241: Meet Bobby Kerns and learn how he transformed the culture within his division.

from Blue Collar Leadership · host Mack Story

In this episode, Bobby Kerns shares his team's 4 year journey of cultural transformation. Their successes and their struggles. But, the most important thing he shares is this: They made it happen! And, they are still making it happen and drilling down farther into their division with plans of carrying leadership development all the way to the front lines. I met Bobby 3-4 years ago when I first spoke multiple times to various divisions within the Fairfax County, VA Public Works Department. Bobby is the Chief of Operations of the Maintenance and Stormwater Division. He had already read a few of my books and was beginning to lead his leadership team through book studies before I ever met him in person. During that first visit, I spoke to Bobby and his team for only about 30 minutes. My message motivated and inspired him and his team to continue what they had already started. Fast forward to June 2021, Bobby purchased 1,200 more books for his team and brought me and my wife Ria back on site to conduct a 3-Day Leadership Development workshop for him and approximately 20 of his top leaders. Wow! They had grown a lot over the years since we had first met them. Bobby had been leading the cultural transformation, and his team was definitely bought-in. They were intentionally growing together and it showed. They were all extremely fired up after the 3-Day workshop too. You can actually visit BlueCollarLeadership.com/SpeakerInfo to watch a 6 minute video testimonial of what many of them had to say at the end of the 3-Day event. Their testimony was powerful! It will inspire anyone who watches!
