from jENI NO PIKA PIKA NIHONGO 日本語

Hello. Welcome to Jenni's Pika Pika Japanese. Today's Japanese lesson is, "Shitemo Iidesuka?" . For example Tabetemo Iidesuka?" Please listen to the podcast to learn. The other day I introduced you to the Gion Festival in Kyoto, and today I would like to introduce you to the Tenjin Festival in Osaka. Osaka's "Tenjin Matsuri" is one of the three major summer festivals in Japan, along with Tokyo's Kanda Festival and Kyoto's Gion Festival, and is held at "Osaka Tenmangu Shrine" from late June auspicious day to July 25 every year. The history of this festival can be traced back to the "Hokonagashi Shinji" held in 951, the year after Osaka Tenmangu Shrine was founded. In the Hokonagashi Shinji, a sacred halberd is floated down from the beach in front of the shrine, and the place where the halberd washes ashore is designated as an o-tabisho, or "place of departure," to welcome the gods. During the current Tenjin Festival, many boats set sail and fireworks are displayed to celebrate the welcoming of the gods in a grand manner. Bienvenido a Jenni's Pika Pika Japanese.
