GOVERNMENT POTHOLE FUND DROPSThe Government announced it is injecting £500m into the pothole fund, to help local councils repair the shocking state of the roads. Whilst this is a lot, it is a reduction on last year’s overall fund. Councils are warning that they will not be able to tackle everything they need to as a result. HIGHWAYS ENGLAND RECOMMENDED TO FACE CORPORATE MANSLAUGHTERFollowing a tragic incident and death on the M1 on a smart motorway section, a coroner has recommended that Highways England face charges of corporate manslaughter. MERCEDES ECALL SYSTEM BUGIn the US, if there is a sufficient voltage drop to the eCall emergency call system and it is involved in an accident, the location will be given in Europe to the emergency services trying to locate the vehicle. TWO EV ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM THE GOVERNMENTThe Government has opened a consultation regarding public charging points, seeking feedback on how to improve them. We will keep an eye out for any changes to the detail to see if customers can be serviced by these schemes too.
