Thank you so much for your support. Hello, welcome to Know Applause, it's just a clap. The only show that says Wi-Fi because bi. Oh, God, that's a terrible small.
Yeah, it's got awful. I saw a shirt that said that while I was on the ear wolf shirt store. They have a lot of shirts that are, it's nothing but shirts of inside jokes, which can be really fun but I don't listen to a lot of stuff on ear wolf or its sister company, Earpop, which is Paul Shearer. And yeah, I just don't listen to a lot.
Outside of the, how did this get made shirts, which I'll show you the What's Up? Show from last, or from last week. I just want the shirt where it's them doing the junior co-ins, junior movie co-ins. And now they've changed their cover when it's them in the movie theater with like June 9 Raphael enjoying it and Paul Shearer's like, what is happening?
And I think Mizzoukis is like head and hands type of thing. It's good that I really liked them with the junior movie co-star. That was a long time ago though. That was their starting art.
Well I think I was pre-ging that in Raphael and Paul Shearer having kids. Very much so. I think they were already married at that point. Because I think they have two now.
Yes. That was always nice to play catch up with that. How did this get made? How did that baby get made?
Portion of the show? Well I can make an assumption on how the baby got made. You could assume but then again you have Matt Myra and his wife something Dory doing a Matt and Dory's excellent adventure with them doing- Yeah, so sit right up. Yeah, them going through- Me going through what not.
Mm-hmm. Which I think is really cool that they're doing that and people have reacted to it in the way that they have that the audience was. I've been going through this too. Or I didn't know this about IVF.
Well you know a lot of people have struggles with fertility. My brother and his wife are waiting to get another baby. They've been waiting for about a year and a half. I've got to feel like it's going to happen soon.
Yeah? Good. Not for any reason I just have a good feeling. That's a rare thing for you since I've seen this.
I think my meds have leveled out pretty well. Dammit, you keep yelling at me for painful late. I don't- Yeah. Okay fine.
I admonish politely. Well you keep quietly explaining to me. I do. I do not look at you while we're recording.
I appreciate that you look at the person you're talking to. I wish my eyes were up here. Stop singing my crunch. But things they don't know you don't do that until I just say it.
That just makes me think of the 30 Rock Joe. Hey, my boobs are down here. That had to do Jenna. No, it was- Tracey Morgan.
No, the cat- Hey Zola. Oh, Christian Shawl. Yeah. I'm going to say yeah.
Hey, thanks for down here. Yeah, her name was Hazel. Yeah. You shouldn't have to hooking up in that.
Oh yeah, a lot. Okay. That makes all the sense. Yeah.
So real quick, I think I was thinking of something about stuff getting picked up for 30 seasons. I know that good place got picked up. Legion's coming back. There's something starting next month.
Agents of SHIELD. Yeah, I'll watch it. I'll watch it to find out. I mean I know that's a big grab as how they get onto a spaceship.
The two most interesting characters in that show were always called in and wore it. No, I found the Will They Won't They with Fits and Simmons. That is true. Yeah, that was- And their whole struggle with Fits' whole thing with trying to be manly was really funny but very poignant.
Yeah, I mean I always forget about Fits and Simmons sometimes but they were pretty compelling as well. Absolutely. But I mean I don't care about Daisy. And Simmons got the shine in the Agents of Hydra arc.
No, I just don't care about Daisy. I just don't want to care. Yeah, her whole- Yeah, I- Let's- We'll just jump right into it. I just don't care.
I just don't care. I just don't care. I just don't care. I mean like I said Colston and Ward were always the more interesting characters to me.
And Ward just because he was so fucking twisted. We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get- We'll get deeper into it later. But are you glad that they've got- They've done something different with Black Siren so that Katie Cassidy can still have a job? I'm sure she's got offers.
I'm not saying that. She's a very pretty girl. Yeah she is. Still cannot believe we didn't know she was David Cassidy's daughter.
Yeah, unfortunately David Cassidy, I guess. I mean it's one of those I kind of went, okay. Yeah, that was kind of like thought on it. I mean, I'm sad that he's dead.
But- The original Mirror Master. Yeah, like I said, I was going to say I am glad they did something different with Black Siren so Katie Cassidy can have work. But you know what I mean? Like, so for- Then to bring back- Fuck the fuck is Ward's character's name, Brett Dalton.
You know, is that's- I mean they could feasibly bring him back somehow, someway. I mean it's Marvel knowing stays fucking dead. Well, there's no one Lazarus Pitt, but still. Well there's no Lazarus Pitt Marvel anyway.
You just re-laced your time like these so you didn't know? I did. Yeah, I got to have the- I was gonna say I really wish that people could see my face when I had that realization. It was Rainbow Pinwheel.
I think I was very weird for a second there. Yeah, Thanksgiving I was trying- I wasn't actively trying to ice out a family member. I was very passively doing it where I was just like answering open any questions with yes and no. And had my back turned to them the entire time?
I guess that's actively for ice and no. But you know what I mean? I was trying to be as polite as I thought I needed to be. And at one point they were- I know they did on purpose or they might have been on drugs.
For both? Yeah. But they confused Thor with Justice League. I almost took the bait.
I was like, different companies. And then just like, that was all I said. But in my head I was like nerd screaming. I was like, fuckers.
It's the bit that um- The Saints got it. The Saints got the idea. I was gonna say get their obsession wrong. Yeah.
Hard to back. As they're standing out lying for Star Wars. Star Wars, I think that's where it works. I was gonna say the whole one about him being like, as I drive away with X-Files, I was gonna say with Season 3 of the X-Files and my Buffy comics at the time.
And the thing was the guys were trying to yell at him that like a mattress was under his card. They were trying to help him. Oh yeah, we totally thought the jocks were making fun of him. Yeah.
His mattress was stuck under his- I mean, we're not in high school anymore. It's my best brainful saying impression, sorry. I'm trying to remember what comedian- Oh, it's totally Pat Nauswald when he's talking about the jocks in Florida getting trolled by the gay dudes. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah, the gay guys can't call the- Yeah, the- Yeah, I think it's the jockey construction workers or something like that. Yeah. Who are you going to set up your place?
Yeah, how's that going to work out in your personal life? Oh no, that was- he's not from Florida. Okay. He's not Floridian.
No, there are some other red flags for this personality though. Not just his name, which we're not gonna say, but- No, he lives in Boulder. Okay. He's a big fan of fish.
Oh, yeah. I know. I know. However, we already have the conversation where I'm like, you know what, do whatever you want to fucking do, just don't try and make me like it, okay?
Yeah, I gotta do it. You don't have to like all the same things. I did however introduce into Elliot Smith that one who liked it, so I'm working on it. This is the only- This is the only- Smith that I ever read.
Um- Given to the Elliot Smith. So I, uh, yeah, I've signed a family member, my mom, and she goes- She's talking about how, uh, Eagles and Jimi Buffett are coming, which is probably the worst concert I could possibly think of. I don't know how I'm sure we did the worst. Like, string cheese instead of the Grateful Dead.
Yeah, I mean, you're putting in just for like, not jam-bained. Okay. Not for like, that level of poor-fulness. Um, but I mean- Are you a speed-ragging in Kansas?
I would see the fuck out of that shit. I would absolutely see that. Uh, to hear Carrie and my way where it's unlived would be a bucket list moment for me. Oh, I can think of that as, you know, because that's a lover voice song.
That was always sucked. Yeah, that's- everybody's working for the weekend. Second look at you, my voice carries. Um, it's a foreigner episode, and I can't remember what line he's trying to use.
Because everybody's working for the weekend. It's not lover voice. Yeah, it's their one hand. Really?
Yeah. Huh. It's when everybody was wearing the antennas for some reason. Yeah, I mean, the guy from the Texas Midnight Runners.
Kevin Nolan? I don't know, but now I'm just thinking of that. No, he's a trainee. No, I'm just thinking about the video for Journey when it has, you know, the women in the sparks factory.
Was that a Journey song? Yes, it was, um, yeah. You're not going to say separate ways, because that's wrong. No.
That's all they're walking on, they're like, wharf. I think it's love doesn't always come on time. There was a spark on the line. Yeah.
I don't remember that many Journey videos. Yeah, that weren't really popular at the time, or they need videos as much. Yeah. So, also, I don't have particularly attractive men.
I love Steve Perry, but he's not easy on the line. Same as fucking, uh, Mercury. Right? Yeah.
I'm Steve and Tyler. If anybody can rock a musket? Tom York. Tom York's a hideous chud.
Well, Tom, where was called career was based on him silking over a girl breaking up with him. And seeing nonsense fucking lyrics about it, like, buzzing like a fridge and the policeman's car has got a watermelon or whatever the fuck okay computer was about. This is a very English thing to do. It's the same thing like, um, Coldplay or, uh, I was going to say the, uh, Gallagher brothers.
Oh, I see. There we go. They've got a few songs. If you, if you do not pronounce supernova, all right, there's no fucking R's.
Well, it's not a vanilla either, but I mean, that's, you know. Like I said, it's very, I like when they say that though. Vanilla? Yeah, or like supernova.
Giant supernova. Oh, God, they used to piss me off so fucking much. You know, it's his eyebrow singing, right? And yes, I know that was singular.
Um, that's what Bert would look like if he was a natural human. The, not, not the drinking one. The other one. Yes.
The one that's actually got the talent. Liam? Yeah, I think so. Yeah, no, the one that's like all about the rock star lifestyle, right?
Well, they're both there for a while, but yeah, Liam, total Bert. They totally can't stand each other still. Well, luckily for us, no basis. Um, but you dig deep on there.
Like there's like at least one or two songs of album that are like very deep right in the middle of the end where I'm like, I like that song. Like there are a few that are pop for me. Well, that's interesting because that actually, I was having a conversation with Tony, which should have over a few castes some points soon. I was having a conversation with Tony about how lotion by the greenskey versus a really good fucking song, but the rest of the album is not right?
I know the rest of the song is not right. It's not great. But it's one of those things, it's the old adage. Even if we're in Clocks right twice a day.
So it's just buried in there. There's one song that's gonna pop. Well, I was just talking to Katie about that. She ended up after I gave her her mix on the US blog, burned it on a CD and then loaded it onto a USB drive for her.
She could put it on her computer. And she gave me back the USB drive with a bunch of music, which I thought, I mean, kind of modern mix tape. It wasn't at any order, which was kind of cool. And I think she said I told her I'd listen on random anyway, which actually doesn't make sense because I probably still still know what I was working on a fear agent's illustration, which doesn't matter what order the song's going.
It's on random! There you go. Put the song on its own. Nice.
More English people. Um, so I've already forgot my point. She gave me back the USB drive with music on it that wasn't at any order. Yeah, but what we were talking about before.
Some of the pop, like they're kind of surrounded by a bunch of random shit. Oh, yes. No, no, that's an easy to pick up my time. I don't.
So I was telling her that, you know, playing my T's. I like Hade to Life. I don't like anything else they've done. There are two like, punk, whatever you want to call them, pop rock, um, for my taste.
But there's that one song where it hit at the exact moment in my life or it just struck me in a mood that I had. And there, I mean, every band I think I'll wonder two of those songs in their repertoire unless they're like terrible. Yeah, I know. So, um, but let's go back to Marvel.
Guys, I'm speaking of not caring about any of the characters and weirdly late emotional resonance. Um, I finally, it's been probably been over for about a month now. Um, finally finished in humans. Oh, God, I can't believe you beat yourself separate through that.
I, uh, yeah, it's rough. Once again, they have genuine, poignant, emotional moments at the very end. If you fuckers would have had this at the beginning, you might have had at least a bit more of a chance in terms of connecting with the audience and having characters that care about. And they bring back Triton who got shot and supposedly killed.
And, like, I was like, well, he's not dead because I give him a name. I know he's a major in human in the comics. Um, although I love that they do bring up the moon again at the end where, you know, Black Bolt's like, I'm a good king and his brother who's staged the coup for the entire show is like, yeah, you have a water-based guy on the moon where there is no water. Like, you can't care about the people that much.
Um, which reminded me about Maximus, did I do have a next one about that? But, um, so they bring him back and I'm like, well, yeah, I saw that coming because no stakes, no consequences. Um, the only guy that dies and stays dead is like a doctor who's helping the bad guy. And you're like, okay, so no, the bad guy doesn't have a way to do his bad thing.
So that doctor has to stay dead. But like, everyone else they bring back, or Triton was part of a secret plan to fake his death, whatever. Like, it is fucking ridiculous. And then...
Type-total type-by-teranits. Then cut to the master of dancing around to sisters or sisters. That was awesome. That's a bit shady people, but like, yeah.
Yeah, I mean, it just, I, uh, everyone, Shat on Medusa's hair, which was fine, it wasn't the greatest effect. But they shave her head like, within the first episode, and she looks good with short hair. And that lady, I don't know the name of the actress, uh, looks like Medusa. Like, I was kinda like, the more I watched it, I was like, yeah, yeah, and the guy plays Black Bolt who was on, um, hell on wheels.
Um, whatever his name is. Uh, great job. Developed his own sign language as Black Bolt. Didn't want to use ASL.
Didn't make any sense if they're on the moon. How would he know ASL? Pretty much, yeah. Um, and thought of his own language.
Did it a lot of work. It just sucked. Except, for Maximus, who is played by, I'm gonna fuck his name up, because it is horribly, I believe, Welsh. Um, oppressibly Welsh.
Almost. Uh, probably pronounced even Rome. I, W, A, N, and then... No, if that's from around them, A.M.
It's pronounced how? A.M. A.M. I think so.
Anyway, I know him from, he played sign on the Misfits. Most people know him as like, I've got his face eaten by a dog on Game of Thrones. He was the other bastard in the War of the Bastards of John Snow. Oh yeah, okay.
You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, he fed people with dogs or something. He was like the Russian from Dark Knight, right? Dark Knight.
Yeah, sure. I don't know who didn't watch it. No, not who was weak. But he was dog boy.
Yes, I know who he was a good one. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that's how people, but he, he really fucking owned it. Except, I mean, his accent was a little muddled, but I think it worked.
He was on the moon. How the fuck am I supposed to know how he sounds? Um, he did the best job. I mean, and he committed, he was, I think his head, he was like, I'm gonna try to polish his turd as best I can.
And he did phenomenal. I'm glad they didn't rely on Lockjaw as a gimmick. It was the giant teleporting CGI dog who looked great. They didn't rely on him as a gimmick, which I was very happy with, probably because it was very expensive.
But they're, they opened it, and I had fun with that, but since I saw it, the opening sequence, a title sequence, is very, um, Legends of Tomorrow, where it's like the symbols of all the people in it, and there's like, Karnax, and his power looks, they made his power look really fucking cool. He sees a flaw in everything, and the way they do it is like how he can, like, he does a situation that kind of pauses it and replays it to get the right angles so he never fails. Like, it was a really cool way of shooting it. A bullet time with like, overlaid, like, uh, Matt's equation and stuff, like he's actually figuring it all out before he ever does anything.
It was really neat. Um, and the way they kind of talked about how he's a very insular character because, like, he was talking to a woman who was like, Florida, and he's like, yeah, we're gonna have fun for the first couple weeks, but then, like, this is like, you're gonna do this and that's gonna annoy me and then we're gonna break up and you're gonna be, like, you literally sees a flaw in everything so he can never truly be happy. Um, but anyway, so... But he's truly happy, he'll get his soul back and then...
And his heart will grow three times bigger. He's gonna say that he'll be tortured and turned into evil antilis again. People, Karnax. And I'm, by the way, I have not gone back to it, I'm sure I will with the child, but with the Grinch stole Christmas, the Grinch didn't hate Christmas.
He hated people. I can get behind that. I'm just saying. He just wanted him to shut the fuck up.
I'm with him. No, he just wanted a companion ship. I don't. I just want people to shut the fuck up.
And a dog named Max, that'd be fine with me. So anyway, so... How's your birthday, Deb? I was fine.
Don't just yell about how the Grinch stole Christmas. It's effectively, I want to be in my biography. So anyway, so they do the thing with like, Karnax tattoos and I would have black bolt symbol and whatever, and Crystal's like, the little band on her hair. Which I guess is her hair in the show.
In the comics, I was thought of some kind of decorative thing. It looks like a band that goes on the sides of her head and then there's like a circle in the back. Okay. So, but in the show, they kind of colored her hair in that symbol, like that's her hair.
Which I get, I mean works. I mean with Lockjaw, he doesn't have like a little antenna. It's like coloring on his head. It's like a little, some kind of hair piece or something.
Crystal? Like the stuff in here, it says every year something. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, so they show the symbols and it's like, in humans.
And then there's like a little cartoon mock-job that like teleports it away and I was like, fuckin' cheesy as fuck. Well, I think they wanted you to know what you were getting. Cheesy as fuck. You know, I watched these on the completist.
I'm glad it's over. I'm glad I'm glad to watch it. Like I said, there are redeeming qualities to it. They put in a lot of work.
There was some good acting. There were solid moments just at the end. Sorry, I haven't heard but sorry. Oh, there we go.
The thing is that you don't get to like do things like you used to where you can kind of settle into a show over two seasons. You have to get it right pretty fast. Well, and especially when you've got the brand of Marvel. Which really, this is their, this, in my opinion, we talked about this a while ago with Iron Fist, but really, it evens at Iron Fist.
And even if it's a bigger misstep than Iron Fist. And with- I'm talking about Iron Fist, I just get a little angry. But like I said, I feel that they were deemed to some extent Iron Fist with the defenders. Inhumans isn't gonna have that chance.
Well, see, the thing is what you liked about what they did to redeem Iron Fist with the defenders is they refused to let it take himself seriously. Yeah, which I think was a problem with Iron Fist is that you're trying to- I'm not saying it should be a laugh riot, but like there are people that straight-faced went yep, went to a mystic place that only appears every 15 years. Punched a dragon in the heart. Like they took that on up, like they took it on so quickly that you're just like, no, you would be like, what the fuck are you talking about?
That's also the fact that they did start out kind of with a place for humor where they have him listening to Outcast on his little iPod. On his- on the old iPod. And so he's like, I'm Danny Rand, I'm Danny Rand, which was funny at first. Got really annoying motherfucker.
But it's one of those things where they started in a place where they could have done a lot of things that were humorous and still keep the seriousness of the tone. When he runs into Hogarth the first time, he's like, J Money, like that was fucking awesome. Well again, great Danny Rand, bad iron fist, Inniman's just bad. Just fucking awful.
But I mean, just the whole thing with him and I was going to say, what's the actress's name? Who? Who's that? Yeah, yeah.
I was going to say, what can you say? J Money, and you get even another little sign of her too. Yeah. Like I said, they had a lot of really good stuff, and I mean the whole thing with the M&M's when he's in the mental hospital.
Yeah. Like I said, they had a lot of good stuff there. It just never fully-kemshielded. Well, yeah.
Maybe next season, the one we didn't ask for. Well, I think they're going to cook. I think once they got to the defenders and figured out how to make them work, I think they can make them work. But really, only he and Daredevil are going to be changed by the defenders.
But I mean, it was really just one of those things that the first door was almost like, all right, let's get through this so we can get to the next thing. Yeah, actually I watched The Honest Trailer for Thor Dark World last night, and I was like- I liked Thor Dark World. I mean, I was no Winter Soldier, but still. But I was like, yeah, it was really pretty.
There's almost no real substance of this. There are a few really good moments and a few really good things about it. The design on the ships where they looked like they were kind of shipped out of Obsidian, the Blackstone. Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the L ships. There's the scene where he goes into Jane's apartment and hangs up the hammer on the background. And there's them talking to the scientist.
Anytime it's felt like it's on, I mean. Like I said, I love that they didn't just happen and be like, you know what, this happened. I'm the same. No, they completely changed him because he was taken over by Loki with Loki-Poki stick.
Yes. I had something on that and I lost it. Oh yeah, The Winter Soldier goes. And wait, why is this guy Trishoot red-cooled at the Skyholes?
Like, that is the plot, isn't it? Homeboys trying to shoot that coolade at the Skyholes. And then everyone explains the convergence, like the same way over and over and over again. Like if you watch The Underscish trailer makes total fun.
It's like, yeah. I know that's the point is they do that to every movie that looks stupid. Okay, my favorite is The Honest Trailer of Showgirls. It cracks me up so far.
Have not seen it. We'll watch it over to my corner. Well, they do a thing at the end where they give extra points every time she looks something. She looks a lot of things in that movie.
In... Showgirls. No, but you're talking about The Honest Trailer, you're talking about Simisins. Oh, you're right.
The Honest Trailer of Showgirls is the point. Because they did the one with Twilight where they kind of lay into certain scenes. They also have the random sounds of the ass. That's The Bonus Random where it's Chris and Storybook.
Yeah, doing the weird random sounds. For like, and it's like a minute and a half long. But yeah, I love Simisinsins. I think my favorite thing that Simisins is every gun is they were doing the Simisins for Pitch Perfect.
And they have this one shirt that is right down her top. And he's like, I don't know why, but I like this scene. 100 extra points. Oh, for liking her shirt.
Yeah, I think it's kind of a camp, but yeah, I know for liking her cleavage and her shirt. Like I said, I don't know why I like this scene, but I do. 100 extra points. I love when they do that.
So let's get into a season that did not suck totally. Stranger Things 2. B plus. B plus.
Are you looking forward to three? Yes. I will explain why. Please remind me.
Because I know I'm going to describe season three in one sentence. Because everyone goes, you know where it's going to go. And I was like, no, you don't. Wait, yes, you do.
And I know where it's going to go. So you find out very quickly, and I talked about this very early on before I finished the season. That had been a couple episodes in. It had you grabbed me the way the first season did.
I had to buckle it up too. It did. And it hit the beats that news it hit. The very beginning was showing.
The first one was so unique and original. Fernando Gardens is based on Marvel Comics property. But you know what I mean? It was so different from all of the times.
Everything else. Even, you know, yeah. The second one you're like, oh, it's good, but it's not as good. I don't know why.
It's because it's effectively the same thing. Like you're not seeing Rocket for the first time. You're not seeing Rocket for the first time. You're not seeing Rocket for the first time.
You're not seeing, well, yeah, I guess you're seeing. But you're like, oh, it's Yondu. It's Rocket. Like a lot of this is a lot.
It's really nice to have the arc with Yondu though. We're not getting into Guardians 2. We're not getting into Guardians 2. Something I like about James Bond movies that I think is one of the reasons that people tend to like him is that he doesn't do throwaway characters.
When you have a character, especially one that has put in at least a little bit of emotional growth, you've seen him again later on. It's not like you've interacted with this person one time and then they never see him again. You know that with his brother's character, who was a Ravinger? Ravinger?
Ravinger? Ravinger? Ravinger? But like I said, he doesn't have disposable characters.
He put Taserface in there to be disposable. I think he said he just was so fascinated by a character named that he had to put him in there. We're not getting into the Guardians. Sorry, back to Stranger Things 2.
I think a lot of people were like, I like it. It's seeing the underside down again. It's L or 11 figuring out more about her and the experiments and such. As opposed to having 80 staple, Nancy Modine, who does pop up in it.
You have 80 staple Paul Reiser. Really chewing the scenery. Loved Paul Reiser in it. He hasn't really done anything since Matt about you.
No, he doesn't really. But he does have a line that's very similar to his line in, is it Alien or Aliens? Which one is he in? I think it's Alien.
He's like, don't worry. Trust me. And you can't trust him. He has a line that's very similar, which is obvious to not his character and aliens.
They've said that. It was on purpose. So we misdirect you on whether you can trust him or not. The first episode is really just show you where everyone is.
11 is with Hopper, who's the sheriff. Safe on the cabin hiding. Sorry. While you're telling me this, I'm just picturing that guy dressed up as the live live live live in for Halloween.
Sitting across from Hellboy? It was just the big black guy dressed as 11 carrying waffles. That's exactly what I pictured doing all of these things in my head. Great.
It's not Bobby. I was going to say. Milly Bobby Brown. I was going to say it's not Milly Bobby Brown, but I just pictured the big old black guy dressed up like her.
Go with it. Will is seeing, having visions of the upside down. The other kids are just being fucking kids. Justin steals the kid with the disease of the fake teeth.
You know what I'm talking about? What? The kid with the lisp? Oh, yeah.
The kid with the dusseum. He steals the show. Just a his like his cursing. It's not like what's the actor's name?
It's Finn Wolfhard who plays. He's in the new it. And then he's also in Stranger Things. And apparently from his time on it he was dropping F1's and then like please stop.
That just makes me think of the scene in Christmas story. I don't know. When you refer to his dad as being the Picasso of swearing. I can see what he's saying there, but I don't know if I'd agree with that.
I mean really like he was a Cubist. So you'd say things like that pisses that shit out of me. Like you have to diagram it out and break it down to deconstruct it for it to make sense. Much like the gazos art.
I didn't think of the right person. Yeah. I didn't say it. I didn't say it.
I'm brilliant. Yeah. That's what I was like. You're thinking of the costume.
Okay. So that's not a compliment. At all. So anyway, I liked it.
You saw you meet as you have 11. You met eight. It was like an illusion caster. And they were tracking down.
She's got like a whole punk crew that there's a whole bunch of grant more since invisible references around. They're a little punk hidey hole. They're like squat, you know, squatting warehouse. There's references to Tom O'Bedlam, Barbolith, and King Mob, who are major characters in grant more since comic The Invisible, which if you haven't read, please do.
I will eventually read the entirety of it and I'll just want it to. That's fine. I just want to get a comment on this. Pick up the shoes.
Yeah. Well, I'm going to hunt down the, I'm going to try to track down the thought edition. So I've got like four of them as opposed to ten. I'll tell you as a side note about comics, my copy of Dark Knight by Paul Deeney is getting passed around pretty frequently.
It has now been read by both of my doctors and my cousin. Nice. Listen to the podcast. It was almost hardly listening to him.
You talked about it in his process really well, but it's very difficult in the beginning to start reading it. But you know, it is, I think, about finding your way back to yourself. Season three in one sentence. I'm not there yet.
Okay, so the big bad in this is they end up calling it the Mind Flayer, which is another D&D character. Much like the Demi Gorgon in the first one. Oh, they have Demi Dogs. Not Diamond Dogs.
Which are Dustin finds a baby Demi Gorgon named Dart, who likes Drew Escottir. So he names it Dartanian. I know, like adorable. That's so cute.
Yeah. And it starts out cute until it grows and breaks free. It eats a cat. It eats his cat.
It's almost elf. And then, you know, and then there's a love interest. There's a love interest with a girl whose actress, like I can't think of the name, but she plays Max, who has a boyfriend, who has a brother who is in the show for what appears to be no reason. He acts as a foil to Steve.
He's like the new kid, like, so I think his name's Billy. Comes in and he's like, I'm gonna be the new king of the school and all the girls talk about his ass. That happens. Admittedly, when they show it, it's nice ass.
Like, you know, friend real well in jeans. I gotta give him that. But she's a little mustache and like a mullet. Like, he was like the California bad boy.
Yeah, it's ridiculous. So he was kind of the foil to Steve where it's like, oh, there's a new king of the hill type thing. Which does not work. And then he keeps warning Max away from Lucas, who's the black kid.
And you can never, I honestly couldn't tell if he was being protective of her with, like, I don't want, like, don't date anyone in this small dinky town. Or if he was racist? Yep. Like, I was like, I'm pretty sure it was racism and no one said anything and maybe it'll play on season 3.
But it seemed like he was in racist. The only reason he was there other than to punch Steve in the face repeatedly, which does happen, was to hit on one of the kids' moms. What? No, it's so fucking funny.
Because she's like in a bubble bath reading a Harley Quinn romance novel with a glass of wine and the doorbell rings and she's like, Bob, can you get it or whatever the dance name is? And he's like asleep in his chair in front of the TV watching the wheel or something. Wheel's on. And obviously, like, just not having it.
And then he's at the door and she's like, oh, a sooter, but vapos. And then flirting was really funny. Part of it takes a seductive bite of a like, no way for something. That wasn't the script.
He just did that. Like thinking that's what the character would do and it totally works. But he's basically in the show for no reason. Has no point other than to basically harass his sister and be possibly racist.
Um, season 3, I'm sorry, season. I'm lucky he may be, you know, Departan season 3 with the party line. I'm leaving now. For no reason.
God. I just wanted to die. Sean Austin was good at it. He had, he was annoying.
He was just as annoying as he was in the strain. But he went out like a hero. Just like he did in the strain. And he went out in a way where like you knew he was going to die.
Like, yeah, they said it all up. And there's no way he's going to get out. Like, there's no way he can get to the extraction point. And then he does.
And he sees his girlfriend on a writer and he's like, yeah, I made it. I was like, 3, 2, 1, bam, get to jump by a demigorgon dog thing. I'm just chewed to death. And I was just like, God damn it.
You gave him that hope. That was the worst part. He didn't die going out like here. You gave him that hope.
That like, he had made it. And part where he forgets the gun. That never gets paid off. Like, there's no point where the gun could have saved him.
Like, he was looking away from the dog when on a writer who obviously needs to end up with Hooper. He almost, well, he actually left his bag with the gun and the cab with his Indian cat girder. Right. What was his, what was it?
It looked like we were talking. That's why I'm so proud of you. I'm not allowed to watch it anymore for a while because it's distracting from all the other stuff I have to watch. So, I can try to play the movie in my head and hear it.
Well, it's not Sanjay. No. But it is something else extremely Indian. Is it Perdee?
No. No. No, it doesn't. It's Perdee but.
No, it doesn't. No, it's Bontu. Who is his? His rival?
As handsome as he is devious. As handsome as he is devious. As he is devious. That's the one that causes his like, ball and do.
No, it's just still. No, no. No, no. No, no.
No, no. No, no. No, no. No, no.
No, no. No, no. No, no. So, anyway, so season two ends with a very sweet moment where Paul raiser gives Hooper a birth certificate for eleven.
She finds her mom, she finds her real name. Her, what could be aunt or something. Is the person taking care of her mom? It's never quite clear who the person double was.
And the kid is here. Yeah. You know, makes a call and says, she's here and I don't know what to do. And she yells like, well I'm fucking out and then she ends up running into eight.
And I like that they're introducing the other subjects. So, but they're not, like, they're not like, you met eight and I give me the rest of them. It's like kind of one of season kind of gets the goal about. a lot.
So you don't have like the overkill of like, and you're meeting all the subjects. You only see 8 like in the lab as well. We have no idea what any of the other ones before 8 or 9 and 10 or anything past 11 we have no idea which I really like. So anyway, so it ends with a very sweet moment where the pulverizer gives you know, who for the birth certificate and who for says, how long do we have to hide?
And pulverizer is like a year and he was like, fuck. Okay, it's already been a year that she's been in hiding without this. And but he lets her go to the snowball, the snowball dance that Mike was a fan of all parts name, the best my character. Mike asked 11 out in the first season.
So we finally get to say like dance with her in the case. It's a really sweet moment and then Max kisses Lucas and Justin dances with what is the name of the sister, not Joyce. I can't think of the name of my sister's name on top of my head. But like Steve's now ex-girlfriend because they break up.
But like you know how she's like the queen of the school type of thing? Like she ends up dancing like the nerdiest kid and all the other girls are like, if he got what's her name? What? He does his hair like Steve.
He's like, he's a great bonding moment hunting dart. He does steal her shell like him. Cursing and just trying to like flirt is hilarious because it's like a love triangle between Dustin and Lucas and Max. So anyways, it all ends with their all at the dance.
And I think Billy's there because he's trying to find Max because she snuck out to be with Lucas right. And Hooper and Joyce are in the parking lot of things. And then I think it's nice for them to have a breath. You know what I mean?
Just catch a breath. And as they're taking that breath though, the camera starts spinning and starts slowly shifting to the Hawkins middle school in the upside down where the mind flayer and the hydrocreacher is like over it. Seemingly ready to not enter the school but like start an attack. So everyone's like, oh that's, you know, I said, I don't know what the third season's gonna be.
And then I thought of it. I said, you think about all their like little references. So we die hard. They're automatically trapped in that school, fighting off the upside down.
I hear the Hans Gruberfishes defy for. I'm not gonna tell me sushi. So you're gonna do die hard for Christmas. Was that just?
