowatt charge out now the Tesla only ran at 10 and this runs at 20 So this was double the speed of a slow charger. I haven't really thought I'd do this cables in the back But they're still wrapped in oh, this is okay. This is now.
It's a bit creepy So, you know that boost pedal. Yeah, okay. It's only a one-time steering wheel. That's right.
That's fine What would you want another boost on the other side? Well, it's not a plus up. It's not up down Because the missus have the other paddles for the region You know driving a nice like having an amputee steering wheel. It's one It's what you put your hand there.
It's a problem is yeah So the boost button is like a left down paddle shift. Yeah, but there's no right No, there should be there should be two of them and you can press a go on again like the electric seat You already have the fucking pedals on the other car That's the noise of Alexis I Little quirks of a hey you could tell this is a left-hand drive car down here. There's a button Because it So And you have to do These days people buy car especially Especially families So you got comfort access You know, I think this car is gonna buy this that forty five year old It's a pretty stylish looking Small car I'm just saying I'm not being sex or anything, but if your wife had this would you be jumping in it? I Would have thought this thing's like a seventy-k car if you were a private school Would you buy your daughter one of those?
No, no way. Okay. No way. They'd be better in a one-series group or something like that I think to see what I think that some of the European guys Should really be taking a level of long hard look at What they're giving their customers compared to the Chinese If you're buying electric car combustion engines is that different sort, right?
But if you're gonna be selling electric cars then you're getting hammered on Non-state but basically stuff that's not an option But that's always been a European car thing The thing is is that they can't be selling that many of these that they've made in many of these No, so then it's a there's no point selling all right. I think They've been built for Europe. There's a lot of cities in Europe. We can't there's a lot of cities in Europe You can't drive It's I think it's designed for Europe European laws drive around the city but the Chinese are heading Europe You're gonna you're not cross shopping this with a Chinese electric car I think that they made a good effort.
I think I mean we drive Yeah, but we say that with a lot of electric cars It's and then and then let's not mention race up. I still give it a thumbs up I'll give it a thumbs up because I actually like BMW's done well with the dash especially seats are very comfortable It is through the GLA we had the EQ a we had don't you think this is a lot better than that? Yeah, but that was too easy Generation like The EQ was basically a GLA That was the current one, haven't you? Yeah, but this is a new car.
Yeah, so this is always coming. Yeah, so yeah, you're saying to you later car Yeah, I give a thumbs up. I if you bought this you wouldn't be unhappy and if you bought this yourself Yeah, I know but at the same time it's a good packaged car But yeah, I like it and I think the price hurts it but namely a cheap BMW you walk in your dealership. Nothing's cheap It's not a it's an X2.
Can we spend something? Yeah I'll do on this They would do it do it on this unlike the cities where you got a sticker box and I had to give Yeah, it's like they'd have to because this is not a it's an X2 X2 I think 60 65k couple options. I mean the 70s. Yeah, you know, but I don't think it's not worth the memory seats should be options Yeah, it's all well I think that the money's going to the development of it rather than adding the extras Well, that's what I said be 120 doesn't look at things like those seats It's pretty much a standard like it's available in that car And you've a lot of electric seats in with shit that people don't really want anyway, you've changed since you moved to Bondi Electric seats are first thing you're fucking noticed Right us reviewers.
Thank you for listening. We've got a normal show coming up. We've got about pathist. We've also got another live drive coming up I've got myself a 540 D coming Then we'll see what they're really doing at the good end of the market and the genius are yes Has had some tweaks and we got to do a live drive.
We have not done a live drive. We're gonna go back on Racing, we're gonna go back to roll racing with the helmet. We're gonna go back to roll racing and we've got twice as much horsepower as we did last time Thank you for listening rate us reviewers and bye for now
