Bula, Ma’lelei, Talofa and Welcome to Season 06 Episode 52 of Breakfast Bites by TeivovoSports.com – a wrap of Pasifika people’s sports news on a bright and sunny Wednesday morning 23 August 2023.Coming to you with tons of hanisi from the 180th meridian in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. In Rugby: “I’d just like to put everybody’s mind at rest that I haven’t joined the Wallabies for the Rugby World Cup, I’m here for about three or four days at the request of Eddie, a good mate of mine, just to give him some feedback on what he’s doing. Rugby is bigger than all of us, so I’m happy to do that,” Sir Steve Hansen on Kiwi radio station Newstalk ZB.This after New Zealand Prime Minister Chris Hipkins joked that Hansen should have his citizenship cancelled. In rugby league: With just two regular season rounds to go and the ladder jam-packed, the race for the NRL finals is heating up.The Panthers and Broncos are in contention for the minor premiership, while several teams are fighting for a spot in the Top 8.What a turnaround it would be if the Broncos can go from imploding at the back end of last season, to finishing 2023 as minor premiers? Their worst case scenario being a third-place finish. In basketball: The FIBA World Cup is almost here and as expected, Team USA is stacked with the most NBA stars including: Paolo Banchero (Orlando Magic), Mikal Bridges (Brooklyn Nets), Jalen Brunson (New York Knicks), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), Tyrese Haliburton (Indiana Pacers), Josh Hart (New York Knicks), Brandon Ingram (New Orleans Pelicans), Jaren Jackson Jr. (Memphis Grizzlies), Cameron Johnson (Brooklyn Nets), Walker Kessler (Utah Jazz), Bobby Portis (Milwaukee Bucks) and Austin Reaves (Los Angeles Lakers).Australia has 9 NBA players, Canada 7 and Germany 4.In SportsBiz: After the killer blow by the State of Victoria government axing the Commonwealth Games, Alberta, Canada, previously thought to be a logical choice also recently rejected hosting the 2030 event - raising plenty of questions as to the long-term viability and purpose of this competition. In combat Sports: As expected, the press conference to promote the Misfits Boxing event headlined by Tommy Fury and KSI went absolutely off the rails. The straw that broke the camel’s back came when Logan Paul asked John Fury why his other son - WBC Heavyweight World Champion, Tyson Fury, was ducking a fight with Oleksandr Usyk.Old man Fury went ballistic, destroying the stage and nearly causing a riot. Tommy Fury later blamed it all on his old man drinking too much red wine!In the final of the Chess World Cup tournament in Baku, Azerbaijan: Eighteen year old Indian prodigy, R Praggnanandhaa drew game one after 35 moves with world number one and five-times title winner, Magnus Carlsen. And finally in Football: Luis Rubiales, the President of the Spanish Football Federation has apologised publicly for kissing star player Jenni Hermoso on the lips after Spain won the FIFA World Cup.Rubiales, 45, plonked a big fat sloppy on her lips after she collected her medal, provoking an immediate global reaction.I must admit it was a smacker! And the fact that he had her head clasped in both his hands in a vice-like grip didn’t help! For TeivovoSports.com I’m Culden Kamea – please hit the like and subscribe buttons below if you want to receive more Pasifika sports highlights on Breakfast Bites.Mahalo, Kakite and tank you all too mas for all your love and support.#TEIVOVORugby #TEIVOVODigital #TeivovoRugby #TeivovoDigital #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #Raka #team #rugbytraining #sports #FRU #Fiji #womensrugby #rugbygirls #wrugby #ladiesrugby #womeninsport #woman #rugby #rugby7s #FijiRugby #rugbyunion #rugbyleague #fitness #weightlifting #training #team #rugbytraining #sports #rakavi #DevelopmentFiji
