Today, Bordering the LineA guy is walking down the sidewalk, avoiding the cracks, human contact, and contact with anything. The sound of his leather soles against the concrete sidewalk and the sounds people make when they are trying to accommodate someone's needs compete for our attention. This person couldn't care less about anyone else. The next stop is a psychiatrist’s office and then back home. The many compulsive acts seemed to culminate at the bathroom sink. The hand washing protocol seared into my mind. A few lathers of a new bar of soap under scalding water, toss the bar, open another. Do it again. At least, that’s what I remember.
