230 - Magnetic Nanoparticles: The Future of Hearing Loss Treatment? Exploring the Latest Research with Dr. Daniel Sun

This week we are joined by Dr. Daniel Sun, Director of the Division of Neurotology and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, to discuss his pioneering research in hearing loss treatment. Addressing the challenges of delivering large molecule medications to the inner ear, Dr. Sun introduces a novel approach using magnetic nanoparticles. These particles, guided by magnetic fields, could provide a more effective way to deliver treatments directly into the cochlea, offering new possibilities for managing sensorineural hearing loss. Dr. Sun also explores the role of advanced MRI techniques in understanding how the brain adapts to hearing loss. This research aims to develop predictive tools to better assess which patients might benefit from cochlear implants, even after long periods of deafness.
