2290 - Hot September Call-up performances

from Fantasy Baseball from Prospect361.com | MLB Fantasy & Prospect Advice · host Rich Wilson

Take 10 with Tim – September 13, 9:15 am ET1.Bowden Francis has taken two no-hitters into the ninth this season. The first was against the Angels on 8/24 and then again on Wednesday. WOW…he’s been pretty good this season. What do you think long-term? He’s a number _______ starter.2.Aaron Judge is laying an egg for fantasy managers in September. He hasn’t hit a home run since August 26 and is hitting .196. He also laid an egg in April. Weird. This streakiness is tough to deal with, no matter what format you play in. Thoughts on him for next season. 3.Let’s take a look at the standings.4.Don’t look now, but Cedric Mullins has 17 home runs and 27 stolen bases. He’s only hitting .236, but the production is there. He was the 35th outfielder off the board in the spring. Does that improve, worsen, or stay about the same for next season?5.I believe Keider Montero was a no when we did two-start pitchers. Of course, he pitched a shutout and earned the win in his first game. Was this a lucky game, or is he better than we think?6.We will discuss Kumar Rocker’s outing. 7.Justin Verlander has been brutal since returning from the IL, posting a 9.68 ERA. The arsenal is not what it used to be. His fastball is averaging 93.5 MPH, and his secondary pitches are still good, but nothing looks elite anymore (20-ish whiff rate). a.Is he a sit now? b.Should he be avoided next season?8.Let’s look at the September call-ups. What do you think?1)Andres Chaparro (Was, 1B) – 101 PA, .250/.317/.489 with four home runs2)Jose Tena (Was, 3B) – 105 PA, .310/.343/.410 with two home runs and three stolen bases.
