Hello, welcome to Noah Plaz, just the flap. The only show that didn't talk about opening beforehand again. Sorry, I was mid-airpen distracted by the lab from the background. Lab noises!

You heard that movie on light. Steve Carell or just that part? That part. I hear that ministration track bears.

You hear that? Ed? Bears. Night put in the whole station in jeopardy.

That movie's really fucking funny. We watched it like three weeks ago. Totally holds up. It's not good, Doug.

Anchorman? It's not a good movie. It's not a good movie. Yeah, you're wrong.

It's fucking stupid. That's not even an argument. You're wrong. You're wrong.

It's stupid. No, until it take it stupid. But it works. Anchorman is fucking genius.

Are you one of those people that doesn't like Wolf to watch? What was the other one? I love that one. I love Strangerly Fiction.

We had this conversation before. Our problem was that we had a fiction that was not Wolf. It was that Maggion and Hall was a horrible miscast because they had zero sexual chemistry. Yes.

I will never, ever, ever believe that Wolf. They're Wolf. They're Wolf. And Maggion and Hall totally want to bang each other.

But her and James Vader, absolutely. Secretary? That wasn't fair. That wasn't fair.

You don't think they should get out? The third one? Yeah, I didn't care. Yeah, no, I don't either.

I just stopped popping online and I went, oh, they're still making those? Well, that's the last one unless they start doing the trilogy with the Rehearsal point of view. Where does Ginger upper but hold? How did you know that's what I was about to say?

Because that's the thing from the first book. I think it's just called Grey. I'm not sure. I don't know the second third books or the first thing is about Grey.

They know I've made second and third books. I have no fucking idea. But I know Grey is the first book and I remember the Ginger thing and I thought about it recently because I was actually feeling some ginger to make dinner last night. It made me uncomfortable.

Because they would not only sting, but they're awkward shapes. I mean, do you have a really beautiful view about Japonic? No. I'll lump you.

It's his take on the Fifty Shades thing. If I'd known that I would have read it so long ago. Yeah, it's about an entrepreneur who, like Dorian Grey. It's a Dorian Grey?

No. Christian. Christian Grey. Dorian Grey is a portrait.

Right, right, right. Christian Grey, an equivalent of that, who launches his language to sex toys. They're so efficient that ladies don't leave the room, which even sounds great. But it becomes almost like dystopian, like, world after that.

What's the future of a thing when he just wants to make up this Marilyn Monroe bot? No, it's a loose movie about Marilyn Monroe. No, that was in the video. Yeah, yeah.

Like the Robosexuals, yeah. It's like, come back for like Robogana Rhea, the loud killer. The noisy killer. Something like that, yeah.

Oh, god. I've been rewatching Future. I watched all of Future on a month ago. This is awesome.

The actual last season was a little heavy. Like, they kind of knew what they could do and like, it seemed like the last season was like, here are all the ideas. We had previous, and we're just gonna do episodes about them. The last season seemed really disjointed, like episode to episode, because it was very much like very, I know, creative Future on a month saying that.

But it was very like Simpson's, like, almost family guy self-part, still like all of those animated movies. Shows where they start on one thing and on another, like almost completely unrelated. But if you watch it, you can see the thread, which to me is not a future on episode. It kind of depends.

Like, there's certain episodes of Future on that have changed the narrative completely. You know, like, an Indian kid down to read. Um, uh, uh, Fruit, Ru, Bernard, or whatever. Oh, Tom Fonru.

Tom Fonru, that was it. We've been doing all right. Who would love another one? I'll take a round.

Okay, thank you, please. Yeah, I'm Tom Fonru. That was it. That and I remember the joke and like, one of the movies.

Is that the swamp hag? I had four jobs. I'm also the high-lunch lady. I'm good wife, yeah.

She's like, it's a work in economy, yeah. I don't know why I did that too. Or whatever it says. So.

So anyway. Um, thanks for talking about this week. Would you like to begin? Do you want to get into this week or do we don't have a general talk?

Let's save the general talk, next photo. Um, the Legion premiere. Holy fuck. I did not.

I did not. But for me, that Legion has become one of those shows where I have to kind of wait until the end of the season to binge, because I want to know everything right away. And you still won't have to watch it. That's the thing.

Well, I mean, I'm not going to do it find out what's real, or who's real and who's not. I'm not going to try this and get it justified where I wait for the series to end, but it's one of those things where I would rather wait, you know, a couple months or three months. And find out what happens, you know, pretty much immediately all the way down as opposed to going week to week. Did you watch Legion season one?

Okay, so you know what the end gets taken by that weird orb? Yes. You're lying. No, I was distracted by sneezing.

Ah, well. Um, but you know what, like he gets taken by the orb and like, as he's tracking the shadow of the music, oh he's inside the south. Everything's fine with me and it's a Barrett. And, um, and then that orb comes in and like steals him and you're like, a perfect, perfect fucking ending.

To a season like Legion where it's just like metal orb steals Legion and you're like, wait, what? You're like, of course that's how I would have been. And you're like, that's my bread and butter, you're fucking kidding me. Exactly.

And you, okay, so much of the last season was all about like kind of reality and like what is real. Yeah. Um, this season. It was about like sense of perception, but yeah.

Yeah. Okay. I agree with that. It smells like cantaloupe.

What does that mean? It smells like cantaloupe. Like in real life are you quoting something? No, in real life.

It smells like cantaloupe where I'm sitting right now. What does that mean? You're having some kind of medical condition that smells like cantaloupe? I hope not.

I hope not. I fucking hate cantaloupe. Okay. It smells like melons?

Any kind of melon I hate it. Really? Watermelon? Hmm.

I will eat watermelon, but it's kind of a what's the point type of thing. It's not that flavorful and the seeds are pain in the ass. Yeah, you can spit them out at people. I'm literally talking about eating a revenge fruit.

Watermelon, the revenge fruit. Mm-hmm. I don't attack fruit. It is.

Got it. Okay. Sorry. So, um, so this one's apparently more about time than like what is time and I'm a spoiler.

You know, I don't like time. Turns out, I know. It turns out that what Legion or David would have been a column poll. Um, I'm gonna say Legion.

That's how I know him from the comics. Um, that he was in, he thinks he was in the orb for like a couple hours. Anything's only one day as passed. Um, it turns out he was in there for a year.

So a year has passed for Lettermilk for Jean Smart's character. Pretty much everyone. But Legion. Okay.

So now we're getting into like what is time and there's a weird psychic, um, virus going around from where both Legion and the Shadow King have both appeared. But Legion doesn't remember that. Okay. Um, and it's terrifying because it is people standing like statues except for their jaws clicking together.

Which is, by the way, that click click click sound from the Black X-hero series. Like now that I can hear it, like now that I've seen it, I'm like, oh, that's fucking terrifying. And I actually have to give Peter Klein's fucking points for the fact that he realized that like zombies would just click their teeth constantly and reading it. It's like, yeah, okay.

I feel like all the X books would do much better as a series. TV series. Oh, yeah. Yeah.

Great. He has lots of interesting ideas. It's just his books fucking for me and I don't connect with the characters. Now, unfortunately Legion did, uh, and I'm going to call you out on this Noah Faley, is that what he's saying?

Um, stop stealing my fucking ideas. Because I actually thought of the weird timeline four days versus a year, one day versus a year, all that shit. Yeah, you mentioned that to me. Yes.

Quite some fun to go. The sister book, the door upcoming novel, Fear Agents, the sister book. You mentioned that to me a long time ago. I know, right?

Um, because I had that whole thing with the, well, I'm not going to say it. I don't want him to steal my ideas. Um, but anyway, uh, trippy as fuck. They had a dance off.

Think about that. Think about, uh, what's his name from Florida Concord's? Jermaine. Jermaine, thank you all and say Jermaine, that wasn't right.

Jermaine and Legion having a fucking dance off using actual humans as puppet dancers around them. It is not only very impressive choreography. It's horrifying and weirdly funny. So I'm super excited for Legion season two.

I will watch it week to week because it's FX. They're not going to do that weird thing like Flash and Arrow have been doing lately where it's like back for two weeks off for two weeks back for two weeks off for two weeks or Lucifer has been off for like two or three weeks. FX is just going to fucking run it for the, the 10 episodes, two of the episodes, whatever it is. We're all fucking dying.

This will be a plasm to the word. Um, for maybe so bold as to quit my club. As I have to name. Um, do you want to bring up a counterpoint or?

To this point counterpoints. Um. And we'll just do that song where Deadpool's got the knife in his head and there's all the little cartoons you get a coin around. Uh, bring up a counterpoint.

Now I'm thinking about that. How can you not? It was like, I'm not the same man that was in his suit. Yes.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then I think it's not like the age where he does like the big dive bomb and takes that angel dust or whatever.

I was anxious. Was that angel dust? Did he only call her angel though? Yes.

He only call her angel. It's like your boy, your school, people that I thought was fucking awesome. I might have Deadpool memorized him. She would have shocked.

I only watch it at least once a month. I was the grocery yesterday and I had these big ceramic unicorn Pegasus that I really wanted to buy in high places. If I dig, I mean like maybe 18 inches but stuff. I can make that.

That's not a big joke but let's be honest, I'm not. I'm not talking to my friend Lisa about how it's like a guy that's like a big dick, whatever. I don't know if I made this joke on the podcast. I don't know if I talked about this.

Because we saw this guy driving one of those big like lifted trucks, whatever and I was like sorry about your dick bro. I feel like you have talked about this. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, if you'd rather have something about how small this dick is because that's a pleasant surprise when it's not.

Hopefully. Yeah, but then it's an awful surprise when it is. And I said well, yeah, we have this conversation. Yeah, I have a medium dick.

Not that conversation. And by that I mean it talks to ghosts. Well, I'd be very important to get there with this girl. Uncomfortable.

Also, come on, that was a good joke. The medium dick. It talks to ghosts. Because it's a medium dick.

You've done? I'm just waiting for my HBO special. Medium dick. Shovel fighter.

What is Shovel fighter? Is that not? Yeah, that's right. And Regan, he does a special called Shovel fighter.

As he talked about, I don't know. But I reckon Regan doesn't really. Yeah. I'm looking at it.

So things I did this week, would you have something else you want to continue on? Well, no, they don't. Well, I've done so much stuff. Okay.

So. It's going to be my little interstitial. I tried to re-watch Justice League. Okay, interesting.

Still not good. How many times have you seen it so far? This would be the second. I found it better the second time.

I got distracted. I found it more. I found it more bearable the second time. Why not?

Okay, let me do the finish and let me finish the sentence. Finish it. Finish it. Like I said, trying to watch it decided it was a better idea to just have sex than finish the movie.

Well, any movie. Not necessarily. No, yeah, I'm a fan of one. There are movies that I had push girls off of me.

But it was one of those things where I was like, I should give this a second chance and watch it all the way through. You mean the sex? I know which one. No, it was the first time.

All right, kitty's got claws. Wow. This is awesome. People too.

Anyway. But like I said, no, it's one of those things like I should re-watch this. Maybe it's not as terrible as I think it was. Maybe I went in with a bad attitude.

I would miss. I'm growing on Ezreal. Oh, yeah. Like he's still no friend guster son, but I don't hate him as a flash.

I thought it was funny. Oh, he was really funny. I like a lot of things. He's like, guys, I love blood sugar.

Exactly. No, I actually- Like I said, it was one of those things where I like to try to sit down and focus and then two thirds of the way through. I'm like, kind of the fuckus. Or fucking, you know, one of the two.

That's a marets. I know. Okay. It's still my biggest bitch about Justice League and it takes me almost completely out of the movie.

I'm not gonna go to Bad CGI Face with Superman like fuck out. Oh, it's so bad. Also, I don't think stuff in there looks good. No, they're fighting a fucking character in a world of warcraft.

It's ridiculous. I'm glad you agree with me on that. Because like I said, he looks so- No, yeah, they start fighting like Ben Foster's character from World Warcraft. It's ridiculous.

My biggest thing that does totally take me out of the movie is that when they combine the mother boxes- For the unity? Yeah. Which just gets Operation Ibis stuck in my head. Like unity, unity, unity, unity.

I guess golfing folks. And no, but like it's like this weird, like amorphous purple vine just moving through the- Like it doesn't make any sense. Like if it's three mother boxes creating the unity. Unity, unity, unity.

It would be like almost like an area of effect attack, okay, under. But you know what I mean? Like it would be like a wave of power moving out and terraforming into a new apocalypse which is a whole bunch of other things. And so, except a wolf the mother boxes are from the planet apocalypse, not the computer the Marvel character apocalypse.

So, like it's just a weird- like it's a weird choice for effect that I have never been happy with. What do you think singer or we didn't? Who do you think made that choice? Singer or we didn't?

Well, Brian Singer had nothing to do with it, so I'm gonna have to go- I was like, this is an X-men Deborah. I was like, yeah, like- and singer made a bad choice with how apocalypse looked. See, look like whatever that was, like Mr. Who's or whatever his name was from the Power Rangers.

Now what? Like I said, so Snyder or we didn't? Do you think it's Snyder's? Totes, snides.

Totes, snides. So, in the very beginning of the movie, you know they have, well, I guess it's probably more like the one-third- No, that's too many in front of you. Totes, we didn't. Yeah, that cracked me up.

I really like that. You can take me here, we didn't in there. Random points. You can totally tell them CGing out of my stash.

It's just- it's not good. That's your job. Really? Really, Cavill?

Really? Well, what's his name? Wanted to do that too, Chris Evans. Perfuse the shavus beard from CellPiercer on the reshoots for Avengers.

They've been given- they hit it a lot better, sort of, but they didn't need to do it. They needed bad prosthetics and him not eating. Pretty much, yeah. I feel like that would have been a better choice.

And SnowPiercer is probably a better movie than whatever Henry Cavill is doing. They need to do much stash work. I have a look up. It does not matter.

We'll not be as good as SnowPiercer. Or like to call it Death Train. It's pretty accurate. What I was saying is, you know when they do the cutscenes of the, you know, three species putting the separated mother boxes into their places and they have, you know, the Amazonians and the Atlantians and the Atlantians.

And then they have Man burying it. That scene was straight up Lord of the Rings. Well, yeah. But it was one of those scenes where I'm sitting there with the gentleman at the time.

I'm like, this scene is straight up Lord of the Rings. And he looks at me and says, does that mean it won't have any logical ending? And I turn to him and say, and then Sam, pull on, like I said, and then I turn him and say, and then Sam, full on, bricks and protos now. I'm following him and say, Sam's now.

It doesn't really matter. And he just burst out fucking laughing. He's like, I'm so glad you knew exactly what I was talking about. Lord of the Rings had more endings and fucking clue.

Anyway, I don't know if you're lying for a movie or not, but that's what I'm saying. Obviously, it's because the ring was just a red herring. Oh, it was a love story. That would, uh, Randall says, it was one trilogy.

Anyway, um, in that repose, nothing. Great segue. The second half of the first season of the tick from Amazon popped at the beginning, uh, end of February. I was all late to the party on that one.

But I had been re-watching it, uh, or been watching the second half. Realized A.I should have watched the first half. Well, it seems pretty dense. There's a lot, especially when you start getting into, like, who overkill is in that talking dog?

Yeah, it's a talking dog. It's awesome. Um, which, the effects of the talking dog, I'm pretty sure that it's on purpose, is pretty much unparred with that talking dog from the push's big beans commercial. And I'm pretty sure they did that on purpose.

It's like, let's make the talking dog look terrible. Because it's a fucking talking dog. What can you do worse than lock jaw in the inhumans? Actually, the CGI on lock jaw wasn't that good.

I wasn't talking about how he was terrible. I was talking about how the series was terrible. Oh, the series was awful. Yeah.

Just awful. Who signed off on that? Well, Enghi and Jeff Loeb and whoever runs ADC. Who signed off on that?

Who signed off on the styling? God, I'm talking about fucking dating. Why wouldn't they make it look like 70s, 80s? They didn't.

They made it look like cheap 90s. They made it look like a shit. The answer. Um, I am thrilled with the tickets back.

I could not have said any higher praises to the Undone show. And it does a service to the Game of the Forward and the Pachorbert and stuff on Fox. And the animated series of- Damn you, Naga Hyde! Do you know what I'm talking about?

No. La, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la. Peter Seraf-Finnewitz. I got through it.

Um, what's against Sublime is the Tick. The guy in the bathroom. Arthur is great. I love that they play Jackie Earl Haley as the Terror and who's, like, a million years older than some shit.

Like his, like, over a hundred. And he's like sitting there playing the drums, which I think he must actually play the drums. He's dropping! And then they kinda like fold that in.

But having been England who created the tick and worked on Firefly as well team up with David Fury from Buffy and Angel and probably firefly Right episode together is it's just a blind. It's just a blind. I cannot say enough about this great enough about the show I always kind of really wanted to do like a weird tick kick ass crossover Yeah, because I can't really see them working together Work together at all that's one of those things where they have the you know very odd groups of villains with very specific goals Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing chair face Jep and Dale team up with is it red mist what does he call himself the motherfucker? Something like that makes the motherfucker.

It's the motherfucker because he leads the toxic mega-cons That's what I was trying to think of toxic mega-cons That's the name of the group where it's like everything is like a racial stereotype Are you sure you want to call him that yeah? He's Asian But like I said, yeah, can you imagine chair face Jep and Dale with redness and it talks it I was gonna talk like mega-cons Yeah, yeah, see was it mother Russia where like yes Girl takes it the shot of adrenaline. She's like I thought it kind of like you would be able to take a few more perks than this or whatever it was What is one of those things where's just the characters are so far-fetched? Yes, and stereotypical It would seem like it would be that it's almost a real yeah, the way it is in the tech I mean I get that in kick-ass.

It's has a certain threat of realism. It's got like a grounded earth once it earnestness, but yeah It's not sincerity, but it is grounded. I mean it's grounded in reality. Yeah However, the tick is very much not like the characters are so outlandish.

It seems like they do well doing stuff together However, people are fucking weird. So yeah, yeah, you'll give you that speaking of people are weird So I've been rewatching I've been watching the new season agents of shield and dev. I know growner This actually on that note this may actually be the last season you don't think they're gonna give them victory lap Let me finish that I'm gonna watch Okay, given if they give them more seasons I will just wait till they're fucking done and binge them This is the last season I will probably walk probably we'll see where it goes. You'll probably watch like episode episode Eight or three at more time for me to watch other things and two because it's just it's What's every time I describe what the season was in retrospect, it sounds really fucking cool But but when you're watching it week to week it is not This week brought up a bunch of very a very interesting question Which is they've just gotten back to the future a couple episodes ago and so they know there are like three characters Two of which meet their own grandson.

It's revealed. I could do the nasty in the past Mr. I am my own grandpa Wait, what were you doing? Yeah, you do Here's the interesting question There are a handful of characters in this on the team that know that they survive to the future and start acting bulletproof And literally one of the characters says we know we survive We can do not whatever we want but like we can take the risks we feel we need to take because we know we survive Well, that's the catch-twenty though, you know, but do you really know?

People want to know if there's destiny or faith So my question is you're aware that you exist in the future. No I would think like you are aware that you exist in the future I'm just making tired thinking about it Do you take risks knowing that you exist in the future thinking that either these institutions that you're being reckless lead you being alive or Take these reckless risks. I think that they may alter time. That depends on core personality Dude, I'm kind of a pussy I don't care if I know I survived in the fucking future I'm so gonna be scared to put myself in those situations And if you do die in that situation you change the future that actually would bother me.

I'm too selfish So okay, so are you falling on it? It's I'd be too scared and just hope that the decisions you make would be the right ones The ones that lead to the timeline I am not right but like all the time lines fuck once you go into flash Yeah, so I'm like just irresponsible rating in terms of it's lazy more than you're responsible I think it's responsible more than lazy. They're doing really hard work and they're going like okay What if you know you exist in the future from what we've seen? How would you act and they have to get into the characters can and say like how would you react?

Some would be like you so we'd be like me whatever So I guess that doesn't swing at the quandary that you would I think it has to be with a person's core personality Making Jim Jeffries base. Yeah And now we get into the meat and well just the meat we've done the potatoes. What do we have in the potatoes? Okay potatoes, let's do it a potato quick.

I don't care either way, so I recently listened to the all fantasy everything podcast where they draft everything And they did a top soundtracks now some of these were when they picked when they were for them they were formative They were the best some tracks it you know heard whatever there were some that were left out that I kind of bring up And I kind of bounce this off you and have you bounce them back to me. Okay Well, I mean I want you to have your own back to you. Oh, yeah, I'll check it all the way Yeah, and there's my sports reference for the month They brought Prince parade which I guess was the soundtrack to under the cherry moon But they did not bring a bat Probably because the bad Bad dance was well that was that the one really super big hit, but I mean no 1999 No the one that's You're thinking it's not The one where they're the very beginning. It's like the future of the future But like party man, what a fucking song a great fucking scene No, nothing no, it's just I agree with you But I mean I think under the cherry moon smart even okay, yeah The big show soundtrack they did not even bring up Oh, man, it's all I'll bring up right now.

I'm not gonna look at it right now. Oh, well, I'm gonna bring up right now This was one of those my parents divorced they couldn't decide who owned the tape Big social right there cool The entire thing talking about an Amazon right now if I want That's nice soundtrack look at this well don't look this but I mean I'll tell you about it Marvin gay I heard it's a great point the plantations my girl Young rassels good loving the miracles tracks my tears that song I feel like my heart Three dog night joy to the world once in the temptations again ain't too proud to beg a reason Franklin You make me like an actual woman. I got a fun of in fifth grade for liking that song Smokey Robinson the miracles I second that emotion fuck you if you don't that song. I'm sorry But like if I hear I second that emotion I will punch anyone who tells me to turn it off What it should appeal and the exciters tell him oh tell him it was very early.

Okay. You're looking at me like an asshole Also on the extra city which I didn't have because I had an un-pusset tape the four tops the same old song Martha the Vendellas more Marvin gay the Marvelettes which I just assumed were tiny Marvel's or something too many fish in the sea I don't know what that song is but These are like there are some tricks. They didn't even bring up the gardens of the galaxy They brought baby driver well the first soundtrack that I ever really own that I listened to a lot was actually cool fiction They it was an honorable mention My favorite no, it's not my favorite But I listened to it a lot and another one that I actually listened to a great deal was the lost high lost highway sound track Absolutely David Lynch was that mostly Marilyn Manson and Trent Reiser yes But I mean they also had L7 on there and a few other oh, yeah, yeah the spawn soundtrack Legently the spawn soundtrack filter and crystal method doing don't you trip like I do or whatever that one was I mean Yeah, like it was a mix of uh, there's a combo. It was like the judge Remember the judgment night soundtrack.

Oh, sorry. I'm sorry. I'm boring you. Yes.

Oh fair enough No, it's not because I'm tired because I still play shit last night. Okay, so you're not bored But the sponsor track was a mix of like metal and like techno You got like orbital and Slayer and the crystal method and filter I just discussed there was a metallic a trink on there That was terrible. Hmm never liked Not at all derivative and a little bit simple You know the elite singers brothers the guy okay. Did you like a man 5000?

Let me ask that Speaking of derivative brothers But I like them as you know things that were catchy and fun not things that were particularly interesting or original You know what band doesn't hold up orgy They're fucking terrible. Oh, you should shut your mouth cuz I still enjoy them really blocked over Yeah, I don't hit it. I mean anything else again Kills or you know static westward. Yes, of course both of which were on the sponsor is that what I rather listen to both of those than orgy?

Yes, absolutely shit, which one of those I see like I saw gravity kills Stepping less word. I didn't mind but the whole thing was like every other song was so Ridiculously sterile no Not backwards. What's working for country degree? Okay, it was like I will never hurt you again and then there's one's like I hurt you again And you're like what the fuck are you talking about like stop fucking this poor lady?

Okay We a soundtrack but the score for the film found no see they cut dodges scores on that one Like no one brought up like anything John Williams really so they were just They brought up one of my favorites gross white blank. They didn't pick it I'm just the same high fidelity or she leaves a bone a comes into the record store while he's playing her CD Hands with her while reading her inserts like that's the most mortifying thing ever because it's like so stalkery no No, I just love we goes. I'm gonna sell ten copies of the band right now and plays dry the rain Which is a fantastic fucking song from the beta band. I actually got into them I don't know those from that movie or that they got mentioned in a Irving Welsh novel that my dad let me borrow called the Secret sex lives of master chefs or something like that.

Oh, it's a great book the sex lives of master chefs or something Yeah, but they do have secret sex lives and they do mention like that the main character who's Scottish like of course I go to America one point with a girl and he's looking through like her CD collection goes what no beta band like I was like The thing like I get into these guys if Irving Welsh is telling you to Yeah, okay It's the same reason that I tried makers mark because the green goblin drink it the same baby spider-man's and make his market shite I'm not a fan. Can we talk about soundtracks that disappointed us? And we talked about this a little bit last week I'm still to this day super fucking pissed that in the first Hellboy they used a cover of red red hand by Nick K from the actual fucking song I know they released I know that Nick came in the bad scenes did a weird like some fomonic I wouldn't call it mash up or kind of a re-recording for the screen three soundtrack I know you don't like their two monkeys cover rubber at hand. Well, no, but the one in I was gonna say the first Hellboy has a female singer I've no idea.

I must flame that Is it that bad? It's not that bad. It's just not in a cave I know but like once I'm like you don't like the arty monkeys cover rubber at hand because it's too fast Sorry, I don't get kicking each other. Stop trying to play.

What's it with me Doug? After every one foots with me it works both ways. I haven't moved The first half of the recording Other soundtracks that disappointed us. I still think in brouge was scored and soundtrack fucking terribly and a lot of people disagree with me But I feel like it would have been a much bigger fucking hit if it had been scored completely differently I agree.

It's a good movie, but it's just one of those things where I'm like you guys made this feel like a 70s fucking movie and that can work sometimes But it didn't work here. What do you think of the rise of? film director is like pt Anderson west Anderson Quentin Tino who kind of like how led the pack Edgar Wright I might even include Who are subsets a film that they like? Metaculously craft their soundtracks their movies.

I actually like that a great deal because I was incredibly satisfying When a scene fits a piece of music so much and I want you to think about every piece of music that you love so much It brings a specific feeling to mind and if you can craft what's happening in that scene to fix the feeling is revealing I think it's incredible. All right, that's it. I'm writing the uh Rock of Ages equivalent with arctic monkeys I was like I can't love you're encouraging or tell me to like go on with my right where I'd be like I would go at monkeys of the Arctic. I mean it's not an inspired name, but uh It's one of those things where I don't know if you ever did this as a teenager But I had an album that I really loved I would kind of try and make up a literal narrative I had this great idea.

Um, and you know Brian Lucin, um, friend of the show. Yeah, Brian Lucin I remember he was you know I talked about he wanted to write a musical Um, it was so that was me burping not me laughing. It was me laughing. It was slightly awful Um, you know the stuff you think is super spooking rock of ages Um Like the stuff you think is like so fucking clever when you're in 20s.

We're like I'm gonna call the devil character Lou cipher and you're like, you know Um, you know, and they'll be a girl who's Sarah Finn and you're like So anyway, but I had this whole idea where I was in order this whole movie was no dialogue And it was just soundtrack like it was gonna be a bigger city collection than the force Gump soundtrack Which was that's a good one to bring up that thing was like to this song? I mean like that was huge Well, I also kind of want to talk about a uh just like very quickly a TV show I've been watching recently Which is not a great TV show, but it's called cold case But one of the very clever things they did was licensed very well-known songs Associated with a specific period in time to kind of walk you into that time period. Okay Like you knew it was the mid 90s because we were listening to blind melon Or ace of base or whatever. Yeah, you know what I mean?

Like I said, like I don't know how much they fucking spent on their music budget But that's what they did is that they used very specific songs, especially in the opening to walk you into a time period You know, like, you know, fortunate son That's cost a lot of money gets CCR. There's a lot of money on a lot of those songs, but yeah So that was potatoes. Let's get to the meat Ready player one Um Is when I'm right a player one with and with man We both heard the book you actually got me in the book. Well, no, if I remember correctly I think I recommended to twice and you pretty quickly read it like I didn't fight me on it No, I didn't fight for it, but I don't think I read it quickly.

I think it's fairly dense Oh, it's a really good book, but it's also something that's pretty easy to digest That's done with spews Because it's a very it's a very dense book, but it's also pretty easy to digest Um, I know that you loaned me your copy and in the first three pages there was a Ghostbusters quote Any reference to on your bongo and I was like, actually we talked about this the reference to dead man's party was why I ended up getting locked in the book Um The movie is not the book. It's not I mean it would have been hard with translate anyways, but there's a few key things that really ticked me off Like what? Well, Artemis is supposed to be short and curvy And he doesn't even ever meet Artemis face to face until the last little page is the book and they never talk about it No, they kiss at the end, but yeah, yeah, they do No, no, no, I'm just saying like last 10 pages the book is funny man. He's art of us The guy who wrote the book or it's crying.

Yeah, actually a dad to the book for film Well, I know books on a screenplay and it would have been a really hard book to translate anyways I I kind of missed some aspects of the challenges because in the book the challenge is like multi-tiered No, you have the keys and the other bridges You're correct gate. I did not bridge But you said you have the keys and the gates I and do it I think they were gonna be able to get money Python and have them do a play through or do a whole you know War games montage. I didn't but still really is a kind of wish they would have gotten money Python I really do I wish every nerd in the world I wanted to see him standing behind the guy with the coconut strouting in front of him Absolutely, that's what I want doing that. Yeah, the word games find whatever and you're gonna eliminate all of your mid-70s Atari Or text or text based video games.

I said we're good sure but in the book it was joust No, joust was the first first challenge That's just a man No, Pat is where the perfect game was where you won the extra life Fuck you, right? Okay, I guess I just was the first challenge because it was in the middle of one of the D&D Dungeons Right, right. Okay said the last challenge Actually, maybe it was no the last challenge was not adventure But he does talk about the first Easter egg being an adventure a great deal in the book Which so it makes sense that would be an adventure in your table that moment what? Did the oasis look like how you pictured it?

There's it? Okay, so it might have the oasis still looks a little bit 80s with you know the green Great song. Yeah, it's wrong. And it also just because of the descriptions of something similar, you know inside snow crash That's how I still see it in my head like I still see it as the big escape Yeah, I agree But and I see you know the subway bus bullet train up and down to take you everywhere because there's no crash I agree, but when you see all of the avatars like entering the oasis and see the Bender from vendor pending Rodriguez.

No, bender from Nope, and are from Club Well, like I said, but like when you see like a lot of John who's references in there There were a lot of rush references, which apparently is a Thorne of the side of some fans. Well, it also happens to be because in Avatar. Sorry avatar in Armada He makes a lot of much references as well I like progress this is the next guy, but yeah, rush is probably my favorite of the progress bands, but like I don't Super well, so other problems I had he was supposed to be you know short and shutty and awkward now. He was much more He was supposed to be chubby and awkward.

He looks like miles dollar Cancel he got it. Okay. What do you look like miles dollar? No?

He does looks less douchey and doesn't have horrible scars on his face Yeah, that happens Well, let's get I actually really liked a couple of the kind of B stories in the novel like I like when he moves away and gets his own apartment and gets into shave and sets up his training Regiment, right like that or when he gets captured on purpose I really like when he goes undercover nobody can see me doing air quotes even though I was about to he's supposed to get captured on purpose to go and collect data and work the system Which would have been a really good way to I think I think I think I think they did do a good job of that in that What's your name gets? Forceably Yeah, but apparently she's a leader of a big underground rebellion. Yeah, okay I know art both more big spiches is that the book is not about rebellion. It's not the book is not about resistance It's about no, they're not a hundred percent selfish.

They want to feed everyone But they do want to get a poverty like I said he had a really hard life his father died But he was either young now his other time he was very young his mother worked is mostly in a waste his stripper for a very long time And he used to put you know This was gonna say the oasis goggles on him while she was working to try and distract him before she died And then he had to go live with his a yes his complete d-bag Which it bothered me that they made the boyfriend more the bad guy than the ants the ant was not a sympathetic character It's just Just one of those things where like I said I get the books not the movie But I said I feel like certain themes were explored a little bit too much until a little bit too little and it pissed me Right the fuck off that they have zero build on delta and shelter. I'm sorry. Daito and shelter Daito and show is that they come over yes 11 Yeah, it was not they were both adult humans and one of them. It's murdered.

Yes one gets trucked out of it Yeah, exactly they killed Daito, but like I said they have zero build on that He's like I don't have a clean I don't have a plan, but suddenly he's okay with these two random mass ninjas I mean like at least had a small build with art of interest and H But like no fucking build at all. Did you like the reveal on H? Yes and no I thought she was the perfect casting Yes, I thought it made perfect sense of her vehicle But they do not address the fact at all why she trade herself as male and the fact that she's gay I Like that she doesn't think it's like you don't know if Artemis is a 300 pound guy living in his basement Detroit Whereas H was literally opposite of that and I like that you did something to your thumb I cut my thumb in the zipper of my jacket and it's right by nail However, like I said no, I do I think they cast the right actress absolutely yeah young Leslie Jones Do I really think it's a big deal? They didn't play upper sexuality no however when they're explaining why H chose to portray herself as a white male That is muscular inside the oasis for sexuality comes into play So that's one of those things that makes sense in the book which maybe doesn't come into play in the movie When you saw each for the first time you heard H for the first time She realized it was like a girl doing like a male horse.

No, I didn't even think about that. I did totally Though when they're talking about is the shining scary I have to watch it through my fingers Yeah, I've never seen the shining don't go into that room. There's a zombie girl that keeps trying to kill me Oh my god the whole first scene or it's like the hot girl making out and then it does the switch like we all know It's gonna do but seeing somebody experience or they try to push up on the elevator and they're like no And all the blood comes pulling out. I thought it did the book a service I think people that read the book beforehand are going to be Disappointed but they're gonna be that well.

That's the thing is that that was my opinion is me. I'm gonna rewatch it Because I think I had to walk into the movie going it's not the book but you totally love the first of all fun Go pop right now that we know you know I actually never had a good mental picture of his But of his like avatar in my brain actually his avatar is exactly like a picture after like the cataclysmic or whatever Cataclysm oh we can talk about TJ Miller Yes, please Ciel given I had a brief conversation about this beforehand Ironic is a character in the book, but he's basically just a lovable dumbass Okay, I take it back nobody loves it. He's just a dumbass that is not smart enough to keep up with everybody else and H feels sorry for him H is a friend of H's because they're like in some kind of gladiator Yeah, H feels sorry for him. So when I'm just gonna say would wait more, you know First of all, whatever whatever it was like I said when Z trying to figure out the first clues on a lunice In the movie yeah, it's on the school planet in the book.

Yeah, what's it? Or whatever He figures out on the school planet and Artemis has figured out slightly before him and they both go through the just and figure it out and get the first key He very afterwards because H helps him gives H a clue on how to find it how to figure it out because H is a dumbass He doesn't really hide it and then your eye rock. No, I rock figures out that since H No is parsable. He logics out that it's somewhere on the lunice planet and goes and gets the first key However in the movie he's more of a tired mercenary.

He's got the Boba fact. I mean, not necessarily in a bad way I don't hate him. I just think he's dumb. He is dumb.

I think you realize that all of the ten years worth of stuff is accumulated. Yeah But I know you have an issue with TJ Miller as a person. Yes, I know I mean, you never really know a person and all that kind of went away But there's no one else that could play Iraq than TJ Miller. There's no one Okay, Sean Wallace.

That's it. I like how you think that for a second though Yeah, what I'm just saying to deliver those lines as he did the other thing is you know, it's not gonna deliver in those lines to making up those lines To some extent. I think it's him and fucking flying sitting around laughing like idiots. Yeah, I'll give that one In the end, what did you think of the movie?

I? Actually was a little surprised because you know, I've bitched and moaned about you that finds all building no fall In his books. Okay, I've never had Armada. So no, it's the same thing with snow crashes a lot of building very little while Stevenson I'm giving you an example.

Sorry. You remember the out of sand crash. There was like maybe a page and a half of follow-up all Bill. Yeah, yeah, it's the same thing with ready player one all building no fall and the Armada is the same way all building no fall I was actually very surprised.

I thought they had too much fall in the movie Why cuz I give zero fucks they turn off the oasis on Tuesdays and Thursdays and they did not think about it The world also like they didn't develop Ogden Morrow. Look at it. I was so fucking because there's not more so many peg in that book In the movie like the book. Yes.

It was really pissed. There was not more. I caught that he was a carrier Like I caught that because I did not I didn't even think about that to be as natural voice Well, I thought the curator was a very odd character. Also, it was like four portions Did we think that it was a little bit strange that you know That nobody kicks my fucking quarter I was like I'm like he's not gonna be the perfect Pac-Man because he must go to the arcade museum Sad face that and like in the book It's more supposed to explain to that when he meets Holiday at the end he goes you're not an avatar.

There's no it's but is a hella real holiday debt. Yes It's one of those I was like explained that that is our tomorrow acting out to help first of all But it's also one of those things where like I said Ogden gets involved a lot earlier Especially gives them a safe place in Oregon But it's also at Ogden's fucking weird They said it's Ogden's birthday where him and Artemis actually meet for the first time and they're dancing and that's when they get attacked I love the big reveal that How days rosebud was actually Ogden Morrow maybe a little sad we'd please stop saying rosebud I mean, it's not my setter. No, no, it's just one of those things where it's like everybody says rosebud It's slang term for plaid so I thought it was a name of a sled. Yeah, it's not really bad.

Look it up. Should we call it sled? Yeah, let's say sled Not me to Cliff. I hope not.

Oh, yeah, right down the hill diarrhea You your clip has diarrhea. I did have a couple more things and should anything else And on that but yeah, we're not ending on that we're not ending on that what else you got? Nothing enough to my long-running series is have come to an end. I'm listening to the glass book in the hollow series I'm about probably three quarters through and then the last book for the iron druid chronicles is finally come across from my audio books as well So it's like cadre get it together so I can have some more books for Sam and slim and for good color I got such a retool of ch- I have something to say to try like I said get it together for Sam and slam or the coop books Cuz I need another fucking book.

Yeah, I mean not that I won't listen to butcher bird But like I said two of my long-running series are coming to an end and I'm like I need more shit to read I mean, maybe it's just because you know, it's like the new music thing and a certain age you stop reading new authors, but damn That's where the hollow series that I'm reading those are the ones that I've fixed about a great deal the Rachel Morgan books But the characters too stupid and stubborn. Well, she's so stubborn. She's stupid. Yeah Actually shockingly pleased at how self-aware the character is becoming his last few books that she's so stupid No, no, she's become self-aware that she's so stubborn She made bad decisions and she's making different decisions now Oh girl, which doesn't necessarily make me think that the author planned it It makes me think that she went back and read them and thought oh my god I'm asked who or she's a don't ask Decisions we made in our teens in our twenties I don't like to exactly So like I said Cadbury get it together I actually ran out of stuff.

I wouldn't say ran stuff to read but I ran out of very easy stuff to read Because I've been going back to Eric Powell's the goon Which you know that I bought the library editions of which are approximately What I'm saying three inches think I'm saying like LaPedia's most show. Yeah, I'm very hard to like stick with me and read So I finally I'm like about half of the second book. It's a really hard week even on the can But it turns out I had to tack on some extra stuff from Amazon order So I got the complete or the what's not the absolute puts the complete planetary by Warren Ellis This is important because this is a one L series. I have no idea how they're I have no idea I'm only a third to the second book the mystery in space issue And I think that's where I left off on the singles because at that point they'd come out so Yeah, I mean I know that Warren went through a health crisis then a tech crisis And I know that John Cassidy takes forever to draw and admittedly it's worth it, but okay Let's just put this out there.

We love Warren's great. He also is pretty sensitive Denn occasionally goes crazy Super gods, that's more so I read it Let's not continue on ignore my comments, so I've been reading plan to and then I'll get back to our pals The goon which I've got a great picture to show you where they actually uses the term split tail Yeah, no split tail and coups is one of the two words. I really In terms of woman Do you know where split del king from yes? We have to wait until the actual fucking name of the song comes up Heartbreaker fucking If you like this check out some of our other shows like mr.
