from All Things Love and Intimacy with Katie Ziskind · host Katie Ziskind, MFT, LMFT, CSTIP, RYT500
Katie Ziskind, relationship coach, and sex and intimacy specialist, shares six ways to build intimacy for couples. Many couples are struggling with emotional bonding, relationship security and need help improving intimacy. When you improve your intimacy, you open up, become vulnerable, and you are letting your protective walls down. Doing so allows you and your partner to work together to create a resilient relationship and feel connected on a deep level. You can build intimacy in your relationship by holding hands, having long hugs, and incorporating more touch every day. Talk about all of your emotions together, the positive and the negative, and take the time to intentionally apologize when you may have made a small mistake. Listen to your wedding song and dance together in your kitchen. If you don't have a song or haven't gotten married, work together to find a song and symbolize your romance and connection. Be sure to celebrate each other's birthdays, promotions, anniversaries, and events in each other's lives. As important as it is to be focused and ambitious, take the time to get playful and curious. Increasing playfulness in your relationship can bring a sense of silliness and invite a shift into desire and sexual arousal. Put a date night on your calendar or a date morning where it is just the two of you and you can pay attention to each other. Prioritizing your couple bubble will help to approve the intimacy both emotionally and sexually in your relationship.
