The DFC, the investment arm of the US government, has committed just under US$5 million to the development of the Ampasindava ionic clay rare earths project in Madagascar, owned by Harena Rare Earths. The DFC conducted significant due diligence over many months, and the likelihood is that the bank will follow up this initial financing with a more sizeable package when it comes to putting Ampasindava into production. First concentrate is expected within 24 months, according to Harena's executive chairman Ivan Murphy. He joins Vox to tell us more.
