27. Room (2015) Film Review

A24's final film from 2015 garnered its most mainstream success in its three years of existence. Room, starring Brie Larson who won the academy award for best actress for her performance, is about a woman who had been abducted before birthing a child from her abductor and sexual assaulter Old Nick. Jacob Tremblay plays Jack, a child who only knows the 10x10 room that he and his mom have been forced to live in. Room is a world that Ma has built for him through books, stories, and cartoons. In one of the best reviewed films from the 2010-2020 decade, this tour-de-force drama was written by Emma Donoghue, who also wrote the book. Director Lenny Abrahamson also received a Best Director nomination. Will this be the A24 Rocks family's most well-reviewed film yet? Caution: movie spoilers.
