Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, you're listening to all-talk car podcasts, power valvictorian specials, we've got a new guest with us this afternoon now, Tony Medargo is in charge of the owner of Ivy, a unique company in inspecting vehicles but they inspect vehicles for a different reason, Tony, welcome to the podcast. Thank you, thanks for having me, I've looked at Ivy, there's not many, I don't believe there's any business that are actually providing the service that Ivy provides, it's an independent vehicle inspection services that looks at structural integrity of many vehicles, we say not roadworthy, we say the crashworthiness of the vehicle. Right, so far as to bring my vehicle to your premises, what stage would I be at? Is it a brand vehicle or was it after an accident?
But normally after an accident, normally people know their vehicles and they know how to handle the drive, they're involved in a commission, they pick up their vehicle, doesn't feel the same, it feels a little bit different, maybe sometimes it's mental and they're happy because they're fighting for the car. And I think what's wrong with this car? You're driving better before? Yeah, driving better before they go there insurance company, insurance company says money, why would they go back to the panel there, of course the panel there is going to say, it's all fine.
So don't in your head, they're still not happy, they're second shot, they're not getting anywhere, insurance company under repair, they're not listening to their complaints, they hear a guy ask, they say ask and we're engaged to look at the vehicle, so if it's got an insurance policy behind it, we normally take a small fee off the customer. Right, so basically probably up the ask, I'll bring it in to you, that's sweet, it's the suspension's not right, we do put on the horse, we can visually look at the vehicle without it, and it's a free inspection. Sure, and we say look, this has got problems, so now if you want to take it further, this is the process. Right, can we sign you up?
We take $350 off you, we do the report, we provide it, so it goes to court, so it's all properly, friends that we've done. Nine times out of 10 when that report's shown to their insurer or repair that vehicle is gone. Yeah, they're quite high. That's interesting isn't it?
They might not take my matters to court anymore. Yeah, so you'll provide a comprehensive, especially if you do realise there's a problem, you're getting a dig deeper to provide a comprehensive report and then it's up to the consumer to go back to the repair and insure and say, hey guys, there's something wrong, there's a problem here. So if we have to get deeply involved and we start pulling the vehicle apart, that vehicle has no value at all, so we measure it, it'll tell us the structures out, if we need to dig further and do further forensic report, the customer's going to get through it. We might insure us a company to say, it's not a problem, it's no secret, you're not, no, that's a look in those things.
And what are the things that are common in what's common is that chassis rails are designed with crumbles aren't? Yeah, so when they have it, they're designed to absorb one impact. First crumbles aren't as repair as unfortunately rather than replacing the road because it costs it too high. But you can replace the rail?
Absolutely, it costs to be high, so they're heated up, you can imagine a co-canned, it's got your table so you've been at once, the integrity is not on and you've been the second time it's next. Yeah, so there's three crumbles aren't and they're to absorb the impact so that the occupant doesn't receive the falling impact. These crumbles aren't, should not be heated or there, but they are, that's unfortunate. Big pillars which is the center pillar of the car, they're cut and rejoined, they become sphere, so you get a set of impact.
So my whole thing about either is it wants the vehicles compromised, the body shall be integrity, the foundation's gone, unless you repair properly, cost of building a properly is very expensive, repairs need work in their workshops stay alive, they're cutting corners. But as a consumer, I have a car, I have an accident and I take it, I'm paying, right in short, top dollar for insurance, I'm paying an exit and I'm giving it to one of their preferred repairs, as an industry should not be saying, hey guys, this is supposed to be done back to the specification, and then if they are repairing that, that, Shazirail, are they putting a genuine line in or are they putting, they're actually repairing the original Shazirail, then when it comes to parts, headlights, indicators, panels, they'll put some on genuine one, which is a lot cheaper than the LE, the OEM manufacturers are not happy, they haven't been able to stop it, because now they're the insurers are controlling the insurance, the repair process, where the parts are coming from, they're on the panel shops now, they're repairing 70% of the vehicles now, so the independent repair is slowly disappearing. As a consumer, can I go back and say, hey guys, that's not a genuine headline, that's not a genuine indicator, five years down the track after the cars been repaired? You can, but how many of them, how many consumers are running around?
No, no, no, no. How many accidents have happened where the vehicle didn't sustain the second collision, they got no idea, so what they do is, yeah, you've got a lot of warranty, not much good off your life, end of the day, was it? No. What about if I buy second aid car?
Second aid car, so bring that down to you, bring it to us, we'll do a pre-coaches inspection, but every year the vehicles on the road changes are 10% of that's out of here, so if the vehicle is three years old, there's a 30% chance of saving at least one accident, so we'll give you a pre-purchase inspection. Now, in the past when people have used my name and my company, don't buy that if you take that to this bloke, that's what I'm going to do. I'm not the alternative, is it? I'm flying the car, I'm flying the car.
We're getting that, I'm going to have a seat in Brisbane. Where are my tiny, large and large and large? I'm going to drive it over. Look, what's sad is that people are using my name or brain and ensure it's a shut nut to climb, I don't see the car.
I don't see the car. It's like a sheepish, re-wooled, picks the cars, the whole of it. We're only going to see the cars, yeah. We're going to do what we're doing now, we're all seeing cars, we've got our own database of only two of you and we have a Geeks, we have an electronic device, it's called the Contact Design by Carveg.
It's a global accreditation, we'll go home. And that machine goes under the host. We lift the three disciplines on the vehicle, that machine, the vehicle, the concrete, the host become one now. It doesn't matter if it's concrete, so that kelp writes and it all becomes one.
It's like a gold detector, we'll go from one point to the other point. So we do all the measurements, and it compares that data to the OE data when the vehicle is built. And it'll start streaming all the idea, and we calculate it. Overall, these vehicles are 33 mil out of toggles.
Yeah, death track, get it off the road. So, 3 mil at the back of the vehicle, the time we get to the front of the vehicle is about 40 mil, because of 12 to 7 vehicles track. Yep, that's the ground again. Unfortunately, they're repaired on the floor.
They're chained down. So, I'm pulling 4, 5 ton pressure from the chassis. I'll just put the rear end out. I'll chain the down.
We're on jigs, it's bolted. So, when you're pulling for a ton, the only bit that'll move will be the center of the toggle. It'll be bolted to the next jig. Cost again, to expensive, the jigs are 100 grand.
That'll show up. When you spend the money, because they're not paying pay. They're still on $23 an hour. Now, I was on that one of those on the prints.
It's about 40 years ago. We're going to get to that. We're going to get to that. So, you're a bit of a trader.
So, you know what to look for? You said it all. I can tell you. So, if cars change that much, if cars continue to evolve, it's all about safety now.
They've got the airbags and more crumbles on it. The vehicles today saw more on the safety factor than the speed in the old days, you know, the colour in the speed. Tonight's about safety. The car.
The integrity of the car. Crumbles on it. When you look at an enmangled, they've actually absorbed, well, any fact, years ago, I always took tow trucks. We've got an accident, so the vehicle's got not much wrong with it.
But the passenger in the driver's debt, the snip in neck. Yeah. Bench seats, the older cars, the steering column, would go through their chest. It's not going to collapse.
I remember a relative of ours, like, pick out the old days. They're in a van, they're in it. The bonnet literally stood up. The bonnet went through.
Yeah. It was crumbles on it back in those days. So, the other Volvo started. You think Volvo?
Volvo, I was saying one of the safest cars, you know, back in the semi-lady. Volvo started. The bloody lights on during the day. Every car's got it.
Nothing. Nothing. It's all driven in those goods. The more than the old Volvo's, they've got a shock absorber.
In the bumper? Yeah. It's all 20, 30k in the front. It's going to buy some old 2-4 deal.
It's going to buy some old 2-4 deal. It's going to sell it as well. The US market, with a lot of European cars, had different spec bumpers. Look at the murray.
They also had the permanent indicator on the side. Look at the other side. That was basic days. That's instead of crumbles.
I was all the different banks. I know we've got here, but we talked about the car earlier this morning. That's a big problem. It is.
It's a serious problem. The other big problem is the windscreens. The bigger problem is that Pilkinton's makes the genuine OE, and it makes the aftermarket. The same company makes it.
Oh, they make it? Yes. The aftermarket ones got on their cars. They're not tested in the crash test.
No. With the dummy in it. It's cheap. It doesn't matter what screen it is.
It's about $109. From a Mercedes-Benz. What would Pilkinton gain? What do we have?
Well, because all the left other class, they may be affected on the same road. So if you need a windscreen from a BMW, I'd take it to the dealership. You'd want the dealership to order an OE screen. Not the repair to manage it, because the repair will use O'Brien's and all the other aftermarket supplies.
Looks the same. It fits. It's all glued in. But if that car rolls, the integrity of it's not painted.
If it doesn't hold the roof, it'll rip. It's a better one. We have one of our sales. We've got the windscreen from the Strangers and Master.
And I think we've had three of them changed since they just keep cracking. Well, they're not manufactured the same. They're not manufactured the same. They're not built the same.
But how do you check that? Well, you wouldn't know. We've moved there. That's what we got there.
Right here. That's what we got there. Right here. That's what we got the same.
You have the market. So it's two and a half litres less water than half. It changes the cooling system. So you apply your head gasket.
Yeah. It's what you're doing. You go into the mechanic. He says pressure test is all good about the head got off.
Six months later. Another hit. The fact that it's not buying any more common rules. No, you don't have to change the cooling system.
Because it's an aftermath of a radiator. Heck you beat one, it's less water circulating. See, you can pin some of the air on the car. If you head lights on your way to sprung on January.
They're dangerous at night. They're good for possum catching because of the reflectors moving there. Hit-hit-wise. It's your go out the bed.
Do you walk the other street and you don't have to go out the background. You walk down the street, you know, you just go. You don't go Christmas shopping. No, no, no, no.
They're car masks and look at it. It looks perfect. It's a noise. If you want to have to turn your cinema phone over, okay?
It's dirty, it's a day go. Four bells out. It's gone. So Ray, you know, his car's going to get scraper.
But it's cost. Insurance companies use these aftermarket parts of the car. Yeah, the guys come around receding airbags. I'll be back.
Receding airbag. It should go to the dealer. Corporate. So he'll come in and you know, so you airbag a lot.
And then, you know, in Texas, you're going to put the airbags back in. Just reset the computer. Airbags. There's no airbag in there.
That lawyer died on the Whistler Bridgeport of Cab, in Tom Ray and Airport. Heavy traffic, so there can't be took the one way around. Had to hit on the Whistler. They're back in populars, crescangers.
They checked that there was no airbags. The driver doesn't know. He's just some like, he's driving. He's just a red-tigger car.
But the cab company that repaired it. You know, I put a four-year-old in. A four-year-old. A four-year-old.
A four-year-old. They put a... They're probably a bull. They're probably a bull.
They're probably a bull. We're Uber now. We catch Uber, right? We know those cars aren't just there.
They're privately owned cars. They should have their vehicles checked to ensure that they're travelling with public transport vehicles. Correct. That the safety of that vehicle in integrity is...
Because the cost of the vehicle by the Uber driver is a cost of his business or her business. So they buy a second-hand or edge-room off-ditch to get it checked. And if it doesn't cost it, it's a carry that's turning off. There's a car that's turning off.
There's plenty out there. Just one-on-one. There's quite a bit involved. They're the amount of bulk they put on the cars.
I mean, that's not safety, but that's diminishing the value of the vehicle. Because all the filo cracks in the colour. It's all later on. Yeah.
That's all you spoke. Oh, plenty of them. We had a paint marker on the panel. It was a thickness of paint.
If it's had a bad repair, it doesn't really at all. If we put a run of drill through it, we lose a drill bit. You're not exactly where we're at. That's a bit of a look.
That's a bog. And then you open the shut to the door, it's all twisted and they've bent the hinges and belted out the rubber so the wind noise doesn't. We saw an old body's out. The panel bit is a bit very good at customising.
Because many surgeons. Bend the top frame. Bend that frame so it doesn't leak as you're driving. But then things actually out.
It's out. That's for a washer. That's for a washer. Isn't it a term?
If you look on both sides of the panel, it's on an old negligence. The right hand side's got a feet washer and the left hand side's got a feet. I'm the technician. Yes.
That doesn't fit. And someone's going to drive this car. And I'm going to use the places on the wishbone arm to get a wheel on. But the chassis actually have by eight mil.
So I'll drop four more spaces and bring the cast. And I'm going to wheel on. I think I should go to Jeff. Yeah, he should.
That's criminal negligence. Someone's in there with their family. I remember changing them. Which is up.
Well, I had a wheel on. I had a wheel on. They did get it to see nose. No.
Look at that. They looked at the tires and brakes. But manufacturers, they can actually, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I got manufacturers when they sell you a car, even a brand new car. If there's a panel, there's panel damage or they can repair up to three pounds.
Is that right? Before they can, and they can still claim as a new car. They say that a structurally damaged vehicle has got more than three structural points damaged. It should be classified as a statutory write off, never to be re-registered.
If it's got less than three structural points, it'll be written off as a repairable write off, which goes back on the road, you have to get a VRV, which is done by mechanics. They have no idea about structural water. They look at it, it looks good. It starts at 40 bucks.
It's like a blues the place. So I'm on the big road structural engineers test. I looked at what they were doing. I called the meeting with about 60 of these people doing test.
And my officer guys, he's the wrong guy on the job. Look at your door. They're the way they present. Took him in their duty of care.
I'm on the side of the gun. A week later they all refused to do the real test. So they put something down again. And I said, what about safety?
They said, nothing to do with us. Why not? What about revenue? If you want to talk about safety, I've got to tell you.
I said, I want to talk to you. Wow. This is the whole thing that the regulators want to pass everything on to a third party until there's a problem. And then they'll jump out in the media and say, we're going to crack down on this.
We're going to do this. What we're going to do is we're going to put more regulations on someone else again. So we're going to have a new body and they're going to oversee it. It's the same thing.
You're just painting it a different. Hello. To Tony, how do you say it's changing? We will change what we're doing now.
We'll probably have about 77, so straight away. Our commercials are ready to go. We'll put these guys there for a reason. We'll have a new guy.
I'll be fine in the next one. I'll be fine in the next one. So commercial, you'll be nationwide. You'll be nationwide.
So in New South Wales, I'll be up at the way of the government. Yeah. It's going to have 70 odd centers. Beautiful.
We've got the commercials ready to go. I can show you the commercials. So what does it cost someone if they want to inspect them? It really cost them nothing.
Because if it's not going to fail, I'm not going to charge you any. Don't worry about it. Don't worry about it. You can make your own that.
You're going to have to roll it. You can make your own that. You can make your own that. You can make your own that.
You can make your own that. You can make your own that. You can make your own that. You can make your own that.
If I'm not happy with the repair, I always said my normal. Have your voice. And I don't know my cars. Yes, as soon as I...
a lot of us are. We'll go on. I don't understand what people will do. They'll pick up the...
When they could pay a hundred bucks or even two hundred bucks. Yeah. To move the responsibility. What point can you take the car back?
Now they have a life warranty. They're vehicles named. They keep them for the life of the car. They say it's for a life warranty.
Does this extend to the vehicles and trucks as well? If you have a bike having going on with CEMI trailer, then look, every one of those you've needed, He did, there's no other way to repair it. There were chassis while they were there. So they got so much heat on that rail to pull it.
Yeah, just what? So they compromised me. How many heavy accidents did they send? Normally they're phodils anyway.
Yeah, they're done. They're done. Yeah. They're hitting buckabuzz and that's an heavy issue.
So veins, motor vehicles will do all that. There's no problem. We've got data to kind of create a real game. So if someone had their car repaired, this is like picking up a brand new car.
And you can't take it. Do you get your car and stop it? The signature that you sign has no bearings if it goes legal. Because what else are you going to do?
You've got to sign a skippily. You picked it up. I don't know if it's any good. This part told me to sign.
You just called me to fix it. You called me to fix it on the road. Then I went to the other road. And someone who did tell me to put a desk on it.
What's going on here? What's your client? On your policy? Wow.
On the warranty. Every business has never worn again. Because the other thing is with new car that has warranties and accidents, if it's repaired, that component's got no warranty anymore. Because there are manufacturers that are like, hey, you had to repair a gas machine.
It's covered under the insurance warranty, not the manufacturer. The manufacturer solves it. The only warranty that can get back to me is if something goes on the category or blows it. Well, not with that company.
Is there a register? Sorry? Is there a register? The only register is if you go to Vic Rose and you log in a bin number, if that vehicle was involved in a collision and repaired again, it would come up.
So then I'm going to pay less, it's worthless because I know it's out of here. I'll take the risk. Or you can ask just as a repairable ride off. Then you can dig down and find out who repaired it, what parts they use and all that.
But a big deal go back. Or you go back to the guy that actually sold it. But do they have to give you the information? No.
But tell you a buffer shot. That's not on the... It's a repairable ride off. The structure on the head.
Yeah. Not the bumper. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Let me tell you, there's a lot of bumper that's got a structure that means a lot of bumper that's got a new bar. Or work out because with insurance companies, if you don't use it, you might want to use a specific repair. Yeah.
They might be sure it's taken away. But I'll say to you, look, yeah, you can use your repair. We'll get a risk to make it. Yeah.
That's all I got. And here it is. Everything is going to go for two-grant. Well, your repair one, and piece on it.
Yeah, I won't touch it. But if you did do that. Yeah. I'm not sure.
I'm not sure. You're going to have a buffer. The insurance company goes on the back. Yeah.
Excuse me. Yeah. I'm going to use black mite. So it's only for you.
It's fine. I'll have to do it properly. So they're squeezing the pedal. Absolutely.
And it's squeezing on purpose. Yeah. You know what? A lot of people take the check.
Then they go shopping. And then they spend that two-grant. They compromise their own. They're own.
They're sold. They're cheaper. Yeah. That's fine.
I've used the people I know. I know. I've used the people I know. I know that I'm not going to have a problem with.
Yeah. And that won't be in hits. But so we don't have damage. I've said to them, hey, it's all yours.
It's all yours. So I don't have to do with this. You know, it has to be written off of how damage. We actually got our spokes and showed that, because they pushed the dents out.
That's right. They cracked the surface of the high foot of the paint. And then within months I'd be like chicken box. Because of the humidity on the leaf.
So everybody was a held in. You see a rust spot. They were above the fires. So basically what you're saying is that it's a write-up.
It's been a little hound in Sydney and I'm not sure about the tourist stuff. Yeah. Yeah. It's a back-up with repairs.
Yeah. Stretching the passion of the panels replaced. But if you're going to do it, they're right. Yeah.
Yeah, that's right. They're right. They're right. Especially on the roof and all the pillars.
One stretch, one stretch, one stretch, one stretch. They get it. Or eight-beam-seep, another one. Oh, no.
Well, if you've got bad dents pushed out. It's like, like, you said, with metal with a coke. Yeah, you can't throw a golf ball. That can't start.
Yeah, it's not going to go for that. The paint's not going to go for that. The paint's not going to go for anything. All the material is cracked.
It looks all right. So, you know, if it costs maybe a hit, you'll need to touch it up. But if they've got structural damage, most of them will be not from hit. With delays coming, you're being the game for four decades, you've seen.
It was a better back then. There's a better now. Would you prefer a car that you throw away? I think that the cars have better now for us for safety.
For safety, they're much better. If you did them, whatever. They're the same a lot of lives. Yeah.
But I believe that they're more compromised. There's more vehicles in short now than they want to take those away. There's less cars in short now. They want to save that two-wheat-a-half.
Cars are a bit better now. But we've got auto-breaking now. Is there less collisions now do you think? I think the collisions are very close.
Similar collisions. I think the way that every vehicle now has a built-around safety. Years ago, you hadn't had a Mercedes-Benz, we had all the features. Every manufacturer has a lift-in going.
Which is really good. Which is great to get sales. And it's affordable. We don't have to have names.
We don't have to have safety. I can have a Honda. I've got kids that have not the ready for cars yet. But in the next five years, you're the same thing.
As the kids are getting older, you want them to be in the same car. Just because you don't have to be in 40 cars. I've got one message for parents. Don't let your child's first car be their last car.
Because most parents will invest a lot of money in kids' university. Then when they get their license, they'll buy them a share of that. That's really how to drive. That's your next car, probably three or four people's.
So you should be looking for a good second-hand car. Get a test of all the features. Put your kids in the same car. And unfortunately, that's what they do.
You see the young kids driving around in these little two thousand. I've got friends about $1,000. The kids are all getting their bills and pizza stuff. Right?
And get something that's like a high-end or something for the same-hand. I've got to say what you want. You want to use it? Yeah, you want to use it.
What are you driving? E-63. Beautiful. That's a car.
That's what he's talking about. It's a straight-a-thump. It's a straight-a-thump. One people at the back of the insurer didn't know how to deal with it.
Everybody was trying to get a measuring up. They took months to deliver a picture. Is that even the people who came home? Yeah.
I'm not driving a little kid. I did list guys on watch. What do you reckon the same as the other one? It's Mercedes and V.
Yeah. It's the ball, the alley's there. There was a story here. The other day, one of the journalists had a go at Porsche that their mechanic, the other one was the mechanic, the other one was the engineer.
The Porsche mechanic, the base mechanic. The guy was breaking. It doesn't mean he had a whole lot of people. My multi-means were all over it.
And they said, they're all over it. And they said, Porsche's response was like, it was beyond even arrogant. It was like, well, it is an option. And people came to choose to have it if they want.
But we don't think we should force it to pop it. The other one was the electric cars. I reckon that's going to change the list. There's a car, 53 out there out there.
That's my little baby down there. That's yours. Yeah. How about we add that?
Oh, wow. 53 out there. That's interesting because who used to belong to? He used to be Marilyn Monroe's guy.
Oh, wow. That's me, Bob Jane, in the film review with the insurance company. What's she tough to do with your border offer? I'm not sure.
I wasn't around, man. I've got some media down there. I'm going to go in the company and get in the grid. So you're like, I'll cut your own.
You drop it? Yeah. My daughter's waiting. I did a few waiting.
Nice. So what else are you going to say? What do you think? I've got a few there.
That's my daily drive. Yeah, think about the sake of car. You get back to the polished car. It's great.
It's a 57 price lock for the 440. It's too long to be. What are those? They're 6 meters long.
Yeah. That's not a good one. No, it's not a good one. I have to forget about it.
I have to forget about it. I have to forget about it. Is that a 10 drive? Yeah.
It's all the 10. That was a 2.0. Do you have the state slot? No, I haven't been for a while.
No, I was there in 2004, 2008. I haven't been back. But I forgot a few cars. You were here.
This idic business. Insurance companies have done everything to stop it from blocking it. It's causing me nothing to shoot. But why did they try it?
Because it costs a good fortune. They should have no more fixed things as cheap as possible. They're not going to come back. They're in for a buck.
They buoy the workshops. They want stuff pushed to only the shops. It's not all that compliance and ethics and all that. These guys should be responsible.
They do shoot. We're looking at selling crash packs now from the dealer's office once the car's brand new. For $300 and it protects the vehicle for the life of the car. Regardless of who owns it.
What does that crash pack to? Well, that gives you a free test if you're in an accident. It's in your glove box. No matter who you insure is.
You go there, you fuck you. It's a lot of sneakers that protect the migraine. Insurance companies seem more secret than my pizza. I love checkers.
I like the fucking checkers. I like the fucking checkers. Some of these are stickers. What's up when you come?
That's it. But like I said before, we're paying the premiums. We're paying for the cars. Why should we be our vehicle integrity pack?
VIP. Mercedes being the already-turnedist. I need the service. That's the one I can serve as a vehicle.
When you come to City, give us a call. I'm going to see you guys on the chat. Get it done. Get it done.
Come back. I'm a real estate agent. Now the lawyer says I have everything. Are you going to do all the agreements, mate?
We can't make you some cookies. You have to go to a restaurant too if you want to do it. And he's in football? He's doing a football franchise at the moment.
