Every attempt to improve his situation somehow makes it worse, as the film stacks misery on top of misery with almost supernatural determination. The horrors of war follow him home, where they merge with unemployment, urban decay, and the realization that adulthood is its own form of combat zone. It’s bleak, relentless, and fully committed to the idea that sometimes the monster isn’t under the bed, it’s the electric bill. Oklahoma Legend COUNT GREGORE on Facebook.
