act 1 the action passes under starlight and blankets. a room at winter night, dark but aglow from stars and a gibbous moon. under blankets oddly lefty noodles and twenty secrets lay apart, staring at a disappearing ceiling. lefty noodles (a beekeeper): the ceiling recedes and we lie here apart yet together what is to be made of this twenty secrets (a honey collector): who are you and what am i or we all this is a dream or a hopeless invention lefty noodles: stardust we are all glitter inside but no gold cold until the touch reactor ignites us chorus: the delirious event chain the future impossible and the temperature drops twenty secrets (moves close): starlight is cold millions of years old most dead the rest dying once we see it’s too late lefty noodles (moves closer): then why wait why wait every day we waste we drop away fate is a harlequin a mannequin twenty secrets (closer still, now touching): all right let’s ignite starlight of our own device heat without light but tonight we dance and dance again chorus: the delirious event chain the future regardless and the temperature rises (curtain) lefty noodles and twenty secrets fall asleep simultaneously dreaming, each in a universe of their own creation. epw 1.8.08 perrysburg, oh
