23.19: Matthew 12: Jesus - The Hope for all the World!

from Seeking the Gospel Truth · host Giselle Aguiar

The Jewish laws of not working on the Sabbath —  the day of rest — had gotten out of control. The Jewish leaders of  religious law piled more “do nots” on top of the original commandment  from God. Jesus here shows how wrong this is. Jews today don’t drive  cars on the Sabbath — that’s working. That’s why you see them walking to  temple or synagogue on Saturdays. They won’t press elevators buttons. I  remember in one apartment building, in New York, on Saturdays, the  elevator stopped on every single floor so any Jews riding would not have  to press a button. Just to be clear, here’s what the commandment said…  “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. 9 You have six days each week for your ordinary work, 10 but  the seventh day is a Sabbath day of rest dedicated to the Lord your  God. On that day no one in your household may do any work. This includes  you, your sons and daughters, your male and female servants, your  livestock, and any foreigners living among you. 11 For in six  days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and everything in  them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord blessed the  Sabbath day and set it apart as holy. Exodus 20:8 NLT What God means here is that we are to work for 6 days a week and rest  for one day. That is not work for money. Don’t harvest for money. In  this chapter, Jesus tells the Pharisees that He is the Lord of the  Sabbath. Let’s dig in…. Keep reading in my blog where there are links to dig deeper and watch the special music videos at the bottom…. Jesus said, “Anyone with ears to hear must listen to the Spirit and understand what he is saying to the churches.” ~ ‭‭Revelation‬ ‭3:22‬ ‭NLT‬‬ - This phrase is repeated 14 times in scripture. Kind of gives the idea that God wants us to pay attention.  If you want to reap all the benefits of salvation including the 1-way, non-stop ticket to Heaven then… Believe. Repent. Be Baptized. Receive the Holy Spirit.  Pray this prayer humbly and wholeheartedly… “Dear Lord Jesus, I know I am a sinner. I believe You died for my sins. Please forgive me. Right now, I turn from my sins and open the door of my heart and my life to you. I confess You as my personal Lord and Savior. I surrender my whole life to you and I will follow you for the rest of my life. Thank You, Jesus, for saving me. In Jesus' name, Amen.” Jesus is coming back soon! Are you ready?
