畫說漢字/圖解《說文解字》/1000個漢字的故事/東漢許慎报（bào）“报”是个会意字，本义是审判罪犯。甲骨文的“报”，字形左边是古代所使用的刑具，中间是个跪在地上的人，右上方有一只大“手”，合在一起的意思就是用手按着这个戴着刑具的人，表示正在押解罪犯。金文的字形和甲骨文大体相同。“报”字还引申为“传达”“告知”等义，如“报告”。人们常说“滴水之恩，当涌泉相报”，这里的“报”是报答之义。（抓住犯人将其押解归案，从古至今都是振奋人心的报道。）
