231. Getting To Know Nick

from Gun Dog It Yourself · host Nick Adair

After years of doing this podcast, the number one request I receive from listeners is an episode about my backstory, how I got into the dog world, and my thoughts or opinions on varying topics. While I did a profile episode myself touching on some of this years ago, things change and it was time for an update. Long time listener and supporter of the show, Scott Kinnane, has probably been the most adamant about requesting this episode and when he offered to compile a wide ranging collection of questions I decided it would be fun to finally get out of my comfort zone and do it. Some of the questions are about my past while some are about my opinions on important matters such as conservation and mentorship. My opinions may not reflect some of the more common responses you typically hear in the space but they're at least honest and, as always, Im open for meaningful discussion on the subjects. The backstory getting into dogs Solo pursuits and self discipline versus team pursuits Dont take it so serious. "Its just a hobby!" The journey and bond with Nick's dogs Finding a mentor and being willing to help yourself first The interest in dogs led Nick to the uplands Rachel the GSP and learning on your first dog Lucy the SM and training a puppy Quinn the specialist Setter How'd the podcast get started?
