259: Emily was caught by airport security

Do you remember the TV show called Locked Up Abroad? It’s no longer in active production, but you can still see past seasons on some different platforms like Hulu and Apple TV. Every episode of the show was a true story of someone who was traveling outside their own country. Actually I seem to recall that most of the people were Americans traveling outside the US. And they would make a really bad decision to do something like trying to smuggle drugs or other illegal things into this other country. And of course they would get caught, and now they’re arrested and in jail in a place where they don’t really know the rules or procedures, and there might not even be anyone there who speaks English. It’s a true nightmare scenario. My guest today is Emily. She has personally been through that type of experience, and she told that story here on the podcast 5 years ago. She was the one who tried to get through airport security, while having bags of cocaine taped to her body. That was not a good day for Emily.
