<p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">The measurable traits we associate with males: aggression, competitiveness, anger, body mass & sex drive, are due to high levels of testosterone. By puberty, males are forcibly made aware of any physical & mental deficiencies they may have at the hands of those stronger and smarter than themselves; it's evolutionary that a pecking order emerges. In a testosterone setting, it takes an Alpha to manage other aspiring Alphas, otherwise disrespect will damage the group's cohesion. Sports are certainly subject to this, and it's definitely part of the military mystique.</p> <p style="margin-bottom: 0in;">Alpha males spontaneously emerge in any social setting of men. The manifestation is somewhat muted in a mixed-gender gathering, but that's more the imposition of artificial societal limits: rest assured, in a predominately male environment, Alpha males rule. Alpha malehood isn't even consciously sexist: men will certainly kowtow to females as long as the females exhibit Alpha traits. Alpha males got us to where we are today, and the fact that modern society has come to denigrate the Alpha male prerogative, causes us all to suffer because of it.</p>
