On the 16th of March 2017 Studentafton had the honor to host three amazing guests for a unique conversation about courage, compassion and human rights. The guests for the evening were Jan Eliasson, Yeonmi Park and Sakdiyah Ma’ruf. Jan Eliasson is a Swedish diplomat and politician who was the chairman of the UN General Council 2005-2006. Between 2012-2016 he was the Deputy Secretary General of the UN. Yeonmi Park is a human rights activist and from North Korea. In 2007 Park escaped the country and has since actively informed the public about the living conditions in North Korea and told the story about her escape. Sakdiyah Ma’ruf is Indonesia’s first female, muslim stand-up comedian. Ma’ruf comes from a conservative, muslim family which has shaped her comedy routines. In 2015, she was awarded the Václav Havel Prize for Creative Dissent for her deeds. The evening was arranged in collaboration with the photography project We Have A Dream. The project has taken 15 years to complete, and features 114 unique portraits and interviews with people from all over the world. Eliasson, Park and Ma’ruf all participated in the project. The evening was moderated by Catarina Rolfsdotter-Jansson.   This evening was originally published on the 31st of March 2017 within Studentaftonpodden - a collaboration between Studentafton and Radio AF.
