from Why We Tri | Endurance Sports Podcast for All Levels · host Caroline Gardner
A Why We Tri Podcast Production EP27: Living Out Her 'Father's List' & Aligning with Her Own Why in Life Laura Carney Have you ever lost someone you wish you could have one more conversation with? To ask them their thoughts, their dreams, and what is on their Bucket List? My next guest Zooms in from Montclair, NJ: Laura Carney. She is an author, magazine journalist, copy editor, activist and plant-based athlete, and a daughter who endured the tragic loss of her father at the age of 25. Her father was tragically taken when a distracted 17year old driver hit her father's car. After his sudden passing, Laura and her brother find a Bucket List her Dad wrote in 1978, the year Laura was born. Laura shares her quest to check items off of her 'Father's List' just before she was adding a new role to her life resume: Wife. Tune in to listen how her quest takes her on a journey towards running races, open water swimming, long distance cycling events and soon, an Ironman. Laura has since completed many items on her 'Father's List' and documents her adventures on her blog: My Father's List. Laura is currently turning her quest into a book. In my Magic 8 Ball I see a movie/documentary in Laura's future. As a special nod to my mom and Laura's dad, both second or third generation Irish, I wanted to get this up on St. Patrick's Day. Our parents never met here on earth, but we are both certain they are watching over us as we converse and carry on their legacies.
