268. Do You Have Too Much Stuff? Simplify Your Life Through Decluttering and Minimalism | Robyn Buchanan of Minimalist Home

from Simple Farmhouse Life · host Lisa Bass

As a homeschooling mother of eight who runs a business from home, decluttering is the only way I keep our home manageable. I have shared many times on this podcast about how minimalism has transformed our lives. Robyn of Minimalist Home has experienced the same freedom that comes from decluttering and organizing your home, and she makes it her mission to help other women get to the same place of peace. As we prepare to enter the new year, many of us have goals of simplifying, decluttering, and organizing our lives and homes. This episode addresses both the practical strategies and the mindset shifts necessary to transform your home in the new year. Join us! In this episode, we cover: The warning signs to look for to know whether you are living in chaos A simple framework to help you start crawling out of the chaos How to avoid the number one mistake people make when trying to get organized Strategies for overcoming the decision fatigue that comes with decluttering Overcoming the psychological pull that keeps us from getting rid of items we don’t need Breaking down what is happening in our brains when we struggle to declutter A manageable approach to kids’ artwork and other sentimental items Do we ever regret items we have decluttered? Tips for getting started on simplifying your life when you are in a stressful season How the ages of your children and size of your family impacts your organization Where specifically to start decluttering your home if every area feels chaotic View full show notes on the blog + watch this episode on YouTube. She started her minimalism journey because she was overwhelmed coming home to a cluttered house after working in a chaotic emergency department. Since decluttering, she not only uncovered her floors and surfaces, but also the deeper meanings behind our clutter, how clutter impacts our focus, why it’s so hard to declutter, and how life is freer without our stuff weighing us down. Robyn lives on Vancouver Island in BC with her 3 teen boys and husband, 4 out of 5 of them have ADHD, including Robyn & her husband. She loves hiking, gardening and cooking along with Jane Austen, Monty Python and Harry Potter movies.
