Welcome to Milk Maseras, just a clap. Well, we're back here at Barracuda's, and I don't have a clap at opening, because Doug and I could not get it together last week. Wings is planned. This is Wings, isn't it?
This is Wings. But yes, I'm sorry to get it together last week, it was my fault, because Doug had told me he wanted to record on Tuesday instead of Monday, and I forgot and showed up on Monday. Sorry, I apologize. Where are you?
Are you on your way? I believe I said in transit. I was not. I was following, but like I said, it's on me.
I'm sorry, listeners. It's all right. I do want to get into that a little bit. So last week was the, I guess, premier will call it.
I would have said it after all run. For all of the day, once a week, all you play is still aware on my... I was just trying to move it out because it's not making up down and how they can go. The way you think of...
So what is it? A scraping of silverware on China? Never mind. It was supposed to be a reference to a just result lyric.
I wish people could see the blank look on my face. Yeah, it was on mine too. So, yeah, so, last week was the premier of... Something you and I had talked about off air.
I talked about on air a little bit on damn, about launching nerd vomit, which is what happens when we can't get together. And I kind of do a damn equivalent of like a pop culture show. I don't get into my neuroses outside of a movie triggered it. It's not necessarily just you.
It's just one of us solo. Going a little bit this week in pop culture. But since I had to give up the original flap cave, I was gonna say it's a little bit harder for us to sometimes get together. Well, like I said, both on nerd vomit and on damn.
Like it was a matter of not only scheduling but weather. So it's kind of a sort of raw shitting. It actually surprised me again on... Was it Friday?
No, it was Thursday. On Thursday, the weather got real shitty, real fast. Yeah, it turned super quick. Because I was out playing my nerd game at the Brown Palace.
And then I was gonna say, you're also gonna stop to have lunch. And when we walked out of the restaurant, it was damn near white out conditions. It was pretty bad. Why'd you have to be white?
Which I'd be low visibility dead. You have a point there. I'll adjust my heat speech. Are you trying to make America great again?
They'll be more bad. Oh my God, I thought it was the greatest. So there's a guy at work. We'll get him to the list eventually.
So there's this guy at work who gets like a certain x amount of pumps white mocha. Oh, so he has a very specific order. Yeah, it's one of my associates at the day job. Well, the problem is the longer you replace the more specific you're order against.
Yeah, yeah. The new club gave absolutely. Clapakutas, I'm calling it Garak Clapas. It doesn't work.
You say Garak Clapas sounds like it sounds like a... Bellaclavva. And then I start thinking about ocarina, particularly inside my head. Why would you go from ski mass to ocarina?
Well, because what's the name of that thing that you're up the stick against? Not an ocarina ocarina. No, no, not an ocarina. No, no, not an ocarina is the flute thing.
From shaped. From legend, it's Zelda. But it's like I said, there's another one that's like... Exactly.
It sounds like Bellaclavva, but it's not Bellaclavva. I was just thinking of instruments of hilarious names. And so I went from whatever that one is, that sounds like Bellaclavva. It sounds like Bellaclavva.
No, it's called a jazz. I was gonna say it's called a jazz swizzle. Sure. Where were we on?
Oh, yeah. Sorry, it's just a white mocha. So this guy has a very specific white mocha. Crazy.
And so far not? No. It really sounds like a stripper. Yeah, welcome to the stage.
White mocha. And then TJ Miller. Oh, and then TJ Miller's like, or is like to call her irony. So when he started, when he started about the job after making this free form, I started like joking around with the whole Trump inaugural thing.
I mean, kept thinking of trying to think of like Trump as names, like the white power mocha, or the comb over, or whatever. You know what I would have called it? I would have called it Henry Rolling, something to man or key mocha. No, no.
I've got you. Damn it. I don't think I should call it the Edward Norton free prison rate, mocha. It's too long.
American history mocha is good. Second to what about mocha? X. No, that sounds like mountain X, which means it would be a dark mocha.
It's a dark mocha. Just not physically. What? It's emotionally dark.
But it sounds like mountain X, who was black, so it'd be a dark chocolate mocha. I can't believe we're having an argument about historical theory of mochas. Anyways, so you started making him a strike. Mocha and Mary could rain again.
That's really good. It's so good, right? Especially since it's a white mocha. Like lightning, bottle, lightning, rain.
I've had, what does it call it? Not epiphany, but a... Lightning has just struck my brain. I think I've had apostrophe.
Apostrophe, that's what he calls it. You mean an epiphany? It's a fear that we both just referenced a very specific Bob Hoskins moment in Hook. Yes, considering I am right there with Doug Benson, which with Hook is a terrible fucking movie.
Hook is a terrible fucking movie. It is terrible. Any idea how much that traumatized me as a kid when Rufiyo actually dies? No, he's supposed to die up here.
He's going to be an NDK, by the way. Oh, really? Yeah, we'll get it. Also, I just saw an ad, like a split second ad on Mutt for a movie called Hurricane Heist, which seems a little on the nose.
Yeah. Like, are there stealing things in Hurricane? Are they trying to steal a hurricane? I think they're trying to steal things during a hurricane.
Though I kind of like the latter because they would be like... Well, it's just maybe the feature on an episode where they're trying to harvest the weathers and Amy and Bender end up hooking up. A lot. Yeah.
Also, I would have gone with the Rafe finds Uma Thurman Avengers. Oh, right. It's only one of the longest to be. Oh, and you will pay for it.
Yeah. They're dressed as teddy bears. We're like literally no fucking. Yeah, the tanger is picnicking and everybody's dead.
Yeah. I like lead henchmen. Really? Yeah.
I think I'll back and watch that. Don't. Please don't. Well, I do like...
Does listen to how did this get me an episode about it? Fair enough. So my sister has been watching recent Frankie a lot. And she is obsessed with June Diane Raphael.
I mean, you used this as a springboard, something else, by the way. Yeah, like I said, no. Like, no, really fell up to that. It's just one of those things where I was in my room and I walked out and my sister was watching that on TV and I'm like, oh, it's June Diane Raphael.
And she's like, who? I'm like... Rafeel. Yeah, she actually does the merging of the bells.
No, it's fine. She's gonna say she's married to a comedian and actor that I'm really fond of. She's super funny in her own right. I really like her.
Yeah. And my sister's like, I'm obsessed with her character. I want to be her when I grow up. I'm like, well, she ain't lady, so good on you.
Yeah, but she's not about the character you're talking about, June. But the character's pretty awesome too. Okay. So we'll use this as a segue.
Because what movie, Deb, had all three hosts of how did this get made? June Diane Raphael, Paul Shearer, Jason Monzukis. And we've recently quoted in text back to each other. Oh, crap.
Now I wanna check my phone. Don't. Unfortunately, I can think of Jason Monzukis in right now is a stretch. No, it's not a real one.
And I know that's not a bunch of stuff. No, but that's the only one that's coming to mind for me right now. I know he's in a bunch that's just the only one I've seen mentally. The disaster artist, which I just watched, has rigged out of my love of the room.
Your relationship? Your relationship just said to me, quote, a hot damn. Oh, hi, Mark. Oh, hi, Lisa.
I did not. Oh, hi, Mark. I'm gonna throw us a water bottle. Okay, so we'll be obviously both in the room.
Yes. Have you seen? Yes, I've watched this. Yeah.
Thank you, Plex. I like that. Oh, I know that James Franco is having some problems right now. Is he?
Sex, scandal. Yeah. Anyways, but I thought it was brilliant and really funny and really sweet at the same time. He did.
Like I said, we talked about the fact that he's putting out another movie. It's, well, James was now, it's in it. He's in it. He did not write it, direct it, or produce it.
No, not really. I look this all up. But it does. It's him and Greg Sesterno, who were famously in the room together.
Yeah. Greg Sesterno watched an early cut of disaster artist and wanted to kind of move it. And I think he took it. And I think he took it.
And I wrote this movie to have both the minutes. Do you think? Excellent. That's what I've heard.
I was gonna say no. I think it's been released in two volumes, much like Kill Bill. One in... Worth a Matrix.
No, the Matrix was released. No, you remember the last two Matrix got released within a month of each other? Did they? Well, maybe it was...
I think they were a Euro party. Well, no, it's two of them that released very close to each other. Oh, it's not important. No, it's not.
But one's in March and one's in May for the best. And it's friends, but they are in parentheses. So it's best themes, best friends. Okay.
I do want to say it. This is for all intents and purposes. I'm gonna call it best friends. Because it's got the R in there.
So, parentheses. Oh, we're all the step brothers I've ever seen. Huh? It was a joke coming.
I said it's the worst rip off of step brothers I've ever seen. Yeah. I don't want to end the reviews, but apparently it's good. I have.
People have been saying pretty universally good things about it. I don't think it's one of those things where it's kind of like an Oscar, where it's like the Gimme Oscar after you got robbed the year before. I think people genuinely like the film. You think the room got robbed for an Oscar somewhere?
No, but I'm just saying like you know how... Is that the big sick? And Logan? And the shape of water?
Oh, hi Wolverine. Oh, hi Professor Axe. Don't think it'd be okay Logan. Or be like, oh hi Coma girl.
Oh hi guys, it's gonna forsake his family and religion for me. That was a long way to go for that accent. Sorry. Yeah, that was pretty bad.
Yeah. I hung under it though. I really committed myself. I'm sorry.
So anyway, the disaster artist. I gotta say, my two favorite parts are not technically part of the story. Okay. Okay.
My two favorite parts are during the credits. When you have the shop for shop comparisons from the room and disaster artist. And that's right. Which, hold on, I'm sorry to interrupt you.
I gotta say this. I'm pretty sure it's just James Franco saying we didn't make this up. Here's the actual proof. Here's the actual movie.
Cause some people like, some of them never see the room don't know the room. Well, it's very much a cult and niche film. And by niche you mean cult. I mean, we'll put it to make one of those things where like when people study cinema, that's a film you come across.
But if you're not that interested in cinema, you may have never been heard of it. Well, and it's you've done like the Midnight Circuit, which is when you know, I mean you don't have a lot of people. But you know, I mean you don't have a lot of people that go to midnight movies. I mean you and I do.
Yeah, Bill and Ted's excellent adventure is going to be showing us a midnight at the craft house soon. This guy. The last time I partook in marijuana was... Well, that was the swarest thing you've ever said.
Back when I had a jazz cigarette, I couldn't smoke it. But um, I did we, yeah we had to. What did you do? Smoke it or have a edible?
Jesus. A double's one thing, yeah. Probably should have said snorkeling or having edible tea. That's what you snorkeling or marijuana.
That's why I said it. Because it was stupid. That's not how you eat salad. Um, so...
You said that's not how you toss the salad. There's a whole other thing there. But yeah, it was a single Robocop at Midnight Movies Esquire. And watching a movie, Stoned with Doug is not as quiet as you think it is.
Do you think I would just sit there and like, veg and like watch the movie and... No, no, no, no, no. Every time. I'd like never think you would do that.
But I mean, every time Kurt Woodsmith walked on the screen I went, dumbass! I feel like I remember the story. Oh, it was great. Um, but yeah, so I...
Oh, and the second thing I left with was my disastrous. Back from a couple minutes ago. Did you watch the Post Credit scene for which there is? No.
And it is greater than any Marvel Post Credit scene ever. Yeah, well, spoiler it, foreney, but I'm going to immediately go home and watch it. It's on YouTube. I've already watched today before you even showed up.
I wasn't late. And went, no, you weren't. I was early. And I also totally googled who this was earlier.
This is Let My Love Open the Door by Pete Townsend, which became a debate on my way here on who's saying this. I can actually, they could do that. But anyway, continue on. It sounds Post Credit scene.
It just makes you think of the end of Mr. Deeds without a sound look. Without a sound look. I'm gonna throw this couple to you.
That's without a sound look, it's horrible. Um, and I can't spoil enough. I told this to a co-worker who was in the room and disaster artist. Did not know that there was a Post Credit scene.
That's not me too. Yes. Yeah. And I said, no matter how I describe it, I can't ruin it.
I can't spoil it. I can spoil it in terms of what you know what you're walking into. What the content is, but you can't spoil my content. Content.
Not content. Oh yeah, like, no, let me phrase that. Yeah, content, but not content. Context.
You can't spoil content. You can't. So I'm gonna tell you this, I'm gonna tell all of you. Wait till the end of disaster artist.
Go ahead. Is James Franco's Tommy Wiseau meeting the real Tommy Wiseau? You're right, you can't spoil that. No.
Even if I describe part of their conversation, it still doesn't do with justice. They do talk about their accents and where they're from. Where's Tommy Wiseau supposedly from? Whatever.
He's been purposely back about it. His entire career. Well, the end of disaster artist ends with that. No one knows how old he is where he's truly from.
He has started. Is that billboard still up? The room? Is the one that breaks the star no sees in the movie?
Yeah, like he's had that opportunity. You finally stop paying for it? It doesn't matter. If it does, where does the money come from?
We don't know. No one else. And it's better not to ask. Honestly, better not to ask.
I just assume he was on the team that was trying to rob the Nakatomi Plaza. He was the first diehard and he's just a guy that got away with it. Like he's like, well, that guy was dropping off a roof. I got all the barrebons and then made a movie.
You realize it's barreons, not barrebons. No, I assume they have bears on them. Right? They're all from the state of California which has a barrelin's flag.
And that's why there was the Teddy Bears picnic in the, you know, Ray Fiennes, say, Avengers. Yes. Because the barrebons. Yeah, the care barrebons.
Well, now I'm thinking about famous bears they'd have on those. Like they definitely get the care barreras and Winnie de Pooh. Bart the bear. Bart the bear?
Uh, famously played bears in movies. Oh, got it. Yeah. He was in grizzly Adams.
Bart the bear. Bart the bear. Like the country bears obviously. And their jamboree.
What's the difference between the country bears and their jamboree? Because it was a country bears jamboree. Yeah, but I mean, if you have the country bears don't like it. We have the jamboree implied.
Yeah, okay. I guess the other one. I'm sorry. We should go back to the list because we're not going to start fighting over anatomical pairs.
Well, as anatomical errors. You're right. I was like, are we arguing about their dicks and or have we done this? I really don't want to go into that because I know nothing about bear jinn.
We're all the jamboree members. No, there was female members. Okay. Nice surprise.
Fright. Another round for everyone. All right. Our guest stars here on the podcast.
Hi everybody. I'm sorry. You have to say oh hi everybody. Hey everyone.
That was more Dr. Nick than. Sorry, you missed your argument about whether or not all of the country bears were male or female. One of them was female because there was like the mama bear.
No, there was a little sister bear. I think there was a little sister bear. Okay. No, the country jamboree.
The country jamboree. The country jamboree. There was a girl. It was a mom or was it a little sister?
Little sister. Right. Okay. Is this because there's always never a mother figure in things like this?
No, it's like Disney. They're all dead. Poor guy. And at the Bernstein Bears there's the mom in the little sister.
Yes. They're all families. It's from the bear and sister bear and mom bear and pop bear. Because they don't really have names.
I like your porridge the most or whatever. That's Goldie Colocks. Oh, right. Actually, I think they're all birds.
But they all had bombs is the point. Because they're very bombs. I think they're all small. You're right.
Thanks. I'm like. And now we've been bearish our waitress on the same thing. I know this is why people love us.
So, okay. Well, it's going to well, I had a great segue into the whole. We're going to have to keep having the same conversation over and over again in which. I'm pretty sure we've been talking about country jamboree.
I normally hold off on talking about a lot of people. I'm talking about a lot of the CWDC, DCTV stuff. Well, it's because I don't keep up on it anymore. And that more has to do with basically time poverty and the fact that they struggle for a few seasons.
So, there were some season-specific shows that was really hard for me to get into. But even, like I said, Flash. Legends. I disagree.
So, we decided to start doing DCTV about what every three weeks? Hold on. Do you remember the part of Pulp Fiction, when whom with Thurman goes all sex lines and video tape on John Chavolta's character? Be more specific.
What I'm watching right over your shoulder. Like she has a video camera and she's going all sex lines and video tape on them. I don't remember this part at all. And you didn't remember how to say that?
Yeah, I remember. She starts heroin almost dies and then you meet. I don't remember this at all. Yeah, right?
Because if I remember correctly, what happens is she's talking to him over the intercom. And he talks to him about- She doesn't mean- Yeah, he makes himself a drink. They talk of the intercom and then they do the close up on her dirty foot. Because it's, you know, he's got a foot in it.
And then the next time you see them they're at Jack- Jack- Jack- Jack- Jack- Jack- Jack- Jack- Jack- and then the next time you see them. Jack- What's his name? Jack- No, that was when they blow the guys head off. Jack- No, it's not what you're seeing with that's fantastic.
Jack- Actually, I really just wanted to pass that on. Jack- Oh, what is his name? Jack- It'll come back to me in the middle of the monitor. Jack- Air stilts.
Jack- Yes, thank you. I was like, original murder big fly. I got that far. Jack- Is it weird that you said that and I thought not back to the future?
Jack- Yes. Jack- Air stilts. Jack- Air stilts. Jack- Yeah, Air stilts.
Jack- I remember that at all. Jack- I don't remember this part about the group that you're dating at all. Jack- No, no, no, no. I think what happened was after the dance contest he took her home.
Jack- Yeah. Jack- And then he went to the bathroom. Jack- No, she went to the bathroom. Jack- No, but she started her own.
Jack- Sorry, we're not discussing like exact parts of publics. Jack- We were not talking about publics. Jack- Sorry, we're not talking about publics. Jack- Because it's on the TV.
Jack- Actually, that's why that's why it's happening. Jack- I was just watching Supernatural. Jack- This one's on him. Jack- Jack- Because we keep getting sidelined.
Jack- Sorry, I'm trapped. Jack- Sure. Jack- So I think about how I wouldn't bring up the DCTV outside of premieres, mid-season finales, and like, series of finales. Jack- I don't think we had rules that were that specific.
Jack- I didn't. Jack- I'm like, no, I just think we should check in with them. Jack- Yes, absolutely. Jack- That was one of the legends.
Jack- I've done it two weeks in a row, one's on your vomit, and then one's on this. Jack- I'm telling me, before next week, I need to catch up on legends, and watch all of it up to this point. I will, and then we can have a conversation about legends again. Jack- Can you, though?
Jack- That's like a job, I should have plenty of free time. Jack- Oh, but it's not about it. Jack- Because I hope you get a job. Jack- It's a nice thought.
The only reason I wouldn't get players is because I'm overqualified. Jack- That's a proper reason to not get- Jack- It happens a lot these days, but it's more just one of those things where I want a very low-stress job without a huge amount of responsibility that follows me home. Jack- I know it's fine being responsible when I'm at work. Jack- I know it's not cool to quote some guys movies who may or may not have hit on a 14-year-old and been in great movies like Baby Driver and American Beauty and Not Capax.
Jack- Really hate that American Beauty's team did now? Jack- It's just beautiful living. Jack- Is Thora Birch, I think, might be dead? Jack- She's not, she just doesn't act anymore.
Jack- That's not all that we're talking about. Jack- Then I always continue quoting. Jack- And, by the way, so, once again, we did this up there. Jack- Cheers and- Jack- Carl!
Jack- Oh, yes. Jack- That is a pre-emptive. Jack- It's a pre-emptive Carl. Jack- So, the new episode of Legends is basically Groundhog Day.
Once again, the middle of season two where you dropped off. Jack- Yeah, like me to death bar. Jack- The middle of season two. Pretty much everyone dropped off.
Jack- Well, no, it's the- Jack- They unlocked- Jack- They cracked the code. Jack- In terms of character interaction, let's have fun with the episodes. Jack- I'm the character who is having a really hard time. Jack- Honestly, I think this came out of- Jack- They didn't know what they were the character.
Jack- And she's going to be important later, so they're like, well, we have to figure out- Jack- How to make her, you know, ingratiate herself to the team. Jack- But she so closed off. Jack- I know, Jack- That she has to relive the same hour over and over and over again, trying to stop a bomb that's going to go off, but she ends up, of course, like, Bill Murray, like learning more about the crew. Jack- I have so many responses to this, but can you take it?
Jack- When you respond to the fact that Nick, heatwave, has a secret sci-fi erotic novel he's been writing. Jack- It is. Jack- Don't she help some of the ending at the end? Jack- Speaking of the time-load, the time-load, the time-load.
Jack- Time-load that would be loper? Jack- I feel like- I feel like I was Wallace. Jack- Do you have it, I was patched to make that joke. Jack- Go ahead.
Jack- So, time-loop episodes have actually been in some of my favorite episodes, the Buffy time-loop episode, where she's working at the Magic Store, and she can't get out of the loop until she makes the customer happy. Jack- The- The trio actually do like several things to her in that episode, but yes, but- Yes, but that's the specific one where she's fighting with a lemme hands. Was that the first act? Each member of the trio has an act on that one.
I think that was the second act, but I could be wrong. It's been a while There's also something similar to that in the magicians. Oh stop. Oomer Thurman just said you're gonna be a square into a rectangle bullshit No, it's don't be a square.
I know she drew a rectangle It's the longer this absolutely has to be a direct first cut because I'm not fucking remember that but she drew a rectangle I'm totally rewatching this movie when we're not actually talking about it watch this movie recently She's lost a rectangle. Oh, no, not the video. Oh, and there's there's Nixon What did this happen? She's smoking in the restaurant.
Also, there's a midget Like dressed like a one-jockey first of all I'm pretty sure he's a belop Second of all that just makes me think of What does that make you think of? We're horrible. There we go in this spirit. There's a midget bellhop movie Yeah, Blint it up also.
There's one in Fear and love in Las Vegas when that brings up fun up to him. He's like, oh, yeah, I can go to this weird race You're an edge character. Anyways, is it the same guy? I hope it is Whatever, but I was going to say In the magicians which that's a lot.
It's the librarians sure Like I said, not the magicians in the librarians There's an episode where they do kind of get caught into a time loop and only one character is aware of it And it basically drives him insane Because he ends up knowing and loving everybody else a lot more and he can't keep watching them die over and over and over again They do get into that with the legends episode where she finally sacrifices herself to save the team After multiple uses of the flasher, but it's it's like the men in black memory Well, there's is more of a military L shaped flashlight But yeah What's his name the guy turns into metal sergeant steel or whatever is really missed That's the point I never know better name would be captain steel. We're right. We'll move up the ranks I could buy like a general steel sounds like you know like that scrubby pad you get at the store to get really hard to remove General steel wall Anyway But him and the original vixen like they almost fuck a permission by fucking and so they blank My god wife you know much future man, I did What do you do this? But I do love that Mick used the memory flasher to get Since they went to the 70s and he had water leave why would you write a song about losing a whore?
No, but my point is from like 10 minutes ago Legends has once in crank the code on how to have a lot of fun and get character development and not this episode But the last episode of Constantine like I have plot elements So my big picture about legends in the first season was how can I'm fisted it was it was very tight right? Well, what legends was was was was I was gonna say What legends was was yeah, that's grammatically correct was A bunch of side characters from all their other shows there are popular enough To like have their own episode but not have spin-off series. I just agree because I watch white can't read anything Could you carry a show? I don't think my character carry out The first season it was laid out for them the reasons they were chosen for this mission was because they had an impact on their timeline that wasn't so great We're legends no they had impact on the timeline that wasn't so great.
You would alter a lot of history without moving them No, they were brought together because they would become legends. It was a lie though He chose them because Rory say that and yes, I call him Rory Yeah, it was because they were heroes, but their impact was not so great. They could be removed without changing everything right smoke industries Yeah, exactly. Oh, by the way at the end of the new episode I'm the spoiler for you and sorry folks Rory comes back.
I'm sorry rip hunter comes back. No, we call him Rory He's a centurion and he's always going to be Rory and looks like he's going to That's right. I'm gonna always leave for us That's actually quieter than paper Rip looks like to be recording a new team of legends involving Wally West. I'm just how do I know about that?
I feel like they finally figured out with him. Wally West No show for a really long time. Yeah, exactly on flash like where you just fuck soft to not even blue city like whatever Like they don't fuck them off to a real place in the DC universe Excuse me It's not even a real place In the same insulin series I'm sorry, I think it's like it's not everyone's right this book But like I said, it's like when Saint James just got soft blue headed. Yeah, like I know where you made this character And then he's just he's just not involved anymore.
He's just fucking gone. No, yeah It's the same thing. It's the same thing. It's the same and same just like comes in and goes well I guess I gotta get them and then a fraction of God is like I guess I'll put you together It's like it's this weird hanging thread in your blog.
You're like I guess I'll use it now I guess it's something else which talk about as well. I Finished the last of the most recent ex novels by Peter Kline's actually This one was so good. I hated half of it Like welcome to night Well, no, it's one of those were I think rudgingly read the first half because I trusted the second half would be that yeah I haven't read that so I don't know if the powers Maybe they learned their thing lesson maybe We'll just jump to that But I finished the last of the the Xbox by their clients you and I have to have other problems with it the last couple books actually do Fix a lot of what we like about them. It is that He threw so many interesting ideas and interesting characters got us, but he didn't build any of them So in this new book he kind of pulls a like and what I went later walk and dead We're gonna divide the characters up I mean stealth is almost not in the newest book weird.
She was the most interesting character for me I just I thought she was too good to be true Yeah, supermodel Yeah But like I said, she was the most interesting character to me because she still had self worth and self value But she was also, you know, like completely unbelievable So I'm sorry I paid for college just a long train model and she didn't have to because her dad was like an international thief or something Something like ridiculous I feel like maybe he meant that to be a joke, but it didn't come off as a joke so The book starts off with the electrical characters Three's actually I kind of liked and I also thought it kind of reminded me of like the human torch version in the venture universe It's powering the whole building. Yeah, he's incredible pain the whole time So he finds a floating Bunch of ships I put together Lumeria, it's what they end up calling it like an island nation And he and Saint George or the majority of everyone look at it, but Saint George and girls girl And the corpse girl Go out to it and you find out there are some sinister things of foot Shocking At the same time the mobile battles Cerberus has gone out to this like giant like garden. They've been recommending called Eden. Okay, yeah, right They're hanging nicely.
Thank you. I just assumed my dick is named Babylon and my balls are gardens Not gonna have five five five. There's a dumb joke great joke, but a dumb joke And it kind of the novel like bounces between like what's going on even versus going on Lumeria And I have no problem with that. I don't have a secret story lines.
Do they ever merge? They don't physically but they do thematically so I'm happy But he does have a couple chapters that I think he meant to be like Steinbeck ask in terms of like See how far I'm rolling my eyes right now, but like there are chapters where In Steinbeck's grips of wrath. We have the turtle in the highway and all that kind of stuff What's all metaphors and he does like having chapters like flashbacks to characters of since been dead like Morgan and well, I guess it's in Georgia still around but He does like flashback to like the beginning of the X virus as he calls it. So here's what I'm getting for I'm sorry For no reason like really like yeah, you have to be the tough calls those callback chapters I'm gonna call them or about like making tough calls But like you just assume that when you're in the zombie apocalypse you're making tough calls Why have a call back chapter about that with a character who is dead and probably one return we'll see So here's what I'm hearing is that a is doing backtracking or be you have this all planned out beforehand and chose badly on how to I just box now in terms of that.
I can't speak too much. It will be an episode of mr. Right During his acknowledge acknowledgments section of the book he talks about how he's Never like outlines when he makes outlines. I don't fucking like outlines either But that's not the point the point is either has a super shitty editor or he needs to sack the fuck up I'm not sure I grew either of those statements What's one of those things where either his editor is telling him that he's putting the wrong bits in in novels You draw people in or he's trying to draw it out.
He was on he was on a time crunch after writing His hit novel true true The fold to read it no the first exit No, he was coming up in the fold he's on time crunch to write the new exes novel so he did what he doesn't like to do Build an outline which he seems in a weird contentious relationship with now. I have my users of outlines and we'll talk about this more It's more of a mr. Right thing I'm gonna talk about it mr. Right being beholden to it an outline However, like I said, it's one of those things where he had so many good ideas in the series and I haven't seen any of them fruition yet It's what I'm gonna read the first book.
I'm gonna write the first three Four and five actually get really good expurgatory and exile. I'm sorry This is kind of a TV series thing Where I have to basically invest myself by book speed before it's good to be good I Have to invest five books deep before I get to go five books is way more than five episodes That's a lot more responsibility five books to make it good or fucking kidding me That's a lot working on his make it rain It's the literal tagline from this movie make it rain Let's be just 13 fuck that movie So talk about what you like to talk about I guess so let me start off with two things one apology no the soundtrack was fantastic That wasn't always going out, but okay, too Originally was supposed to be two movies and that's blatantly obvious. Yeah, because it's like three hours long Everything happens at night everything's raining don't even fucking see everything's like an hour and a half in no Over two hours. Oh, I look the minute.
He like goes like what could be was it Las Vegas? Maybe it's supposed to be like a band of Las Vegas Yeah, it's well over two hours like me in the theater with Tony trying not to fall asleep that Movies makes a total sense because gi-d leto's character makes no sense. Yeah, he steps at naked lady that naked replicant No, no what he makes Well, he's trying to know He's trying to make a new Rachel was from a new Sean young He like stabs are like in the guts I imagine that like sure that is character would be like what Elon Musk would be like the answer to the other I think it's but Elon Musk's life would be like if Philip Kadek wrote the future The glowing eyes and though the weird thing in his neck that like controls the weird odd that camera everything I know enough that he'd choose own car in the space and I'm pretty sure he might make replicants Enough that he died way too early and probably wasn't replicants They were all replicants and a sister that died very young and unexpectedly And he ended up becoming which informs part of the rep 29. Yeah, he became More and more convinced about alien intervention as he got older Like she think you're let over the name No But it's one of those things where Philip Kadek had these very foreign concepts in his head because of emotional traumas that happened to him And you also have to remember the first Blade Runner, but they Scott filmed it and scripted it without actually ever reading to enter into extreme electric chief And thought of one of the greatest endings with the director's ever which is if Deckard was a replicant It's actually implied in the story The director's got but I mean, it's implied in doing Shit shit really like I said, it's implied in doing Android stream electric sheep is that everybody's a replicant and specifically decker is a replicate He's replicant his wife's a replicant.
Yeah, it's implied. Yes. No way. Thanks wife In the book expense for sure.
It's in the end. He has the frog and she's calling to get maintenance done on it I think it's a nice way from the book. It's been a while. They're not making this conversation But the bus ain't been a while since reading that book.
No, we can't because right now it's you'll be a woman soon Over your shoulder Well, no, she's dancing around in bits of Vegas, but think about the time period between them being at the restaurant this happening That's a time is very subjective in Tarantino, yeah, but I wouldn't say time's objective in Pulp fiction because time is objective in which case like everything happens on a linear level Like everything happens in order. It's just that's shown out of all this has the bandaid on the back of his neck Now or what was in the briefcase And the bandaid would have been where the soul was extracted from However, what else is on your list? We still haven't talked about runaways Well, I've watched runaways. Okay.
Talk to me about runaways. So Not enough running away too much parents Let's run more away. Um It's one of those things where it's like they were trying to kind of do it actually more solo series. Okay, so they actually run away The game in the last episode and yes, okay, but in the comics They run away the first I think they were trying to do like a preacher Jessica Jones Luke Cage thing where the very they're very slow build but hulu you don't have a money for that I did it I think the comics that the parents were not sympathetic at all and oh there's some of that in the show yes in the comics no, but they're all mafia and evil alien warlords and Mechanical robots bent on killing all humans.
Yeah killing all humans. Nobody can see us doing robot hands But in the show the clip that you were left with is that the kids run away with a tiny sword by the way and The parents are gonna kill dr. Do effectively that's julium a man Because I was watching a really good doctor. He was amazing doctor.
Do you in the first movie? Second movie. Yeah, never done. I'm gonna talk about the other one either.
I'd have to you human torches for dean himself. Yes, they have One of them is a curtain killmonger. Are you fucking serious? uh Lastly The walking dead Hey, I can replace the guy.
You see died This episode on the walking dead. Yeah, like I could totally do it. It's weird. Johnny Gilbert from fucking jeopardy, man This is another huge divergent from the comics, which is falling.
They've made themselves separate entities So what we alluded to the entire episode is coral the walking dead um, yeah, so carls fucking dead man and That's not my biggest takeaway from this episode actually I mean it was sweet and it was poignant and we finally got the reveal on the like whole bearded rick thing You realize when you say bearded brick you make him sound like a subspecies lizard. I wouldn't say a smooth, but all right The bearded rick That that was carls like vision of the future as he's dying Which is hwrenching hwrenching that he sees these people working at Alexandria and he sees people like Eugene and spoiler alert nigan Working in the gardens of Alexandria to rebuild a better world Um, it's very funny and very sweet. Um, very earnest But my big takeaway was kind of part and parcel with each other. Um went lemme james character morgan Regis into a guy and rips his guts out That happens and then when he's like In front of a savior and like he's like, I'm gonna fucking kill him And then this little kid just like up in like steps savior dude for like through the throat and you realize what kind of world that Carl envisioned i'm sorry carl envision for the children of the future and if it's possible you read uh Yes, and I saw the turtle turtle movie.
We're not gonna talk about the movie But do you remember the part they had where it was the woman working with feral children? Yes, and they do the interview with the old girl who's she's cognitive and she can speak, but it's not Quite right. It's got her all its yeah That's the same kind of thing i see happening here is the children of the future will essentially be half feral I disagree. Okay.
I think that they will be more inclined to kill. It'll be more savage Savage is the right word. I just think violent brutal quick to conclusion No Objectively morally compromised. Okay.
Hold on. Yeah. I'm packed. No.
No. No. It's not that there's a better way to put it. I can't think of the words right now We're on the watch scene of uh, Paul fission case or watching it.
Oh He had this hunt of metal up his ass You have talking mungies. I just jumped up that other movie that he was in. Sorry Obviously was a fucking red movie. So what do you got for walking that?
But I think they're morally Commerized. I mean they're definitely warped. Yeah, oh absolutely compromised once again the word compromised the fact that and it's subjective versus objective. I've been running a lot of a chuk-losterman Um, you know the tornado motion, you know, I'm gonna have a heist and a hurricane.
It's like sister. What was it coming? Storms are coming Um, but I think I think it's a good way for Carl to go out Carl does like kind of have a confession somewhere he says like there was a kid in my age. He had gone he lowered it and I still fucking shot him and killed him and that was Him saying like look the world is maybe this way But the world could be different.
He does say that it was Dan Rick. There's no fun way to say Rick. I'm like where are Um, but There was that part like two seasons ago where like Rick and Carl like became like rib farmers Like they kind of like literally beat their you know their swords into plowshares and Carl is still saying like that's possible Give your enemies mercy To do that My question is In terms of that kid with the whole Morgan Carroll's savior thing the Carroll was there. I use that for you to mention that Um, where the kid just like sticks it with a throat With a stick which is brutal Huh No, god.
No But is there mercy In the next generation's world in terms of the zombie apocalypse They don't do the Z when the Walker apocalypse So you think that Carl's a vision of the future? I think it's untainable And Rick says he'll make it happen. No, I think it's untainable Carl knows what it was before he knows what it is after most of the next two years. So it is actually he's gonna fucking die And then to the forewalkers and afterwalkers.
Okay, sorry Most of the people that are going to be running the world after that Especially, you know, if they're little kids, people can throw the sticks don't have a before they only have that You think Henry's a that was a good thing Henry's a threat to I don't think Henry's a threat I think Henry has a different mentality. Let me You think Henry's Kind of the kids that were born into this world are a threat to The utopia of that Carl and vision. You think to them utopia's no option What do you think about Rick's kid? Uh, not Carl Carl Judith.
Judith Laskaker. What do you think of her? I think Judith will probably be incredibly messed up Oh, yeah, so much trauma She was literally in an episode this last episode the Everything she knew one of those I don't think she's the girl new girl She's gonna have a different moral compass than anybody's ever envisioned because she has been so shaped by the trauma and that trading back and forth Having absolutely no security or any type of common sense. Yeah, but this in the news which is looks get back to the real world They're hungry because nobody pays attention to her.
There's a whole generation of what? She seems like one of those kids that won't cry when they're hungry because nobody pays close enough attention to her because there's always so much other shit going on That's terrible. Yeah, I was gonna say the whole like host Columbine generation where we could be next That there's always a sense of like heightened fear Um, wow welcome to go super kind of real on the show. So let me segue that into my social contract Yes, it's about dietary bullshit In caveman times no one ever had a gluten allergy No one ever said can we get a less rap instead of bread or oh chicken stock is better than just eating chicken Here's the thing though in caveman times maybe somebody did have a gluten allergy and just spent a lot of time feeling there's no way silly ex-disease There You're right.
I wasn't there. I don't have a dalorian nor do I have you know, I'm on the wave writer with uh, you know, I was gonna say mick Um, whose last name is Rory really enough. Thanks. I'm like you're welcome You just got to a fight about the walking dead Well never on gluten allergies, but yeah, and I told them maybe cavemen did have gluten allergies They just didn't know what I could play about it.
Well, there probably wasn't a whole lot of gluten in the caveman days There was there was still some version of brain or wheat There was totally gross and anyone who had silly ex-disease would have been dead, genetically speaking It would have eliminated it. I'm gonna tweak silly ex-disease and a silly act. We have gluten allergy So anyway Um, I'm sorry like don't like If you didn't have silly ex-disease, you're not fucking gluten. You want to be vegan?
Great No, but the thing is that both my sister and my sister and mom have five road problems and if they eat gluten it exacerbates the problem What is exact right name? It means to make something worse. Oh But like I'm saying neither of them are dicks about it They just trying to put gluten because it makes them feel like shit because it amplifies the problems They have that they're gonna say that they're five Will they die? No, they'll just be like ass But in caveman times there were caveman times they'd be fucking dead because it's survival best.
We both knew this I'm just saying when you order when you order like burgers with that like bread and all that and you go And right, I'm afraid like I think you're discounting people that are agitated by gluten allergies or Sensitive yeah, yes or have silly ex-disease I don't think that should be a thing anymore. Like I'm sorry The thing is that you're basically you're basically pointing out the most annoying Secnive society, which is people that make a big deal out of the choice that they've made I know lots of vegans vegetarians, you'll be asking people with all sorts of other food allergies that don't be a dick about it You do you just don't be an asshole. Don't be a dick We can slow If you like this check out some of our other shows like mr Right exotic liability and no applause just the clap you can find us at www.bacnpodcast.com and by searching for bacn on iTunes and stitcher Oh, yeah
