we built a rickety houseboat and headed down the river we were taking water on fast but then who isn’t there was a nativity in the back underneath the gas lantern there were no gifts nobody there but us loons we raised no flag upon this ship of fools we tossed and bailed out the river i cast a line and hooked something unseen under the chuclking water up to our knees the green paint peeled revealing rusty nails the lantern went out our savior was long gone we raised no flag upon this ship of fools epw 12.13.07 perrysburg, oh
